[Q] Webtop tethering - Atrix 4G General

Ok. So I'm using custom APNs to tether. When I try to tether to webtop it doesn't even show my phone as an option. Do I need to turn tethering on before or after connection HDMI and selecting webtop? I am on gingerblur 3.5 if that makes a difference.

[Q] Issue with tethering after update to 2.2

Updated my stock 2.1 DX today with new 2.2, rooted, loaded titanium backup, cleaned up some bloat and loaded wireless tether. All is good, the phone works great! Went to use wifi tether and hooks up great to laptop with full signal, but here the kicker, tether doesnt connect to 3g, so no internet. Any idea's?
Are you using the 3G mobile hotspot or a Tethering App from the market or something
I'm running Wireless Tether for Root Users 2.0.5-pre9.
I'm having the same problem. running the same version of wireless tether. I didn't remove any bloatware or anything, I just have the apps hidden using launcher pro, so basically stock. Worked fine before update.

I didn't know they had a DX working version, it doesn't show in their website. Is it ad-hoc or real wifi hotspot?
2.2 messes withe the settings. Try Barnacle. There is a extra setting it has for 2.2.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
do you have access control enabled?
Yep I changed the access setting and no go. Then I removed it and loaded barnacle and had the same issue.
Barnacle worked for me on 2.1 but not on 2.2. What is this "setting for 2.2" that makes barnacle work?
Wireless Tether for Root (by Muller) works for me on 2.2. But the connection is very much hit and miss. I end up using Easy Tether (usb) 90% of the time. I wish I could find a way to keep the connection more stable. Bc wireless is just easier.
I seem to remember having to do something with my connection settings on my computer a long time ago to enable ad-hoc connections when I first started tethering on WinMo with the HTC tether. Sorry I can't remember now.
Having the same issue here with Barnacle after 2.2 update. =(
I just rooted my DX 2.2 and I'm using Wireless tether version 2.0.2 I downloaded this morning from the market and I'm using my iPad and laptop off of it right now. But barnacle isn't working for me tho.
I notice a lot of people are having issues. I'm not (on leaked 2.3.15) but I am on an older version... 2.0.2
I should be more clear, I'm on the ota release of 2.2 with the 2.0.2 version of wireless tether.
DL OTA, rooted with Droid 2, installed Koush Clockwork and Recovery, then installed Free Wifi Tether. Ran Speedtest at 1.1 M download. I'd say NPs here. Just my 2 cents
Used Barnacle with 2.1... up'd to the leaked 2.2 and Barnacle stopped working. Wireless Tether (from the market) works fine, but not if I'm using Access Controls (which seems to be the general state of that app right now).
I know I'm awfully late to the game, but if I root and tether like you guys are, Verizon can't tell? I won't get the extra charge for tether service? Sorry for the noob question.

Wireless tether on cm7

Has this been fixed yet or how would go about making it work?

Doesn't work and messes up the built in tether. As far as I know if you've used the wireless tether, the only way to get the built in tether to work is to reflash.
Built in tether is located here:
Menu>Settings>Wireless & Networks>Tethering and Hotspot.
Wireless Tether doesn't work...have to use the native tethering app, or use barnacle tethering.
Native tethering works.

I tried that says error

Can someone tell me what's the benefit of wireless tether over the native tethering?
I got the native tether to work thanx guys

^^What got it working again?
As far as WT being better, it has more options like being able to see who's connected and keep track of how much data you're using. But it doesn't work so it's not better
Wireless Tether will let you do so with 4G as well, native hotspot won't do 4G with the hack.
Wait, native tether doesn't do 4G? So I've been turning on 4G and tethering for nothing?
Is there a trick to getting the tether to work on 4g? I can connect but no data transfers to my laptop? 3g works just fine.
It works really well for me
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...ions-of-wifi-tether-app-for-evo-21-wont-work/
I didn't want to start another thread, so I'll post here.
Has this been remedied? The native tether hasn't worked for me either. I've wiped data/dalvik/cache and still nothing.
Suggestions?
No problem with mine. Maybe its just the 4g service?

...4g native wireless tether works for me on the last released nightly, however, is useless for me to use as it is constantly disconnecting ( I tether to xbox)...I have no problems with sense roms as I just got done with gears 3 for 4 hrs straight. If I switch back to cm7, it'll disconnect within 5 minutes...hope it gets fixed soon cus I reeaaalllyyy miss my cm...
4g tether works fine with a sense ROM, but I really like CM7. It's worked for the first day, then it stopped. Would get failed error codes. Wipe, uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reflash CM7 reboot hasn't done anything to fix the problem.
I've tried wireless tether 2.0.5 --> 3.1
None have worked. They would start, but get hung up at (download) speed: .4kbs and .1kbs (upload)
Does your native tether turn on after 'wireless tether'? Mine does, so on the top notification bar it shows both running. But it doesn't connect.
I'd like to get back to using CM7 (my favorite so far) but I can't since using the tether is how I get internet access at home.
Have you tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046764
works for me ever since i did it.
Tether, 3G and 4G has always worked for me.

USB Tether Android Phone To TF??

Right now if I want to get my TF to use the cell network I need to setup a Wifi hotspot on my phone, connect my TF to the network then plug my phone into the TF to charge.
Wouldn't it make more sense to just USB tether?
Yep, would like to do this too with a DesireHD, USB tether is preferred while I am travelling.
In order for that to happen your tablet must have the correct drivers for your phone to do USB tether.
I don't think those drivers exist for Android tablets. I can be wrong though.
pdanet has a beta version that allows wifi tabs to be tethered to android phones over USB.

Depends what phone you have. I have a rooted htc desire, and i just use the hotspot widget. Once you set it up, it's just one touch of the widget for me to tether to my tablet. I definitely prefer this way than using the usb. Also I can still have internet without needing the transformer dock.
Not sure if the phone has to be rooted or if it's part of the gingerbread update.
Ever since I got my tablet I have just been using the wireless hotspot on my HTC (T Mobile G2) with the stock hotspot. Works like a CHARM! I also use the TF to send/receive text messages and just leave my phone plugged in across the room at work. So it is nice.

I have a HTC Inspire rooted/desire hd....and if you are running any type of custom ROM other than stock you have the ability to use the tethering without the plan due to a special patch.

I use the hotspot tethering on my non branded Desire, the tethering options are often removed if you use the branded oses.

[Q] Tethering?

How can I set up wired/wireless tethering from HTC evo?
Are you rooted? If not, you can pay sprint to tether wirelessly, or get PDAnet from the Market to tether via usb.
All the custom ROMs I've tried cracked their built-in tethering abilities... For stock ROMs try using Wireless Tether for Root Users.

tether apps that work with kindle

i have no internetz at my house, so im forced to tether. i have am epic 4g and the hacked sprint hotspot works ok, but wifi tether for root users wont show up on my kindle.
does anyone know of any other apps so i can tether my kindle to my phone??
im rooted with market, no recovery or rom yet, but ill flash a rom if it will help this.
i like the stock rom bc of the lockscreens that change every time... i like that.
You need an app called zt-180 ad-hoc switcher. Download it on your fire and follow the on screen instructions

ok im on stock romk plus root, it says im not rooted. the app says that i mean.......do i havr to flash a rom for this to work?
I installed wireless_tether_2_0_7.apk on my Rezound and my Kindle Fire works fine, I didn't have do anything special.
WiFi Tether version 3.1-pre110. It works flawlessly when tethering with my Galaxy Nexus, I don't have to adjust any settings.
i have wifi ver 2.0.7 as well, is there something on my epic i need to do? this is killing me, bc i want to put cm7 on my phone but 4g doesnt work with sprints hotspot but does with wifi for root users. and i have plenty of 4g here so i wanna use it
You shouldn't have to flash a Rom for it to work. You have to leave it named androidtether. Try updating your su binaries

I'm using wireless tether for root users on my 3d to get Internet and it works fine. I did have to change some under the hood stuff to get 4g to work so that might be why my Fire works with it.

Wifi tether will work, you just have to get the settings right. Open the app, hit Menu, then hit the checkboxes next to "Enable MSS clamping" and "Enable Routing-fix". After that you should be good to go.
I have wireless tether for root users ver 2.0.7
I don't see any settings like that in my app... what app are you talking about?
Maybe someone post a fresh wifi tether for root users 2.0.7
Or any app that works.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
maybe my experience is helping:
is the network in infrastructure mode (normal hotspot) -> don't need any software
is it a adhoc network -> use zt-180 adhoc switcher (make correct settings - ssid - wep key if needed)
Wifi hotspot and usb tether
By SVTP
Works fine.
What I use is a Rom on my phone, android has wifi tether built in, the carriers just disable. Flash a Rom and use androids native tether, free and simple

Barnacle wireless tether works well for me. Use it on my Droid x2. Verizon hasn't blocked it on the market yet.

Cant post links yet because I havent reached the magical 8 post number yet but just go to google and type wireless tether, the first site that comes up in search takes you to the place to download the different wifi apps.
