Ok, so I was running Dalingrin's most recent build, and installed the OC kernel, and all was well. However, I wanted to use LauncherPro and it kept giving me issues, so I went back to Phiremod 6.3.
I went to install the OC kernel for CM7, not realizing that it was not compatible with Phiremod 6.3. (I figured they were both built on CM7, so it would work. Not so, apparently.) When I restarted, I got a black screen, and holding the N+Power buttons while booting didn't work.
So, I found a thread on XDA to fix my recovery, and I was able to restore my backup.
However, now i cannot add standard widgets or shortcuts (using the menu, long press on the app page works) to Launcher Pro, and any time I try to change something on the dock, I get a force close. I tried fixing permissions, and still no dice. No problems with Launcher Pro widgets or wallpapers. Also, the icon for some apps changed to the stock Market icon, and would not load, but a reinstall of those apps solved the problem.
Short version - Restored a backup after a botched kernel install, now Launcher Pro won't let me install widgets or shortcuts, or change items on the dock.
EDIT: Nevermind. Reinstalled Phiremod through ROM manager and it works fine now. Forgot about that option sooner.

Strange thing happened this morning, I reset my phone and it took a long time to reboot. When it came back up, my recently installed apps were gone and I was back to the default launcher. However, I cant install my programs again, nor can I switch to a different launcher. There are no defaults for me to clear and I cant reinstall homw switcher.
I am using Calkulins Evio 1.3 and ADW launcher is supposed to be set by default. My most recent nand is from 2 weeks ago so I dont just want to restore. Also, since I cant really reinstall since the programs are still actually there, I cant just backup and reflash.
Help is appreciated.
Edit: I also apparently cant install anything new or old.
Edit2: Apparently clearing out my cache and dalvik fixed the problem.
Every time I install a launcher, either ADW and launcher pro and restart, I get the Galaxy S logo, then an infinite black screen. The only way (I know of) to fix it is to do a factory reset, which obviously sucks. I have never gotten a launcher to work.
Anyone know what my problem is and how to fix it?
I have a US Cellular Mesmerize, rooted, clockwork mod, and the 1124_test_novoodoo kernel.
Thanks!
Update: I tried again to install Launcher Pro, but this time installed Home Switcher before shutting down. I set LP as my default launcher in Home Switcher, and launched it. It worked fine. However, after restarting the phone, I again have the black screen and lit up keys.
I had this happen the other night on my rooted superdark superfast fascinate. I just pulled the bat, held down both volume keys, held power until I saw samsung and let go of the power. then I loaded a backup and all was fine...
[SOLVED]
It's working now, I recovered again, restored with Titanium Backup, and tried again with Home Switcher, and this time it worked. Not sure what was up, but problem solved.
Same problem with additional wrinkle
I'm having the same problem, except that I haven't yet successfully got CWM to work on mine (so no ROM backup yet). Do you know of any way to fix this without restoring a backup first?
I500 Mesmerize
Rooted
OCLF v1+
Home Switcher
Launcher Pro
Visual Task Switcher
(Problem started after installing VTS)
All you have to do is hit search button on soft keys and find launcher pro or adw and open it and set it as default.

Since i haven't posted enough to be allowed to post the question in the manual nooter, i need to post here.
I install stock 1.2 via clockwork, then installed the manual nooter, root and almost everything works except the 'n' home button.
I tried uninstalling soft keys and it still doesn't work.
Thanks.
Use the Zeam launcher that is included.
I worked out my problem, when went back to stock 1.2 I didn't wipe user data, so it grabbed something from the old configs that cause the issue. I went back to stock 1.2, wiped the data, then ran manual nooter again and everything appears good so far.
So I installed Syndicate Frozen ROM 1.2 last month on my Samsung Epic 4G.
I am experiencing some weird behavior. Every once in a while all of my shortcuts are simply gone. The buttons for the launcher to phone, contacts, apps, messaging and browser are there, but all the other shortcuts I manually put in there are gone.
If I reboot the phone they come back, but it has been happening a lot lately. Any ideas why this would happen?
I am also getting that SU binary outdated warning. But each time I download the newest update and it doesn't seem to take. Each time is says latest version is 3.0.3 and it says installed version is 2.3.1-ef. After I install is says current version is now 3.0.3. But next time I reboot it is back to the old version.

That happens to me on adw launcher sfr 1.2. Not really an issue since if you flick the launcher dock down or up a few times it comes back. Or you could just reboot. You could flash the newest su update throught cwm or acs recovery.
I got (without asking) the OTA update yesterday and now have an unrooted kindle. Trouble is, the go launcher if stuck in a force close mode and since there is not root now, I am stuck.
Any good advice for clearing go launcher as launcher even though I can't access root or get to the launcher.
I am thinking I may have to wait for someone to achieve root again.

Update:
Nothing worked...finally I figured out there was a brief moment when the task bar appeared after connecting the USB cable to the PC...I tried to quick tap it and drag it down. Finally I was able to get to settings and was able to remove go launcher. Thanks for those who tried to answer me.
Ugh, I thought somehow I wasnt going to suffer this but after charging my kindle today its getting force closes on my zeam launcher, guess I got the update so cant do anything now, Also tried installing the custom recovery using the kindle fire utility and it tries to root and fails...
hope somebody gets root working again soon
ADW still works no problem.
I can second the ADW launcher working fine.

Fixed!
Phew, if you use the kindle fire utility, it has an option which installs google apps/go launcher. Doing this some of the apps install some dont (those that need permission for /system).
I tired it and it soon prompted me on the kindle screen to choose the default launcher, I went for go launcher !! and it worked!
Yes adw works fine
