Data Usage Count of Text Msg. - Vibrant General

Just wondering how much MB data usage counted toward the pure text msgs with no attachments?

Minuscule I believe.

I think it was something small, so T-Mobilr doesn't count it against a data plan if you have one.

I don't beleive (sms) text messages use data at all.
Text messages are transmitted in "unused" space of the control voice channel. (that's why there's a size limit)

Extended Text Message Question

Hello everyone. I apologize if this question has been asked already.
On my "dumb" phones like LG etc. in Verizon network, I can send text message by 1,000 characters w/ extended text message. I think it sends multiple messages encoded in a special way to get past the 160 character SMS limit.
But, on my Windows Mobile devices, I can only send/receive 160 char messages, and when I receive 161+ char message, I receive a notice saying that the text message has been modified to be compatible with this device.
Why is "dumb phone" so much better to handle extended text messages but Windows Mobile cannot receive? It's a little bit oxymoronic, don't you think? Is there any way to enable extended text messaging functionality to windows mobile devices? Thanks in advance!
odd when i go over 160 it tells me that 2 sms's will be sendt maybe it's a setting
or something in your rom
I can send, but it doesn't compile them all into one single extended text message. So recipient receive many text message all at one time... they say it's annoying.
Then, if they send me extended text message, I receive 160 char, and after that.. it break away and say "extended message has been truncated due to a lack of support for enhanced messaging on this device."

anyway to increase sms from 160 charcters ?

hi - one thing i find really annoying about WM phones is when i send sms messages, it splits them up into separate txts of 160 charcters.
when other people send me sms msgs (probably from non WM phones), all the text is contained in th one sms regardless of the number of charcters they sent.
is there anyway to do this on wm phones ?
"Depending on which alphabet the subscriber has configured in the handset, this leads to the maximum individual Short Message sizes of 160 7-bit characters, 140 8-bit characters, or 70 16-bit characters (including spaces)."
You cannot increase size of sms, but I understand what you are talking about. Never had same issue, will test on my HD at home later

25 SMS Maximum??

Why can my inbox only contain 25 SMS at the maximum?
Is there any way to increase this as my Sent Items has everything i've ever sent!
are you sure that the 25 texts aren't from your sim (sim cards can usually store 25 texts). The HD can store a 'limitless' amount of texts (it continues to store it on the ROM, so as long as you have free space, it will continue to keep storing them...we're talking bout thousands of texts). Otherwise I'm not aware of a setting which limits the number of inbox texts on the HD. Does it erase the oldest text when u get a new one, or just not store the new one? Also, can you make sure you're looking at the right inbox?
Nop, your in box can contain a limitless number of sms (right now I have almost 200 sms).
When you go to messages you have a limit to 25 displayable sms in a single conversation (i think the system roughly associate every message from a contact to the same conversation).
When you go beyond this limit of 25 sms, on the top (before the older message displayed) will appear a link saying older that will access you to the older 25 messages page. The only strange thing I noted is that sometimes is necessary to click many times to go to the others "page".
Anyway I don't know where are stored the message, but would be interesting in order to manage them in some other way.
25 is limit of sms displayed by TF3D: in inbox there isn't a limit (I have 1402 sms).
You can try HDTweak 0.54: Messages SMS/MMS -> 2.3 Classic View and in SMS tab choose "all"

Text Messages Deleted

All of a sudden today my messaging app and handcent sms crashed. so i decided to turn off my phone and reboot it. now all my messages are gone. is there anyway to get them back? cause this really sucks. i had everything there.
I was told when the reserved memory amount for text messages reach a certain level it will purge all text messages. Sounds like you reached that limit.
Aw man. I didn't know this. That sucks, I had some mms pictures I hadn't saved yet. thanks man.
I know the iphone doesn't purge messages. Is there someway to increase the reserve? I don't wasn't my phone to erase all messages when the reserve is met.
Messaging>settings
uncheck delete old messages as limits are reached
yea, that's already unchecked. been unchecked and still all my messages were deleted.

Text messaging is laggy & older messages not being deleted

I'm on stock Android 4.4.4 with root. I'm using the native app for text messaging and lately is has become really slow. My suspicion is I have too many multimedia messages so I lowered the multimedia message limit to five per conversation. I have since rebooted the phone and been using it for hours, however, when I go into text conversations and scroll thru the messages, I can see that there are many more than five multimedia messages in each conversation. I have the "delete old messages" option checked so shouldn't any older multimedia messages be automatically deleted once the limit of five is reached?
Anyone else have the issue where older text messages are not being deleted? Particularly MMS.
