[Q] TF shuts off immediately when docking - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hey everyone,
HC 3.1
My TF completely shuts off when connected to the keyboard dock. It also refuses to turn on when connected to the dock, but both the dock and tablet charge just fine separately. It's pretty hard to debug since there's other feedback on the keyboard besides the charging & caps lock lights. As far as I can tell, the dock will charge in a reasonable time (~2 hours), but since the TF won't stay powered on the unit, I'm not sure if I can discharge it quickly. Happened once using the TF+Dock for ~5 hours with light web browsing.
Haven't been able to get them to play nice since. The dock DID have a high-pitched sound when it was working on the TF, not any more now that the TF crashes every time its plugged in. The dock no longer charges the tablet either weather its plugged in or not. I'm pretty sure the keyboard firmware should be the latest, .209 or so since I had updated it the the HC3.1 release.
Possible Causes:
-Software problem in the dock
-Bad wiring?
Possible Fixes:
-safely discharge the dock [somehow...], hope it resets
-re-flash the dock [somehow...]
-re-flash the TF back to 3.0.1, see if that works...
-rooting...?
-open the dock, continuity checks, careful soldering [if it's a wiring problem...]
-return & try my luck with another one...
Factory reset to 3.1 doesn't seem to change anything at all, but any other software approaches are more than welcome. Also, haven't experienced Asus CS yet, but from what i've read i'm not having the highest expectations for this problem.
Thoughts?
-B

bdanque - did you ever find any kind of solution to this? My brother's tab started exhibiting the exact same behavior today (we bought ours at the same time) and he is not in the position to return his dock so I'm hoping there is a fix available without having to replace the dock??

Dock not charging

I have tried everything possible to get the dock to charge. It is detected and the connection icon is desplayed. Every key works perfect the touchpad works great. In the settings it shows the dock as having the latest firmware.
It just wont charge....at all. I am still within my 14 day period and will return it tomorrow if i cant find anything that will fix it.
It has stayed in this state since i purchased it, from stock, to various 3.0.1 roms and now primordal 3.1.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I have the same problem. When the tablet is in the docking station, no charge for both the tablet and the docking station.
The light stays blinking (saying that docking station is at 2%).
Tried all night charge but no avail.
What can I do??
I seem to be having the same unfortunate problem too...
However, maybe you two could move your findings/posts to this other discussion thread that we have going on. In there, you'll find my LOGCAT extract which shows exactly what's happening to your battery on both the dock and tablet.
There is a command + instructions from Highland3r in there too.
Please post your findings/logcat output over in this thread:

I got my transformer about a month ago and I just got my dock for it today. I used it right out of the box for a bit then i connectd my transformer to my pc and then went to charge the dock and nothing after I unplugged both the USB cable and brick for a few minutes I tried again and the dock began to charge

Keyboard Dock Issues

I purchased my transformer this evening, along with the keyboard dock. I took both out of the box and plugged in the transformer to the dock and proceeded along with my business. I plugged it in to charge a bit later, and for some reason when the dock is plugged in now after about 1 minute it stops working(both keyboard and touch pad) and the battery icon on the transformer turns into a ?
Should I return the keyboard dock? Does the battery just need to charge up? I am not quite sure but I was quite dissapointed.
Make sure both are charged and then check for updates under about tablet. The old docking firmware used to stop the dock from responding all the time. The latest dock version should be 0209. If you still can't get it to behave then maybe a duff unit and you need to take it back.

my dock can't charge

since i got my TF, i rooted it and then use customer firmware
and i updated my dock firmware to 209
and update to prime 1.4
finally, i found my dock always flash orange light and doesn't get hot or charge
I had a similar problem. Stock 3.1 on the tablet, 209 on the dock. Just a few days after receiving the dock it would no longer take a charge. Flashing orange led no matter how long I left it plugged in. The AC adapter which normally gets pretty hot while charging was only barely warm while charging the dock. Luckily I bought it at Amazon so it was a simple return and they sent a new one.
I think my dock battery might be dead too. I've had the transformer n dock since the very beginning and everything was working fine until last night. I charged the dock alone because it was low on battery, unplugged it 4-5hrs later after it shows green light.
Put the transformer into the dock only to have the orange light flash, widget shows the two as not being docked and the transformer is not receiving a charge from the dock yet the dock is still usable. The dock is fully functional.
When I plug in the charger, the dock light quickly turns green and the battery widget says the dock battery is 0% and charging.
Any ideas? RMA? Factory reset?
ps. tried my gf's transformer and dock. My transformer charges and shows as being docked on her dock but when I have her transformer, dock on my dock, same response as if I had my own transformer on it.
This is first time I realized that dock also might be upgraded?! Interesting. What benefits except it is not charging anymore ?

Dock cannot hold charge

Hi - had the transformer since the May launch - pretty happy with things. However in the last couple of days, I have noticed something seems to be wrong with the keyboard dock. It no longer seems to hold any charge. Used to be could charge from empty (blinking orange) to full (green) in a few hours or so. Now I charge overnight and it is still orange. Irrespective of anything, when I have the dock on the move - if I plug in the tablet - the tablet still drains (no lightning bolt to indicate it is charging from the dock as previously the case).
Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there a software fix or do I have to return the dock?
What happens with the tablet connected to the AC adapter alone? Does it charge?
I think the dock uses the 15V circuit on the charger and the tablet uses the 5V circuit.
Have you left the AC adapter plugged into a socket for a long time? Unplug it for about half an hour, then plug it back and test.
I recently had this issue too. The dock worked fine and held a charge. Then one day it was at 0% charge, and I plugged it in but it kept blinking orange, even when I charged it over night.
This is a known, but rare, issue with the docks. If you let the keyboard dock drain to 0% and keep it like that for a few days, for some reason it "locks" into always staying at 0%. The battery can never charge again.
The way to confirm this is to download the Dual Battery Widget from the marketplace. It is supposed to show one battery for the Tablet, and a second battery for the Dock. If you have the dock plugged in, and the tablet connected to the dock, and the Dock Battery Widget part says "N/A", then you have the problem I had.
I exchanged my dock at the store. My bad dock was a B50 revision. My new dock is a B60 revision and does not have the Battery Drain issue that people have been discussing (it passes the Test the ASUS representative posted).
I am hoping that this new dock will not have the "falls to 0% and can never recharge" issue my first dock had.
Long story short, I would recommend that you exchange or RMA your dock. The battery in it is bad.

[Q] Problem charging Thinkpad Tablet

I have a weird probably Software Problem charging my Thinkpad tablet. It is running the latest OTA Firmware 0089_WE, and I struggle with the following behaviour lately (it once charged completely without any issues). I only have the micro-usb charger, to juice the tablet. As long as the Display is switched on, it shows the charging symbol, and the red charging light is on - but if I leave the tablet alone, the display will switch off, and also the charging light - the tablet is no longer charged. Anyone have a clue, what I might have done wrong?
I have also had charging problems since the ota2 update.
Same problem - tablet not charging when in sleep mode
Thought that I had done something wrong but since others are experiencing it, then suppose it's not just me.
What I have done so far:
1. Used the standard charger
2. Used a Samsung charger
3. Used a blackberry playbook charger
When I had first connected the device, selected the charge only option, as it was connected to the standard charger, didn't think to have the sync option enabled. Maybe that would make a difference but doubt it.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Has anyone had any luck with finding a solution? Mine seems to be better but not like it was with honeycomb.
Yup

Call Lenovo Support. This is a design flaw in the MicroUSB Charging Port. They will repair.

Is this a hardware repair, or a firmware/software repair?
I ask because I only just started experiencing this problem after installing CM-10 this week.
I also found some issues when charging the Thinkpad Tablet.
In my case the workaround was to get a Thinkpad Tablet dock, which uses the dock port to charge it. It used to charge it very fast and reliable compared to Micro USB. Sadly my TPT is now bricked and I can not test it anymore.
Some other guys (gotta check the thread) even created a connector cable from the dock port to the Thinkpad Adapter. It was very cool, but it is not being sold, only to build it yourself.
Regards
Martin
I just got my TPT in the mail, and it's running Honeycomb (according to the eBay description.) I've got it hooked up to charge right now, but I don't see a red charging LED like you guys mentioned. Where is that LED?
