[Q] 3g/UMTS disappering when activating GPS - G2 and Desire Z General

Hello
First of all thank you for a great forum
I've got my HTC Desire Z for about a week now, and got it permrootet and CWM bootloader installed, no problems there, and i installed the newest radio from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809 -
12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 that is
And have tried a couple of roms (CM 7.0.3, CM 7, Virtuois G-lite) but in common i have 1 nerve wrecking problem that i can't seem to get a solution for.
Sometimes when the gps is activated (google navigation) the 3g/UMTS connection disappers and no data connection is available, and it does not come back before i manually go into the menu and disable data and enable it again, its pretty frustrating.
I have tried the vision_efs_wipe AND the ril-libs fix with no effect - it was not a problem before it was rooted/new bootloader/radio (but with the old radio the data did not function at all with CM)
So, any suggestions? mayby downgrade the radio?
Any help is appreciated, have spent hours now googleing and searching forums
Thanks

Workaround for CM7 wifi issues

So yesterday, after having CM7 loaded for about 2 weeks, my wifi stops working.. After doing a bit of research I discover its a common problem, so I try the various solutions including changing the number of channels and both upgrading & downgrading my radio image, but nothing works.. Somewhere along the line I lost my ClockWorkMod recovery image & being the newbie that I am I decided to go back to the start & follow the process that I initially used to root (the one at unlockr.com), but at the last step, instead of installing the rootedupdate.zip file I decided to try my luck with installing CM7 again, & lo & behold it worked, wifi's working again...
not really sure which step of the root process fixed the issue but if I had to guess I'd say the correct radio image was flashed, maybe someone could properly identify the correct solution...?
My adb logcat session shows that its trying to connect to some network that is unavailable and fails. ı tried to remove the 2nd , 3rd offline networks and it started working.
thanks very much deleting the saved networks worked!! wifi back on

Indeed it works...but only for the first time. As soon as you disable WiFi and enable it once again, the problem is back. So you will have to delete the saved networks one by one, each time you want to connect and in the end you will have no more saved networks left (like me). Now the only "workaround" is to enter the network details every time I want to connect.
Is there still ni working solution for this?
still no WLAN
Having to choose the lesser evil between:
no GPS under CM 7.1 or
no WLAN under CM 7.0.3 I chose the latter.
The antenna works, tethering too, the signal is detected, but logging into a WLAN fails, it keeps scanning over and over. Deleting other networks didn't work.
Any hint?
BTW, I tried 7.2 nightlies... since Market (aka g-Play) is missing there is no real use so far.
Apart from that - CM rules!
I am using both of them right now and it is okay.
Sometimes I won't get any GPS fix and I have to switch it off and on again (or restart the phone in the worst case) to have signal.
CM 7.1 with latest radio (7.13.35.13).

Using cm7.2 last nightly and every thing works just fine! Give it a try!

The radio should be the difference here as it seems that CM > 7.1 don't have GPS bugs anymore.
Update your radio version to newest (7.13.35.13). Everything work fine in CM7.2 for me.
I know it s been a bit but thanks for the info helped alot deleting the random networks while out and about after deleting 3 wifi runs great

[Q] WiFi problem - "Unable to scan for networks"

Hi, guys!
I have a problem with my HTC HD2 WiFi. I've already installed more than 20 different ROM and still, I have the same problem:
When I'm turning on the Wifi, it's stuck on "Wi-Fi Scanning" and no networks on the list.
Worked fine on WM
Also, I've reinstalled many many ROMs, made repartition and reinstalled the whole thing from the beginning a couple of times (Task29, Radio...)
And updated the drivers for the wifi
I can't find solution for that thing.
Please help!

Encountered Market, GPS, WiFi problems with CM7 for HTC Click / HTC Tattoo

Hello there guys... These are my problems and some solutions for HTC Click / HTC Tattoo and CM7 (update-cm-7.1.0.1-click-signed.zip in time of writing - go to CyanogenMod HTC Click official thread) which I have found out, others, well I need help too.
Rooting
--------------------------------------------
- First I've tried with various m7 exploits and getting commands through adb, but since I am not a power user I could not really foresee what can happen and what can not. It took me a several hours of nervousness with potential break-down of both me and my phone (by me of course), to realize that root ain't going to happen that way (at least permanent root will not).
- Then an "epiphany" in form of Universal Androot 1.6.1 came in, and it worked from first HTC Click (little SEO here), all other methods seem to be sh.ty comparing to this little apk. It took me a several hours of thinking about hurting my self for not googling or search at XDA Forums prior.
Recovery
--------------------------------------------
- Well, learned by experience, recovery came easy. I've used 1Click method (which can also root your device, but I have already did it with Universal Androot, so it is your choice)
ROM Flashing
--------------------------------------------
- Well now there is a light in HTC Tatto / HTC Click (again SEO). I have installed Froyo AOSP 0.63 ROM, just to try everything. I had some problems with WiFi and there was no market installed. I tried to install market with gapps and everything came with market. But then again my wifi was not working so I said to my self: OK, let's go to CM7 they know what they are doing.
- Then I have turned ON GPS WiFi and bluetooth (just to be sure that everything will work with GingerBread ROM) and flashed CM7 from SD Card.
Enter problems.
Problems encountered
--------------------------------------------
First of all, I DON'T HAVE A FREAKIN' MARKET installed at all.
I have encountered WiFi problems (it could not find my home network which it has found on stock rom)
No GPS Icon in status bar when GPS ON, and I don't know if it is working properly.
No gapps and NO MARKET.
AND after I've tried to install gapps from some sources (which should work with CM7) my phone got a hang and was constantly looping CM7 logo. It would go on until I can see lock/unlock screen than it would hang and return to boot logo and then again to lock/unlock screen and it would loop until the end of world. I tried everything to flash again (first without wipe, then with wipe), get the battery out, reboot and so on, but problem persisted.
2. WiFi solution
--------------------------------------------
- I have found somewhere that if you go to -> Wifi Settings and press menu button while in settings there is a tab -> Advanced and when you go to -> Regulatory domain just change it to use all 14 channels instead of 11 as it is set by default. And voila my wifi is working. But there is no FREAKIN' MARKET. So I don't know for what should I use my wifi (of course I surf and check mail, but I don't want to do that on HTC Click's browser, I do it on my notebook).
5. Looping solution
--------------------------------------------
Then I've cleared all the /data, /boot, /system, /cache partitions from recovery 5.0.2.0 from "mounts and storage" section and wiped it again. Flashed CM7 7.0.1.0 for HTC Click (last one in the time of writing) and it was helpful. I could start to HTC Tattoo my self.
(other solutions are yet to be found, I will edit this post if I find something)
**I take no credit for solutions, I've found them here in XDA Forums.
Did you flashed gapps, you have to do it after you flash a custom rom if you want to get market and other google apps, btw i ja sam bosanac
I faced the problem that my tattoo didn't find my WiFi and try everything but can't solve. Till I saw your thread and I follow your "2. WiFi solution", it's work great Thanks for your sharing @ djudjix.
And the GPS was solved by....?

"In order to make sure GPS is working when upgrading to this rom from a Froyo rom, leave GPS on in the old rom before flashing. If it's disabled, you might not be able to turn it on again without reflashing Froyo again."

applies to any ROM above froyo.

[Q] Motorola Defy Call/SMS problems

Hi there, first time on this forum - so be gentle please. I've picked up a moto defy from ebay (perfect for my work). I've followed all the guides and rooted it (one click root) and installed 2ndinit to get cwm. Everything seems to be working OK, untill I try and flash ICS/JB roms. The "smart" part of smartphone is there, but it loses all ability to be used as a phone. No calls, no SMS. If I reboot I can make/receive/send one thing - then nothing untill I reboot.
Has anyone else had this or heard of this problem?
I'm fairly familiar with the basics of custom roms (I've unlocked/rooted/rom'd plenty over the last 3 years - mainly HTC but also ZTE Blade/Crescent) but this is the first time I've had to resort to posting a specific question online.
Things I've tried: baseband switcher
deleting unused apn
wiping cache/dalvik
fixing permissions
Current Phone settings: MIUI 3.9.20
Baseband EPU93_U00.60.03
Kernel 2.6.32.60-Jellybean
I'm in the UK and trying to connect to the BTmobile network (piggybacks the vodafone network).
Thanks for any help.
Chris
