I was wondering if there is a good way to preserve normal operation and change this.
My other phone is the Droid 2, and I use liberty rom on it, which has it built into the toolbox. The problem I have with the apps I've tried is the layout gets all funky.
What can I do?
Thanks,
D
First thing I would do is sell your D2 lol. Which version of liberty are you running?
*I'm joking about selling it. I loved mine and think Motorola killed 2 amazing phones locking them. (DX also)

I've used every version through the gb builds. I have a concession line (I work for best buy mobile) so I couldn't sell it, but the phones I get are free and of my choice so...
liberty is the best rom anyone in my store has used for any phone hands down (we've tried many)
Loving this phone tho...miss my physical keyboard and themed swype. I loathe the default font and colors heh.

Just thought you guys should know. I'm on T-Mobile and use a Vibrant but I'm really digging the Aria's build and form factor.
Any suggestions for...anything?
I just got mine this week and love it! You're probably more advanced than I am though, since I'm guessing you have Android experience prior to the Aria... I'm coming from a Moto RAZR 2!
Currently loving LauncherPro (Plus) and Extended Controls. Those are the only 2 apps I've paid for so far.
I'm using my aria on T-Mobile and works good. No 3g in my area so no big loss for myself.

I've had mine since June and I love it.....its my first cell, believe it. Big thanks to XDA and everyone that knows a ton more than I do about the aria. XDA ROCKS!

I've had mine for about a month now... I love this little phone! Much more than any iPhone or BlackBerry I've previously owned.
(I'm an admitted phone junkie.)
Think this is a nice post to share with other new aria users. I myself am a new aria user, its also my first android phone (on s sony eriscsson previously). Loving it so far but am very curious to know it inside out.
Any idea which features are androids n which are htc sense?
Thanks!
to the OP - I have a galaxy s right now and am thinking about moving into a Aria, how do you feel about moving from the vibrant to the Aria?
Well i'm a newbie to the aria and androis os myself, but u should definitely get the XDA app to easily access the forum and get this cool sig below!

Think It's a nice bit of kit too. Customer brought one in to have the digitizer replaced.. Just spent an hour and a half trying to get the new one to sit properly.. On really close inspection, the replacement (customer supplied) is almost 2mm broader..All,.
Not fishing for business, but just a heads up to anyone that's planning on a DIY digitizer repair.
Trying to decide if i should exchange my D2G for an Droid x or even an Incredible...
Wanted some input from ya'll in here to see what you think is the best route?
Returning the Global cause I rarely used the hard keyboard and the extra bulk was annoying

I haven't tried the droid 2 but I have the droid x
So far I have really loved this phone. 4.3 inch screen is awesome, the processor is great, and the camera and hdmi is just fantastic. I did have issues with the first phone I received, the camera didn't take as good quality as I thought it should. Now that the X has a rom called Liberty it is even that much more awesome.
I have processed my exchange for a Droid X. Looking forward to it!

Should of waited for the bionic. Tis tis tis but the x is cool just wait until some underground hacker unlocks the bootloader man that will be the day.

I am trying to make the decision of which one to get at the moment, Droid 2G or the Droid X. Is there any reason to think one phone is more solid than the other?
I love my DX. I came from an iPhone and will never look back unless iOS changing a few things. If you pick the DX you will love it. HTC does make great phones but the size of this screen makes other things feel obsolete

I have several friends with the droid x and have rooted many of them. I wouldn't trade my evo for one///ever.
I rooted mine and all that good stuff it wasn't hard at all. Is the evo eaisier and does it have a better screen????

They are similar in specs. You should play with the Evo at a Sprint store. Most have it on display now.
Well Evo seems easier to root with unrevoked and screen is almost the same, I hate hump in the back of the droid tho, and I got tired of motorola phones (bad speakers in most the I owned ) so I stick with the Evo and HTC if you want veruzon you should wait for the thunderbolt.or incredible s to come out , thunderbolt is an Evo redesing with new sense and inc s is almost the same just smaller

Does it have a locked bootloader??? My guess is no

Verizon has been ripping me off for the last six months and im sick of it. And im sick of Motorola locking there bootloaders. Is sprint getting any new htc phoned similar to the evo???
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The specs are pretty much the same.
So in my opinion:
form factor: I like the evo. It's nice, slick, flat and sexy. The droid x has that awful bump on the back and is hideous. Winner: Evo
UI: Motoblur's happenings widget is badass, but HTC Sense is faster, better looking and more usable. The widgets are nice and don't slow the system down. Winner: Evo
Root: Don't know Droid X root method, but the Evo was by far the easiest root I've ever gotten (coming from the MyTouch Slide and the G2). Winner: Evo
Roms/dev support: We got CM, which means we have THE BEST AOSP roms on earth. We've got half a dozen fantastic sense UI roms (Myn, MikFroYo, Konikub's Elite, etc) and they're always updated and supported. Plus, a bunch of themes. Winner: Evo
I'd get an Evo, but you should try one out at the store before making a decision. Some people really like their Droids.

No. They are probably waiting for a killer device - The Echo
I love my droid!!! I don't love paying 150 bucks a month for locked a boot loader and no front facing camera. Is there a one click root for the evo or is it all about downloading drivers and that nonsense???

You have to download the HTC drivers, Android SDK (which any rooted android user should already have) and UnRevoked. Then open unrevoked and root. All done. There's an FAQ around here somewhere...
Thanks for your help and opinions fellow android users

My Dad got me the HTC evo at the beginning of the year but now me and him want data (we were flashed to pageplus but data didn't work on them). So my question is what is the best. rom, kernal, ect for the Droid x. I just want to be ready when I get the Droid x and messing arround for days trying to get the best combination or roms and kernals.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well.
Good luck with that.
We have a locked bootloader, kid. The kernels we're provided are the kernels we get.
But as far as ROMS go...
I like Liberty. Both the froyo and gingerbread versions are great.
I haven't really played with the others...for...like 5 months.
So maybe they're holding ground too, but I wouldn't know.
Apex 2.0 is talked about a lot.
Zombie Stomped
Fission
P.S.
You're switching carriers and picking up a Droid X?
I assume you're going to lock yourself into a 2 year contract?
Not to be rude...and nothing against the X...
But this phone will be a year old in July.
The X2 is already out, actually.
I'd get something top-of-the-line for the extra $50 if you're going to be stuck with it for two years.
No my dad buys them off of craigslist. And the evo wont get 4g service but my dad got the x and it works great
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
My advice is to influence your father to make the better choice and go for the newer device. From the purely economic point of view, buying a year old phone now results in an increased likelyhood of failure or desire for a newer phone in the two years of your contract, buying the new phone now means you are more able to make it two years without being left behind.

Not even the dx2 has 4g, you may want to do a little more research before you pick out a phone

So I have to admit I'm feeling some withdrawal from my nexus s. I got the EVO 3d for $100 no contract so in trying it out, in on my fourth day with it and I have to admit its nothing like ny nexus s . I give it less than a week before I go back and sell the 3d.

Yea, locked bootloader and aosp is gonna be a B to get going on that thing. I get mad at the whole radio issue, I will probably have a 3D in my house with the option to swap for my NS4G, but I almost know Ill be keeping my NS4G.

You can remove bloat without root.

Actually Sprint allows aps to be removed now. So there should be no issues dumping the NASCAR or football stuff.

Um. Sense isn't "bloatware" or a "app." That's the ROM, of course you can't remove that because its in the frameworks.
But individual apps like NASCAR and whatever bloat that are included can be removed without root access. Apks in /system/app/ cant be removed, root is needed to make changes throughout the system.
