Changing file premissions

Hello,
Today i flashed the new froyo firmware and cant write anything on my external sd card if i connect it to the pc. I rooted the phone and downloaded root explorer, but i cant manage to change the premissions of the internal sd and external sd card.
I however can change permissions to other files so the app and root is working fine.
Does it have something to do with the firmware or with my phone... i have no clue anymore. I am nearly desperate and about to downgrade to some older rom. Saw some other guys posting same problem but noone seemed to care. I am opening a new thread as my 2 questions didn't get answered in the development section under the froyo debate...
Please again if anyone is so kind to reveal the secret to this i am sure many people will be happy...
tnx again and sorry for spamming but as i sad i am loosing my hopes

It al started when i restored factory settings on my phone with Azure 1.01

ANYONE can help me please????
I really want my phone back
Check the Development section for the thread "easiest way to unroot". I had a similar problem to yours and this resolved it for me. You might need to format your SD card to FAT32 before staring though and seeing as you cant mount your phone you're probably going to need an external card reader for your SD card.

[q] help with sd card

i been trying to reformat my sd card for 3 hrs now and i get "windows cannot complete format at this time" error..i even go into and try to manually delete programs and folders and they just show back up..how can i get these folders off my sd so i can reformat?..i have searched this issue already and cant find my answer..please help..
Please post in the correct section. Your SD card's internal formatting is bad, and your card will need to be replaced.
Sry bout wrong section..is there anyway to fix.can I take a strong magnet to it.

...what in the world would a magnet do? No, once it has lost it's format, there is no reeasonable way to recover it.
for future reference, where should i have put this..and is there an unreasonable way to fix it??
In the general section, which is where basically all questions go...and yeah, you can buy a profesional flash memory reformatter....which is around 200USD...just buy yourself a new 40 dollar SD card and be done with it.

[Q] Accidently formated sd card

Hey everybody I accidently formatted my sd card yesterday. I put the sd card in my computer to remove some pics from the phone and add them into the computer. Some how I put it to format and now everything is gone . All my apps seem to still be working, info still in phone, still seem to be rooted and s-off. I was wondering if I needed to add anything into the sd card so everything stays working or it's ok blank?
SD card contents will not effect s-off status. If you had moved any apps to the SD they will have been deleted. You should be fine though. If you want to recover data lost from your SD there are programs out there that can do that for you. Just do a little Google searching and I'm sure yoy could find a trial program or something.

oh ok sounds good..nah I had a bunch of things I really didn't want anymore that was taking up alot of space..is there a way that when I uninstall an app that it erases everything related to it from the sd card because everytime I look in it there's alot of files and folders and I'm not sure if I need them or not so I leave them there and I was runnung out of space. If not it's ok I'll just reformat the sd card when it's almost full but save what I want first.
Use Recuva. It has saved my tail a lot, and is completely free.

SD Card wont affect S-off status at all.. although if you lost your part7backup file, you can't revert back to S-ON again. Some apps throw a bit of their data on the SD Card, but nothing to be extremely worried about.
oh ok..I dont think I would want S-on cuz I like having the freedom of choosing whatever gsm service I want but it's good to know..I'm not really worried about the data from apps on the sd card I just dont like that it's still there after I uninstalled the app and it"s taking up unnecessary space but I guess it's something I have to live wit NO BIGGIE..thanks for everybodies help I appreciate it
