I personally would of loved if htc had raised the trackpad a bit. Its useable but it feels like Its carved into the phone and doesn't always move when I touch it. Adding gorilla glass would of been great as well and haveing the phone in white(faveorite color) would of made this phone perfect for me! How about you?

The only thing i want in the G2 is a 5 row QWERTY (like the G1).....I like dedicated number buttons
the phone could be a little bit lighter and I wish the trackpad was able to flash different colors. If that's all I can come up with then this phone really is that good.
Sent from my HTC Vision
I second the five-row QWERTY...
A hinge that "locks" into place.
Better camera, especially in low-light situations.
Four inch screen.
Thinner is always better!
And while we're in fantasy land, I wouldn't say no to an AMOLED display either...
remove the .com button or move it. I always hit it by mistake
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Better hinge design. (Better location for charging port too)
Everything else was addressed with root so I won't bother listing it.
A multi color trackpad... and GINGERBREAD (Oh well, we should have it soon via CM7)
Tri-colour notification LED
A proper dock that rotates the screen and puts it in desk-clock mode
AMOLED screen
Definitely a dev-accessible multi-color trackpad/ball light would be a big improvement, I miss that from my Nexus One.
I really think that's all I would have changed. Maybe a dual-LED flash instead of just a single, but aside from that, I'm pretty satisfied. I'd have preferred a black color scheme, too, instead of the multi-toned grey, but whatever.
My dream DZ would be what I have now - plus....
- tighter hinge
- 4 inch super ahmoled screen
- Thinner
- relocate the micro usb port to the bottom of the device
Not to hijack the thread - but for those of you who want a larger screen - would you consider the Desire HD? Im in Canada and its not available yet - but could be in the near future.

I'd love a slightly bigger screen, but the keyboard outweighs the screen size for me. You gota decide what is higher on your list of priorities.
Things that would make this device future proof for me,...
Tegra2
Dual LED flash
Bigger screen
5 row KB
.................... most to least important.
I'm happy to wait for the next 'G' series from HTC. I'll never go back to touch screen only.
Edit,.... A G1/Hero style trackball instead of optical trackpad would be nice n all.
Would love to be able to configure the backlight on the keyboard. It's NEVER on when I need it to be.
On what ROM? Mine is on when open, I assume it's off when closed.....
I would have liked the G2 better if it had the same keyboard as the Touch Pro 2. That was probably the best phone I've owned as far as appearance goes (TP2). Too bad the hardware and software sucked.
And it's not that I don't like the hinge design either, slide phones always end up scratching the keyboard surface on the sides. But I loved being able to open it and then tilt, oh and the 5 row keyboard was a beauty... If only the G2 had this, it would be perfect for me. But no phone is perfect.
Oh and access to the SD card slot without having to open anything! Another beautiful thing about the TP2 which had this.
In my dreams I am thinking of a phone with a SECOND SD card slot. Why not?? One behind the battery and one on the side of the phone.
My last phone was the HD2. I do kind of miss the larger display, but something inbetween would be perfect for me. If Android ran a bit smoother though I'm sure I would have never got the G2.
That's all... Every phone has areas it can be improved in. I think the G2 has excellent hardware, though. I think this is the most important aspect now having owned 5 HTC phones. Should be holding onto this one for a while, but then again that's what I always say. >.<
4" amoled screen , 5th row for numbers , a sturdy hinge , a better camera , and maybe a front facing camera.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
For me it is all the wishes expressed by others here, plus a front facing camera and a slot for a sling if one needed it. AND are there ever going to be automatic or dual active sim card smartphones from HTC?
Sd card slot that does not require battery removal. I'm surprised people want samoled on g2 after it has been proven that samoled is highly susceptible to "burn in" and pentile matrix is just killing me.
I think I woupd keed the LCD that we currently have on G2.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
A sturdier hinge mechanism, a 1 GHz processor. That's about it for me.
Interesting, the processor is the one thing I wouldn't change.

Seconded. I'm running a "CM build" compiled by someone else in the forum from source code but I sure hope Team Douche hurries up! Heh. Not to undermine the tireless efforts of those amazing phone modders.

No specs confirmed. lets start what we thnk it will have..
Super AMOLED.. sounds nice.
I would bet it gets an 8MP, hoping for maore than 1.3 front cam with all the video chat services available.
dual-core would make this thing very popular. Form factor will be a major point.
Honestly, Dell Streak innovate this and no one will come with a better idea. 5" exactly fit the pocket any extra will be too much.

5.3 might be a little too big...a friend of mine just got the 4.5" samsung infuse and it's a very nice size. 4.5-5" is the range I want.
you could technically increase the screen size of a phone to 5.3 without making the actual phone bigger in size than the streak, the side panels on either side of the streak are very big and could be utilised for extra screen realestate imo.
I will definitely jump on this one if all the specs are good. We will need dual core on this one!

exactly, who needs bezel? I mean sure, we need speakers and a mic and front cam, but all of that is already so small. Iam one for a minimalistic bezel look.
If it is good size/design I will be interested.
Sammy and TouchWiz.. not so much so, but there latest version should be nice to fiddle with for a while, something new for a change.
what resolution would they do with a .3" larger display??
960x540 probably.

I agree could be a very promising phone, to be honest I think you could get an extra inch screen size out the streak cause the bezel on each side and the top and bottom, would easily make up another inch. 6 inch screen!!!!!
But I think the streak is the perfect size, if the phone was any bigger it wouldn't fit in your pocket.
So more screen same size!!! :-D
Bezel
Streak could have that if they make the capacitive buttons on screen, and do away with the top & bottom bezel. There is a good .5" of wasted space on the streak.
I'm keeping my eye on this rumor. If it pans out, might be my streak replacement (sorry Dell...you didn't know what you had!)
Actually, the glass on the Streak is just a hair under 5.5 inches diagonal, so if they could make the display edge to edge, they could beat the Samsung without changing the form factor at all.

This could be Streak successor. It is true, that the screen can be actually bigger and device maybe even smaller then Streak, so let's wait for some pictures, specifications etc.
On the other hand, I hear somewhere that it should have querty keyboard which might be nice but then it might not be thin like Streak.
But then, think about support for this phone! Released drivers, kernels etc., so custom roms development will be much easier and there will be probably better support from apps developers (because Samsung will actually do some marketing for this tablet/phone unlike Dell).
Anyway, I probably won't have money to buy it
So long as it's not ****ty shiny plastic like every other Samsung/LG phone I'm happy.
I want quality metals/aluminium like Dell/HTC then it would have me interested.

Make it too thick. I rather like it thin. Looks almost elegant. Thicken it up and it looks clunky.
With this much screen real estate a properly designed virtual keypad should be fine.

i quite agree with you.
Now that the iPad 3 has been announced, it is only a matter of time before Samsung unveils this year's successor to the Tab 10.1. One of the features I have loved about the 10.1 since I bought it last June is its comfortable ergonomic form factor and understated black bezel.
The faux-metallic backing provides just the right amount of traction for secure handling with my finger tips. Also, the round beveled edge always feels comfortable in my palms unlike the sharp tapered edge of the iPad 2. I also appreciate that Samsung forwent any logo on the bezel, making the screen stand out without any distractions.
While I am excited at the prospect of a higher resolution screen and a much faster processor, I am hopeful that Samsung is able to retain the solid black bezel and form factor of their original design because I really have not felt a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing tablet than the Tab 10.1.

It is out of topic but ipad 3 is sh#t . Talking about the new tab I think it will have either a black bezel or a metal body like the 7.7 tab samsung stopped producing devices with shiny plastic that easily scratced even out of box

Unfortunately the black bezel is here to stay for the moment I'm affraid. There is many limitation i can think of in having no bezel
1. No place to hold on to. Your finger print will be all over the edge of the screen.
2. You dont want to put constant pressure on the screen surface when holding it. A bezel avoid this problem.
3. There need to be a fancy program that distinguish a touch and your hand holding the tablet.

I agree. The beauty of the original 10.1 is its understated design without any flashy logo on the front or speakers poking out from the sides.
I use my tablet in portrait mode just as often as in landscape. A blank bezel with flush, uniform edges provides you an undistracted view of what you want to be looking at: the screen.
i love the look of my galaxy tab 10.1 wifi but I saw recent display models at bestbuy with the Samsung logo on front~ it's not the same;I hope the new tab is without the logo.
What color is the new Samsung logo? If there has to be a logo, I would prefer a subtle dark gray.

Thanks for us info bro
This is the first tablet news that has excited me since the 7.7 was announced!
It does "sound" tempting. But if the iPad Mini is in its sights then the price point will be the determining factor. IF they bring it to market at $400 or thereabouts...(depending on how Apple prices the "new Mini")....it'll fly off the shelves. Much more and only we "tech whores" are the likely customers.
The masses focus on price first and foremost. We small minority on specs. IMO of course.
I don't understand why it won't have a stylus. Even the 7. 7 would be complete if it only had a stylus like the s Pen. Also why not keep it at 7.7 just have a smaller bezel

The idea is probably to increase screen area without increasing the device's footprint, like they did with the S3 --> S4.
No stylus as not to step on the note 8s feet, but I feel samsung lost a good opportunity here, could have waited and released the note 8 with the full HD amoled screen.
Issue is, if the battery is too small then no go for me, I don't need a device that paper thin, up to 8-9mm is fine for me, as long as that extra space is used for a larger battery. I also hope this new amoled tab comes with better materials than the current tabs and samsung products, plastic is not nice and feels cheap, and looks cheap on the current samsungs.
If they make this with Amoled screen will be Killer..
One thing they should do is make it read NTFS format from stock.
Also adding a USB Host OTG port to the chassis would be a good feature...
Maybe
Sammobile has been speculating a Tab 3 8.0", and it seems that will have a AMOLED.
That would be nice, even more if its FULL HD.

Note 8 is not a proper successor to our beloved 7.7. I wish Samsung comes up with one soon.
Well had a good look at the new unreleased Note 8.0 in Hong Kong today..Looks good only tiny bit bigger than my 7.7
Showed the samsung guys my 7.7 running PA 3.15 and they couldnt believe when they looked at it and saw 4.2.2 version lol...
If it has Super amold screen then i think it will be killer.its running 4.1.2 out of the box.
was told it running qualcom processor not emmc..
asked about if it will Brick and they didnt know what i meant! lol...
either that or they avoided that question..
I'd say that the "successor" to the P6800 is the upcoming N5100 model. That's the Note 8.0 with GSM dialing capability. I'd like to see the smaller 7.7 form factor updated since it's more easily pocketable, but if my P6800 died I'd consider the new one. Negri is taking pre-orders now.
Well it's not going to be th Tab 3 either, based on specs. What is Samsung waiting for?

It wont come. Super amoled plus has some brand power as it is samsung works, but admittedly pls lcd or ips are taking over with more market share. Amoled save power when display black but guess what, it also consume more power when display white, the same in reverse order with lcd. It makes them even. But nowaday most websites are bright colour, so it is easy advantage for lcd. So another amoled device from samsung wont come. Another advantage Amoled has is visibility in direct sunlight. This is what tips amoled for me. I don't want to go back to lcd or something that I cannot view in sunlight.
No thats wrong. Amoled has better contrast and seems to be more colourful, but in terms of visibillity under sun light, lcd clear win (cause they use led lcd and consume more power). Its hard for amoled to see under sunlight but it is more colorful so thats a fake effect you got. Try under direct bright sunlight, amoled surely lose
