Contact pics?

So i got fed up with widgets and google voice not showing contact pics. So i removed my facebook and twitter account. But there is still no pictures where before when i would unlink a contact the pic would start working. But none of them work in these apps. I've tried resyncing the google contacts and still no pictures. What can i do short of wiping my phone? thanks

So this what i did to kinda fix the problem.
I noticed when i logged into my facebook account it would start loading up all the pics from my google acount (which is what i want) once it was done with that it started to replace them with facebook images which would make the widgets and google voice go blank again. So i just logged into facebook and waited till most of my pctures showed up then removed the facebook account partway through the sync. Now i have my google contact pictures in voice. Well most of them anyway. I guess it will do for now untill i can figure out a way to manually control these pictures. Damn u motoblur

If the pictures are from facebook they will only show up on your contacts. third party software cannot access facebook data, which is a decision made by facebook. It is not motoblur related.

Ah that makes sense but it doesn't explain my orginal problem that now that i've removed the facebook account none of those apps have any pictures (even though i do have pics with my google account) if i could just get those back and working fully id be happy

Maybe remove your google account and facebook account to try and clear all your contacts. Then re add your google acct and not the facebook account. Im not too sure.

Nah i tried removing my google account its the master account and it told me to do a format in the system options. Im almost considering it but i need to get all the apps i want all orginized so it doesn't take me forever to reinstall.
I figure by now someone would have made an app or be a menu in the system for controlling contact pictures. It seems the mtoblur sync for facebook (because the offical facebook account can't be used on the droid x) and once its synced just says its the contact pictures now and doesn't give any option not to turn it off. I really do like the status updates when people call but id rather be able to see contact pictures on my homescreen.

already formated but maybe i'll look at that app this time around for syncing some of my pictures, do you guys know of anyway that I could sign into the facebook moto blur account and not have picture synced? because isn't that the only program that will show me status updates when someone calls?

Picasa sync

Hi
I used to be able to sync my pics to Picasa in the gallery and view my Picasa pics with cm mod on my HTC magic. Is there a way I can do this on the DHD? I know you can sync Flickr but I don't use it.

same here, i use the picsa with the stock rom that come with my nexus, thats work like
cream with the stock gallery, and now i can't, so i use the Picasa in the browser...

It does seem weird that Picasa, a Google product, isn't supported, but Flickr is.
I use Pixelpipe to sync my photos to Picasa.

I was getting the same issue. It appears to be a problem with 2.2, not the handset.
The only way I found of getting around this was to do a hard reset (Settings> SD & Phone Storage > Factory data reset) and skip the Google sign in, then once I was passed all the set up data entry open Market and log in to Google form there.
Since then I can upload to my picasa account no problems.
a hard reset does not erase data on the SD card but it does on the phone so it might be an idea to back up your Apps to first.

I tried that before doing the factory reset but it didn't work.

sorry to hear that not sure why it doesn't word on your phone when it works on mine. I have included a screen shot of my google account on my Desire HD after installing the app showing the picasa sync option.

No, I got it working but I had to to doa factory reset and skip signing in to Google in the set up screens. I had the 3d gallery installed before this and I tried it but didn't work. Only reset and signing in to Google via Market got Picasa working for me.
Annoying how random all this can be...

Just thought that id mention that this is avilable in the market, there is also another good app called picasa tool pro (its free).
Gallery3d is simpler to use though.

I was missing Picasa Webalbums sync and icon in the Gallery HTC Desire HD. Synchronization of my gallery and Picasa did not occur.
This was the solution for me :
Go to the app HTC Hub (if not there, add HTC Sense to your Accounts and Synchronization). Then, go to Apps and Plugins. De-select the "Picasa Webalbums" plugin. Reboot. Go back to HTC Hub app and enable the plugin.

why are there two facebook applications?

Why are there two facebook applications on the mytouch 4G? One is called just facebook and one is called facebook for mytouch? When I upload pictures I can use both programs with different interfaces for uploading. Only facebook for mytouch is syncing my contacts.

The Facebook for myTouch is the one built into the phone. The that just says Facebook is the Facebook independent application that you downloaded from the marked. You don't need the Facebook app from the market for most things. So, if you want to make your send-to list look cleaner then you can unstall your downloaded Facebook app.
Out of the box the phone only has "Facebook for myTouch" and the fb integration is used to read and update statuses (friend stream, built in account sync, etc).

Thank you. That helped a lot. Just one question regarding updates. How is the facebook for mytouch application updated when not through the market?

How do you do status updates and stuff from the integrated one?

I deinstalled the facebook application and left only the facebook for mytouch application on the phone. You can do only status updates etc over the friends stream widget I guess. That is stupid. I reinstalled the facebook application again because I never use the friend stream widget anyway. I will remove the facebook for mytouch account for syncing and add the normal facebook account (edit: just found out you cannot add the facebook account for syncing). I don't know why HTC implemented so many redundant functions...peep and twitter, cannot use picasa in the gallery anymore either because they integrated flickr...at least they should give us the choice.

Ya that's why I can't wait till cm6.1 gets stable for this phone.i came from a g2 on rc3 lol

[Q] Facebook contacts

I am currently on cm7 rc3 and before I downloaded this I had all my contacts linked to facebook but now when I go to my contacts it shows notes next to there name something like <htc data><facebook>id and alot of numbers. I have tried photo unlocker even dialer one but still does not give me the option to link contacts I also do have the facebook app. In my phone and did the sync setting with facebook and still nothing. When I used photo unlocker it did unlock about 3 contacts pics and facebook info. I just liked seeing all my facebook pics in phone book has anyone else ran into this problem and been able to fix it.

Not sure how well this would work being CM7 doesn't have HTC Sence but you could try installing the "Facebook for mytouch 1.0" apk thats in the stock T-Mo ROM i know thats the APP for stock that updates the linked contacts. Just make your you backup your everything in case it screw up your rom

Thanks a lot but I downloaded Easy sync and it worked great for syncing my facebook contact's it's a paid app but it was well worth it.

[Q] GingerBlur

Hi guys, first time poster, long time admirer (used to be stuck in the blackberry age). Anyway, I just rooted and installed gingerblur on my AT&T atrix 4g and I love it. However, I currently have a problem with it.
So the moto blur accounts are still present (intended i think?), and the facebook motoblur account I have active syncs the pictures to my contacts just fine, but when I open up the test messaging app, the picture for the contacts are blank? I tried deactivating the motoblur fb account, and just installing the fb app from the market to see if I could do it through that. But it seems like there is a whole list of options cut out of it, and there is no option to sync photos. It seems like the google contacts is not syncing with the motoblur fb account for some reason?
Has anyone run into/fixed this problem? Thanks for all the good work and help.
P.S.- I would have posted this in the Gingerblur post but I can't since I'm such a newb.

I never figured this out either. So I actually reactivated the old messaging that came with blur (it's in the GingerBlur thread somewhere), and that got it back. Kinda liked the speech bubbles anyway.

Ok so I guess I found a solution for all that are having this problem. I downloaded an app call syncmypix. Its free and pushes your Facebook freinds pictures to your Google account contacts, which in turn displays them on ur messaging app. Idk but something about the contacts is screwed up in this rom.

its the messaging.apk file on this rom you can pull the one from greyblur or just use an app to manage your SMS such as hancentSMS or i heard chompSMS also works

AFAIK google disallows facebook to intergrate with messaging and co. with gingerbread. As the gingerblur messaging apk is from gingerbread (as far as i know) it cant do its wizardry. Could be wrong though

Ohhh that makes so much sense now. I was so confused as to why the contacts would sync with the pictures and the messaging wouldn't. I'm glad I found that app then.
However I think on stock android gb devices, the fb app can sync the pictures, but since motoblur includes this in their accounts it screws everything up.
