I don't believe crap until copies of a Sprint memo preparing customer service for a release date appears. Had one with Froyo a week before and so far nada. Galaxy S phones in Europe may get it by end of month but US carriers will screw it up until August.

We just got official FroYo. I'm not sure what the rush is to get GB right now. Granted, we have a fairly decent leak.

The issue is, as I know it, is that the leak did not come with source, and most of the kernel tweaks cant be done w/o the kernel source
And the source is not released until the official build drops
not to mention a lot of Devs dont build ROMs for leaks

Good point, though there are EE03 ROMs, and devs working on the build, but from what I can tell, DK28 was a solid leak, where EE03 seems to still have a lot of bugs, hence the reduced interest by the Devs

Not in my opinion. EE03 ran way smoother than DK28 did for me. I get no lag, better battery life than SRF, and Netflix!

I tried swiss cheese and put up with it for a couple days but went back to srf 1.1.1 bu now I'm running AA V7 and its smoooooooooth and it doesn't even get as hot as srf

What negative rep about the Epic community? A few little bad trolls whining while waiting for their Froyo handouts, don't make the community. Of course there will always be lazy folk who can't read through clear guides, stickies or bother to read back 2 or 3 posts, but I've mostly seen a friendly if slightly strained group.
We've had one very early report of an OTA upgrade, and you can just feel everyones gears start rolling.
Devs stepped up and let us slackers have epically fast upgrade guides, DK28 update.zip through ODin, a prerooted Rom, DK28 and I count at least 3 modded Roms already! This is all in less than a day. I'm sure there is much more already coming. Once Samsung releases their code (hopefully won't take forever), the Epic community will be steamrolling. Until Gingerbread
Just wanted to again say thank you to all the hard working Devs out there and thank you also for making this community great.

What I think shabby means is that, when we first had a leak for FroYo (DJ09 I think?) All hell broke lose. The Epic 4g community has its ups and downs.

That's pretty frustrating. If not for the great progress the CM team has been making, I would be considering a different phone at the moment.
Maybe next year in 1st or 2nd quarter, if Sprint has nothing better to do. Do yourself a favor and get the DK28 leak.

I have confirmed with my sources, we were all part of an expirement by samsung and sprint to prove that they could put out a total **** product like the moment...... and then still promise the moon aka the epic 4g and we would all go and buy it and hope we wouldn't complain about not having froyo simply because we are not getting data lockups. So there you have it, 2.1 no data lockups if you want 2.2 buy there next phone it will come out stock with it but by then there will be android 3.2
Lol, sprint held off n releasing froyo because they saw then noobnl and the rest of cyanogen epic team is making progress. And they are testing it to steal some ideas and put a sprint branding on it. hahaha

Really? You think people have been patient? I've seen nothing but constant whining (in the dev forum, no less) since I first started lurking here back when the phone was first released.
It will be released when its released. This isn't a great place for complaints- nobody who cares or who could even enact a change will read it. This constant whining does nothing but drive people away who might be interested in developing or push down the posts of the fractional population that actually has something to contribute.

I agree that this is not a great place to complain about ROM versions, but for whatever reason the dev section is 90% ROM related (there should be a ROM subsection). But...this phone should have been released with froyo. I was running froyo on my Vogue/Sprint touch for months before I bought this phone. Hopefully Samsung will catch us up soon.

Who cares? You're not running the ****ty software like the EVO, and 2.3 isn't going to be any different (for the most part). If you want to complain, go to a sprint store near you and ***** to them. Nobody is going to want to develop anything if people don't stop complaining. All of the resources are in these forums to make your phone look just like "2.3".

You made a thread bashing it though. I'm saying the rumor wasn't too far off if the leak actually does come soon, which is a good thing. A few people also threw out the 19th and 20th as well. Rumors aren't always perfect, but its nice that they could be pretty close.

yes, judging by these builds it seems like they are almost done and doing small stuff like making sure apps are working as they should and optimizing code and such. I remember when i had my hero they always sped up build rate before release (2.1).

With the rate of release, I suspect they are stripping out the debug features. Hopefully it's soon, I'd like to see GB on the Epic before I plunge off to the Within or the Epic 4G Touch as they are now calling it.

EG22 charges when plugged in and I have only gotten 1 reboot in the 2 1/2 weeks of running it. So I am sure that is fixed.

In development you have UAT QA which leads to this multiple builds drama. Everytime the QA tech kicks back the code the devs go back recompile the fix and they have to stamp it with a new build number.

I sometimes wake up to my EG22 below 50% despite being plugged in and I've had two random reboots today, alone, and at least one every day. So I am sure that is NOT fixed.
January 1 DannyD at SamMobile.com (the new home of SamFirmware) told me the following:

That was my first thought. However with the on-again, off-again nature if the valuepack, I wonder if a previous build included valuepack and it has since been removed. Unless they can get multiple builds we'll never know. Regardless, it should be CIQ free.
Could you ask them for ei22 tar? I believe that's way more important.

Noobnl packaged a tar without the modem and I think the boot loaders were missing. Add his files to the EH17 bootloaders and flash the EC05toEI22 zip and you got something other than the EC05 tar to use.

I like EI22 tar due to the fact our developers have source code for it. But I guess we could use the modem and the updated software files from a newer build. If they came out with a newer build with source code I would really love that a lot.

Eh, as far as 'useful', I don't know. K0nane already killed CIQ as well as we need, nothing can be pulled from our EI22 roms. And new features or performance seem slim.
But on the other hand, my phone works too well now and I've run out of things to enhance on it. I'm kinda bored with Epic 4G development, so something new could be interesting! In the mean time, I'll be working on the Galaxy Tab.

Why would care about requesting builds that only incorporates new features and not ics. Point being is its just features which our devs will implement but we are lacking a lot right now without this full tar.
