Thanks glad to c it back for our beloved cappy.

so after you generate the file you flash it with CWM in recovery and that's it? This will replace your current ROM, Kernel,etc...?

Yep, it will replace all of it.
Very nice. Some of the files are a bit outdated, like Talon, but I ain't complaining as I get to create my own ROM haha.
One thing though, some of the stuff like the ROM base, it says JVO v4, JV9 v5, JV5 v6, does that mean JV5 is the latest version? And does it matter what CSC files we use?
For the keyboards, there's multiples of the same type of keyboard, like different swype versions. Does it matter which we use?
if im on serendipity 7 would it be better to make a no wipe or wipe JVO rom from here and how would u install
Bootloopin' boogy
Got stock GB wiped, dalvik cleared, factory reset flash the rom I made and its bootloopin time. For reference here is the file name of my rom.

Going to flash back to stock GB and make another one.

I also had bootlooping on my captivate. I'm going to flash stock gingerbread and try again
I also had the same boot looping problem... the problem was fixed when I turned off the phone and flashed talon's 0.2.1 kernel in place of the outdated one supplied by the kitchen. Seems to be working very smoooth. GPS gives a quick fix on me, Calls are clear, Messages go out fine, and Titanium restored everything without issue. Of course I've only had this running for about 10 mins now, but I tried all the important things first. Seems very stable once the kernel is replaced. I'm on JV5 for the first time and it is very quick.
I hope other people give this a shot.
Just know that it will boot loop until you flash a new kernel.
JV5_Wipe-v6-06-38-36-09-06-4df04e4520cd9
After checking the rom more I noticed my Home button did not work... I don't know if this is just for JV5 or not.
Ok I think I have this figured out. I took the kernel from Continuum... The newest, Talon 0.2.2 and also took the 2 key folders from that zip... They are located in the new continuum system/usr folder.
The two folders are named: system/usr/keychars
system/usr/keylayout
Delete those from the zip you receive and replace them with the two from the newest continuum zip and the home button will function properly.
Again, I have only tested this on the JV5 ROM offered from ROM Kitchen. It has the fastest boot I've seen period. Very smooth and everything seems to work once you figure out those couple things. It's worth it to me and I hope this helps it be of some worth to others. Thanks
Oooh cool! I always wanted to make my own rom!

This is the port of Jim/Hamster's v6 ROM. This ROM uses Xcaliburinhand's i9000 Reoriented Kernel, and Da_G's GPS fix (coming in the next release). You do not need to download and flash the kernel separately! ONLY DOWNLOAD THE ROM.
ROM: http://www.mediafire.com/?ho32p7oi4zffy49
Original ROM thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844514
Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808286
How to flash:
Place ROM on the root of the SD card
Back up your apps using Titanium Backup or the backup app of your choice
Launch ROM Manager (Downloadable from the market)
Select "Install ROM from SD card"
Choose ROM. When prompted, check "Wipe data/Cache". This WILL wipe your data.
Let the phone sit for 5-10 minutes before setting up.
If I made any typos or grammatical errors, feel free to let me know.
The only thanks I want (for now ) are followers on twitter.com/ytt3r.

Ha I just tried that rom, the original one that is.
Did you change the cool boot animation (non English) and change things around to be a USA release or so?
I only modified the way it installs and the kernel, but there are a few other tweaks I'm going to be making.

Yes, it will have a prerequisite of anything with voodoo enabled. From there you just flash a zip and boot.

Personally if i were you i would wait for a more stable release, theres has been vast improvements in the kernel up till now but its still not ready for day to day use for everyone, plus if your unsure how to install it then you probably shouldn't ! But if you must , the method i used was flashed back to stock, gsm reset (code=*2767*3855#) which wipes all your memory, then flash darkys rom v7 and enable voodoo after phone boots and reboot it, then flash the gb kernel through clockwork recovery.... also i had to reboot the phone after installing the kernel to get 3g working...good luck

Consumers of ROMS sometimes forget that devs have family too.
Merry Christmas and Best Wishes to you and your family. Wish the same to all the devs.
Cheers!!
Thanks DG! Happy Holidays to everyone. Cant wait for more stable version too.
woot woot. finally a method i could do!! this does leave me some questions though.
is it possible to just flash to stock 2.2 (instead of a custom rom), install voodoo5, and than install the zip through rom manager?
http://project-voodoo.org/download
the voodoo stable 5.0, is that for the captivate? just making sure, dont want to download something thats for the i9000.
and lastly! if anything goes wrong, flashing one click odin will solve everything correct? all the changes (aka the eff ups) i made should return to stock settings?
sooo excited!!
edit. to eleborate on my voodoo worries.
will reflashing with odin to stock, change my kernal back to the stock one or will it keep voodoo? just wondering because i was wondering if its required that i disable (or uninstall) voodoo before i use odin to restore or could i just use odin after testing the rom out without any disabling/enabling.
edit 2:
shoot forgot to ask, what are the usb files for? im gut tells me their the files needed for the comp to recognize the captivate after flashing. and second, does this require a root? and this is the LOL question, could i just rename the 2.3 file a "update.zip" and install it like that or do i have to do the whole clockwork thing. Six question. geez im dumb.
Merry Xmas!
The 1.1 Stable Download is available in Rom Manager now with limited options. I will be adding more as I find the time to.
Well, after many hours of trial and error, testing, and confusion I'm very proud to present the first open beta for Blackhole Build-Your-Own Rom on the HTC Thunderbolt.
Standard disclaimer:
While no Custom Rom can ever claim to be completely safe, and the very act of rooting your phone voids your warranty, I do my best to make sure that any Rom I release is fully tested. That said, if something does go wrong I am not responsible for loss of time/money/data/sanity/limbs/life that results directly or indirectly from the use of this Rom. Please enjoy responsibly.
Changelog:
Based on the latest RUU leak (1.13.605.7)
Deodexed
Rooted with Busybox
All bloat removed
Most stock apps removed
Added advanced power options mod
Added apps:
Widget Picker
Remaining stock apps:
Calendar
Camera
Contacts
Gmail

1.1 Changelog:
Added 6 signal bar mod (Thanks TeamBamf)
Added Accurate Battery (Thanks TeamBamf)
Added Transparent Notification Area (Thanks TeamBamf)
Added Power Options in Notification Area(Thanks JSChiSurf)
Various file-system and build.prop tweaks.

Occasional reset during first run of Setup Wizard (only happened twice out of 10-20 /data wipes during testing) Fixed in 1.1 update.
Because I cannot test everything I rely on you guys to report any issues you have. Please be specific, let me know what triggers the issue, if you find a workaround, the specific error message you get (if any) and all the detail you can provide.
DATA WIPE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED

Visit Androiddoes for FAQ's, a list of the latest Rom Manager updates and the official error reporting thread. Also you can find info on how to get early access to the Rom if interested.
Great! So all of this will be linked to Rom Manager? Meaning, we get the ROM there as well as choose what will go on it and then flash? Or, do we grab the ROM from a link provided, and use Rom Manager to personalize it?
Also, is the kernel going to be a separate flash based on our needs or will you include one (or some choices) in the Rom?
Thanks for your work!

The Rom will be in Rom Manager as well, so you'll select the Rom option, and it will give you a bunch of different lists to choose one or more options from, such as:
Music - Stock or AOSP player
Browser - Stock or choice of market browsers
Launcher - Sense, LauncherPro, ADW, GoLauncher, etc.
Stock apps - Add back any removed apps you may want
Theme - Select from available themes (added with permission of creators)
Kernel - Pick the kernel you want with the Rom (added with permission)
Mods - choose which mods are preinstalled
(These are just examples and may not be available right away, or ever)
Blackhole aims to be an all in one experience.
I also try to make it easy to try different things and modify the Rom after it's installed. Every option that you can choose when you flash the Rom for the first time can be chosen later to change things up. These options even work on most other roms too.
Thank you for your question, I apologize if I've been a bit too long winded.
Nice. I already see you in rom manager. Looking forward to try it when rom manager access complete. Thanks.
loved blackhole on the fascinate.. can't wait
So just going through the motions in Rom Manager I can see that this thing has great potential. Was this made originally for Galaxy phones? Seems to be a lot of options for Touchwiz and de-binged apps? Is there or will there be options for sense items. I personally like using sense just all the verizon stuff de-bloated.. I know it is work in progress and looks great. This weekend when I have time I will give it all a go and see how it runs..
Can't wait to see how this grows. Will be a nice option for people that I know that are not really good at setting up custom looks on their phones. Reminds me of Adamz Smoked Glass on the D1 back in the day when he made setup files in recovery to choose what you wanted.. Again awesome work..

Yes the rom was made for the Verizon Samsung Fascinate first, and I'm using that manifest to work in the Thunderbolt options more easily.
I plan to have all of the Stock apps including sense, widgets, themes, wallpapers, etc. available eventually.
I actually took my inspiration for this rom from the Droidmod installer from my D1. When I upgraded I saw there was nothing like that for the fascinate and decided to make it myself. It just kinda caught on from there.
I loved your Blackhole rom on the Fascinate. Its great to see you put one together for the T-Bolt!

Ok, here it is guys! I know all you stock captivators have been anticipating this!
This is the stock KH3 and now KI1/KI2 kernel with clockwork recovery injected. Also my first go at a project like this.
The only issue I see is that /system won't unmount, so no nandroid backups (they won't restore). /system will now unmount, but restoring a nandroid backup will totally bork your phone, don't even try! (unless you are ready to odin/heimdall back!)
I have to give a huge thanks to eXistZ, he helped point me in the right direction, and generously gave me scripts he uses. And let me bug him on a regular basis. Thanks dude! And a thanks to Chainfire for pointing me in the right direction to finding why system wouldn't unmount.
Anyone is available to use the kernel any way they like. Cook it in roms released here, flash it to your personal rom, or stock KH3! Take it apart, look at the pieces, see if you can make it better! I am far from a pro at this, and it may not be perfect, use at your own risk..yada yadda.
Nandroid is still broken, still looking into it.
Update 9/11/11
I am releasing this now, because it appears that the /system not unmounting issue causes problems for full wipe roms, with big system changes. This should help. Just don't try to do a nandroid restore, it will make your phone hang at the at&t logo! You have been warned!
It is also possible to format /system from cwm if anyone feels the need (you can't boot after, so only do so if you are also planning on also installing a rom).
The links below should be fixed to point at the new versions.
KH3
Here is the odin flashable version flash it first if your on stock: Link Mirror
Here is the KH3 cwm flashable kernel5! Flash it second to get init.d support if your on stock or don't already have cwm LINK It has init.d support and the same tweaks listed for the KI1/KI2 kernel below.
Here is a heimdall package for stock kh3 with the cwm kernel3 built in. Link It will wipe your phone! Make A backup as necessary. Hopefully it can help people go from stock to a custom rom in fewer steps, or recover from a soft brick Let me know if you find an issue with it. It contains factory.rfs, dbdata.rfs, chache.rfs, param.lfs, modem.bin and the cwm_kernel zImage.
KI1 KI2
Update 9/29/11
I'm just going to do one version for KI1/KI2 now that it appears the same kernel will work on both.
Here is the original odin flashable kernel to give you cwm, flash it first to get cwm if you don't already then flash the cwm with init support. Link And my original post with the stock kernel.
Now for the good stuff!
mtcarey modded my kh3 kernel here, to add init.d support, made changes to allow ADB / DDMS to run as root, and symlinks from Busybox to "ls" and "ps" have been removed from /sbin so that DDMS will work correctly. They now fall back to Toolbox links in /system/bin. Thank him in his thread! Awesome work! I think I have all of those mods pulled to ki1/ki2, plus:
+ Juwe11's LMK settings
+ Tweaked Kernel Scheduler Settings
+ Tweaked IO Scheduler Settings
+ Tweaked Ondemand Governor/Sampling Rate
+ Tweaked Readahead to 512 on internal/external SDs (mmcblk blocks)
You can get it here: Link Mirror
If your on stock you will need to flash the odin version to get cwm then the new tweaked one for the init.d scripts, /etc/init.d/S99complete is needed! If you remove it, the phone won't boot!
For any of you losing root when you flash my kernel or for anyone on straight stock, you can get root by flashing ChainsDD root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828 or what I mention below.
If your on straight stock and don't already have cwm, flash my odin version first, then ChainsDD from the above link, or:
Grab my cwm zip that I made from ChainsDD and my latest kernels (with tweaks)
KH3 and root
KI1/KI2 and root
Hopefully those will help.

I've heard word of "the best" battery life. Can anyone attest to this? I can't believe that from Samsung's track record....
Great work!! Flashing after post. Far as battery life. Every phone and phone user is different. So life varies. Me I crank brightness up use wifi, and GPS always. Like tonight buying a car 260 mile round trip used GPS to get there started with 100% and was. On 26% whenever I got there. Just appreciate that you have a device that makes your life easy and fun! I always turn wifi off and do my best to conserve battery. The captivate is truely a bad ass device. My brother was over last night. And we were playing with phones. He dropped his iPhone 4 and used my cappy cause its better he said

*Phone will reboot if you press power button after you have enabled 'show navigation bar toggle ' in settings-- rom control-- power menu options . So just dont enable it.
*There is most likely more (that is what this thread is for).

Do you think you could get gps to work on this the same way that you did on the aosp+ rom?

Maybe. Let me give a try. I have to go out of town (Casino time) so probably not until Sunday.

Ok, no rush I don't use gps but im sure other would like to.
Beta 1.1 is up, just some small changes (listed in the OP). No need to wipe if coming from beta 1, going to bed now let me know what you think. Enjoy
Loved Roman's earlier roms (Project V, etc. ).
The only problem I had so far was I lost access to my sdcard but a reflash solved that. So far as smooth and fast as OneCosmic's rom. Will post more observations in couple days after I've had a chance to experiment will all the settings.
Beta 1.2 is up change log in OP, wifi seems slow but i think it might be my connection (let me know if you flash).
Might have a theme too (from the nexus forum) have to test.
jeremy, check out these animations. They are for the AOKP framework.

pretty cool.

Thanks, those are nice ill have to try them out see if they work and ill put the link in the OP.
Having some lag with 1.2 without wiping, going to wipe and see if it fixes it. So if you are coming from 1.1 you might have to wipe, i will update.
Edit: so yeah installed with full wipe (factory/reset, format system, cache, and dalvik cache) and back to being really smooth.
Beta 1.3 is up, changelog in OP. If you dont care for the theme just flash 1.2 its the same thing without theme. Looks awesome, nice and dark.
This is the ****!! I actually built my own kang from the 9000 thread aokp and Glitch b3 and all the other requisites and then some and it's smoother than cm,ics 4.2,especially pa××ion lol. This is butter and codenameandroid is a speed demon.Top 2 Secret ROM Clubs...
Downloading and will be flashing 1.3 tonight. Now I don't have to flash the inverted gapps myself
I'm loving how much you can customize the rom. I especially love getting back the convenience of the toggle switches in the notification screen and being able to unlink the ringer and notification volumes.
The only issues I've had so far was some lag in scrolling but using your suggested best performance setting fixed that. The only other thing I noticed was that apps like Cache Cleaner NG or Permission Explorer, actually any app that scans the app folders, seem to take a long time to scan.
I also cannot not mention this: a pink unicorn? What are they thinking? It does set this rom apart but it's bit much. Luckily you can change the boot screen animation.
Thanks, jeremy2420, for porting this rom. I appreciate your work.

Hey thanks glad you like it, I was going to wait on the apps for the next build but I got bored.
The scanning bug I've noticed with having a lot of song on my Ext SD, so the media scanner stays on and kills the battery. But I went into app management and killed the media process, seems to fix that.
Edit: as far as the lag give it a day or so it goes away all together, mine was doing the same and now its smooth.
Thanks for this rom! I've been enjoying it. Was using passion v13r1, then the i9000 version of the rom. i just flashed this straight over and didn't really have any problems until today (reboots after selected a notification, reboots when video stops playing, etc). i decided to give nelson's latest kernel a try and it seems to be working better (for me). i always had trouble with glitch on my phone...
Anyway, using passion v13_boot3 kernel, sio & smartassv2, 200-1200. it's only been a few hours, but everything is working nicely so far.
Thanks again!
Build 23 will be out some time today, i put a poll up to see if you guys prefer the newest gapps (4.04) or the inverted ones (4.0.3). Not sure what changed but I know some people like the latest and greatest. Im sure it wont take to long be for the new gapps get inverted.
