Both my friend and I can't send texts or access web. Haven't tried calling but the signal strength is at 5 bars.
Southern California. He has a stock unrooted MT4G too. Mine is running faux's Nexus rom.

I have searched all around for a solution, but couldn't find one. I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue. I live in Minneapolis, where my phone nearly always displays full bars in 3g. Whenever using the 3g for more than about 5 minutes, it just stops working. The full bars are still there, but the internet or any data just doesn't work.
I don't know if this is a T-mobile issue or just my phone, but the reps at T-mobile had no clue of what I was talking about. If anyone could help by responding that would be great. Thanks.

TThe issues I've been having is that im on EDGE and very rarely will it jump over to 3G and when it does its only about 2 bars..
Has anyone tried it yet?
And if you have, what has your data been like?
I know ST runs on At&t's 3G, but I've notice people complaining about slow speeds.
Thank you before hand

Mine works fine. I flashed the Mi7 rom and getting 3G+ from different location.
I don't recall seeing 3G+ with stock rom.
Before I try a factory reset I wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. Have a unlocked rooted AT&T Galaxy S4 SGH-I337 running 5.01 on straigh talk. Before the update I had great signal strength and data speed even though I'm located in a rural are in eastern oregon but after the update my signal went to crap. Where I use to have full bars I now consistantly get two or it will lose signal and regain it continually through out the day. It seems to only happen when I have my data on, it will just drop and show the circle with the diagnol line throught it. Is anybody else experiancing this? Also I'm still using the same apn settings (which worked great)as I was on KitKat. It's almost like 5.01 messed up the radio.
my previous Nexus 6P had 4 bars constantly whist sitting around the house. After recieving my S8, ive noticed it only has one bar and frequently drops signal. anyone elce noticed this? i just popped my sim from the 6P into my S8, would using the SIM it came with potentally fix this? or is it just the phone?

I'm getting better reception, but I'm in NY. I didn't use the old SIM card because this phone is the only one capable of using MIMO in T-Mobile Network. I decided to use the SIM card that came with the phone. It's recommended for you to be able to use WiFi Calling.
If I understand correctly what I was told, there is a bug between the Wi-Fi calling to preferred calling method, AND an issue with the fast.tmobile apn. If you switch Wi-Fi calling off and change it to the 2G/3G setting, the phone SHOULD go to the the 4G (HPSA) mode for whatever reason and work.
It's there some other work around I've missed? I'm a noob so go easy on me. Lol
I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this or knew of a fix. I have the t modeled S5 with AT&t network. My signal is constantly just going from full bars to dropping to none. Even when calling people I get a distorted sound (the signal going out) then the voice clears back up (gained signal strength). It's very frustrating and I was just curious as if anyone had any clue what's up with it.
Thanks
