I had a thread specifically regarding the timezone not saving after I reboot. If a mod reads this can you merge them? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14545336#post14545336
I tried changing the name of the thread with no luck.
I also saw in another thread someone mentioned pictures taken from their tab disappear after rebooting.
I am thinking that during the shutdown process some of the tabs are not saving all settings properly.
Anyone have any suggestions besides a master reset?
unclear solution
Some similar posts suggested the problem was due to encrypting the tablet.
My tablet was encrypted. I did a factory reset and set the time zone on setup. I have not re-encrypted it yet and the time zone has saved. I'm debating whether or not to encrypt it again.

I encrypted my tablet and everything seemed to work without a problem, but every time I restart the tablet, I get a dialog box that says:
Apkinstaller
All pre-installer processes complete!
[OK]
and, more importantly, it's reset my timezone to GMT 0:00.
Anyone come across this issue?

Yes. Both are known issues I believe. The timezone issue was heavily reported in Xoom forums. Neither affects usage of the device - it's just that you have to set the timezone at every reboot. Since I only reboot if mucking as root in the system and need to make some changes happen... it doesn't bother me.
Every time I reboot my tablet the time zone resets to 0.00. I searched the forum and couldn't find any other threads on this.
Is anyone else having or had this issue?
So far this and the default media player: nemoplayer shutting down randomly are the only issues I have had.

Well i am having the same issue that no matter what i do i am not been able to set the correct time zone and this is killing me lol
shutdown issue?
I am starting think the issue may not beee specific to the timezone but more of a shutdown issue. I saw in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14545336#post14545336
someone say that after he restarted his pictures taken from his laptop were not saved.
Have you encrypted the tablet I had the same issue only when my tablet was encrypted
Assuming you are running encrypted, it is a bug. From what I have read the xoom has the same issue and was corrected in 3.1... time will tell I suppose
date and time
i posted a thread on here got no answer but try re booting with the charger on if time zone is ok it s a mini battery problem best buy exchanged mine good luck
Another data point...
I am experiencing the same issue here. And yes my tab is also encrypted.
I seem to be able to resolve the issue by deselecting "Automatic date & time" in the "Date & Time" settings area.
Hopefully this is corrected in 3.1

Anyone tried this on the new 3.1 leaks? I am running picasso but don't want to have to wipe and reset if it isn't fixed...
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Having posted a query re an issue I'm having with the pattern security screen sometimes not appearing I've realised that I've other issues with the phone. The other issue being the wifi periodically not switching over to my home network automatically and again this is something that's only been happening for the last 5 or 6 months.
So maybe it's time for a hardware reset as I've already tried a system cache clearance to no avail. I used to do this (hardware reset) after every system update but having had about 3 system updates in the last 6 months it gets a bit much.
Generally what I do after the reset is allow Google to reinstall my apps and of course this means having to re-login and set up options. Is there an easier/faster option? I'm sure I've heard of people using something like titanium backup before trying out various roms! I never investigated this option as I've always thought it was better to install apps cleanly rather than backup and possibly inherit underlying problems.
Got a Joying SoFIA head unit, 2GB RAM
The problem I've run into is that every time the head unit restarts it essentially does a factory reset without deleting my apps. All of my login info is gone, my settings reset (which causes problems as I have the google app installed and it resets it to the default launcher #3 that doesn't work with the google app), etc. This isn't a problem as long as it never shuts down completely, but since it only stays in dormancy for a few days and it's not uncommon for me to go longer without driving its a pretty big pain.
I haven't rooted my it yet so I'm not sure if that will help; any suggestions or anyone else with a similar issue?
Have you gone into the setting menu and done a full data wipe/factory reset?

I haven't. Not sure how that would fix the issue of the settings resetting every time it restarts? I can try it though.
Hey I had the same problem after upgrading from the update 12th May to 25th May. Device started and all settings were gone, Google Account was removed, but my apps was installed - but all savings from the app was removed too. So I hoped to get all settings back If i start the device again. And after that I have the same problem like you. I tried anythinh and one user said I have to try to install the update again. After that it start normally, BUT I have setup all again. I think they have problems with the actual update version.

Maybe it's just a bug in the current update. Did it eventually work for you or are you still having the same problem?
Don't waste time searching for a solution.... wipe is the only solution to your problem. It happened to me and many others. Update, without a wipe is not a good option for these units.
OK this is weird.
I have my Note 3 running on Norma ROM v17 without problems and a ton of apps installed.
Few days ago I tried to use smart select (with the pen) when a toast message prompted "Unable to capture screenshot. Prevented by security policy." . Well I just ignored for the moment thinking that something went wrong with facebook app which I was trying to capture.
However this seems to be permanent behavior. I can't take screenshots neither by Power + Home combination neither by SmartCapture not even if I try to use a third party application!
Did anyone had faced the same problem again?
Can somebody point me to the direction to solve this?
One last addition.
I don't know if it is related to this problem but I have to report it. The device boot animation is getting resized to top left of the screen every time the device boots. What on earth can cause this?
I"m back wirh a solution.
I was for more days trying to discover how to solve this problem.
Finally I decided to backup my data and wipe the system.
And then I noticed a command lying in the menu called "Reset settings" which I had to try instead of resetting to factory default the phone.
So this command cleared the settings (I really dont know which particular settings were cleared though ) without losing my apps, data, phone setup etc.
The problem fixed.
