titanium backup from another phone - Droid X General

I just bought this DROID x and left the htc incredible I had. I had the incredible rooted and used titanium backup. I copied the titanium file to my computer and fat32 ed my sd card. Im now using that card in my X. If I root could I load that file onto the sdcard and get my apps back without having issues? Or should I turn on my old phone and just redownload everything. Also im on the offical gingerbread release.

I did this coming from the fascinate. Bad idea, for some reason it only restored my apps. Not the data to them. Needless to say, I'm back to lvl 1 in drag raving where I was at lvl 8

App & Data Transfer

Looking for best way to transfer paid apps/data from Hero to Evo. Is it as simple as just swapping the sdcard? I suspect there is phone specific install data embedded on the card.
I used Astro's app backup utility when I installed 2.1 and it worked great. Would that be a way, if I did just swap out cards? Install Astro from the Market and pull in the Hero backed up apps onto the Evo. Give my wife the Evo sdcard for her to start fresh with as she will have the Hero.
It sure would be lovely to get a reply to @soonerbuck's q...
Why don't you use
APPS2SD?

Can you use Titanium Backup to Move Applications to new phone?

I'm going from a Samsung Vibrant to a G2X. I'm just going to try the G2X for a few weeks and see if I like it. I've been using Titanium on my Samsung for some time now. Do I just copy the Titanium backup folder from my old phone's internal SD and copy to the new phone's SD? Do I move any other files?
Thanks.
That should work no problem. Just don't try to restore system apps and files to the new phone. User apps and data only. And yes all you need is the folder labeled "titanium backup".
Thanks I'll give it a try
yes just copy the titanium backup file to your new phone and download app on new phone
As long as its rooted.

I just tried this while moving from a rooted Droid 1 to rooted Droid 2, I keep getting that the restore fails. Tried various times... is there something I'm missing?
I've never worked with the Droid but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Did you move the file to the removable sd card and then move it from phone to phone or just copy it from one phone to the next with a computer?
Did a full backup with Titanium and moved sd card to the new phone. Tried to restore a few different apps and I keep getting a message that it failed.
hi .
i use titanium backup from my last galaxy tab and now i copy those back up files to my new GS2 but in titanium backup restore part show 0 files to restore !! what should i do ?
Ive also been thinking about trying out the g2x

[Q] After SBF.. Not able to install any form of APK file..

So all my issues started when I bought a OG Droid from my buddy for $60 and I then decided that I would just pop my Memory card out of my X (was on Liberty 2.0) and into the OG and root the OG ( then Flashed CM7) and then using Titanium backup, I would just restore the Apps and Data from my X onto my OG.. it worked ok but then I wanted to just make a copy of the entire SD card so I could have all my apps and data on both phones so I didnt have to play musical SD cards when I switched phones..
Anyways I then copied the SD card and then formatted the original card from the OG droid and copied my copy of the card onto it.. and it seamed to work ok.. then My X started acting up (bootlooping, and other wacky stuff) I first tried to restor to previous backups and they didnt help so I just said screw it and SBf'd with the .340 version and It appeared to be all better once back to stock..
How ever I then went into my SD card and tried to first install Astro to manage my files ( I have Z4root, Droid X Bootstrap, Titanium Back, and few other important APKs in a folder on my SD card) I tried to install all of those APKs and none would install using the build in "Files" app.. Hell even my Apps that my google account was linked to wont install ( google Earth, youtube, gmail)
I have done multiple data cache clears as well as hard resets.. I cant get any APKs to install so I cant install or run Z4 root, or run a terminal emulator and I cant even download and get any app of the market to install (Yes I have enabled Unknown sources and USB debugging, and yes I have looked everywhere for an answer) So I am stuck. I love the OG droid on CM7, but I miss my big screen and 1.2Ghz overclocked and undervolted processor.
I am at a loss about what to do, I was hoping you guys would have some idea of what I should do..
Wow. I think there might be a hardware issue here. I would recommend talking to Verizon about getting a replacement

Hmm.. So once I am SBF'd back to .340, they wont be able to tell about my rooting activities? I got the phone over 6 months ago and It was from the Verizon in Costco, So I am not sure what the return policy is..
Format the SD card from within the Droid X (Settings > SD card & Phone Storage > unmount > format > mount) after backing up your data from it but DON'T copy anything back over. Do a fresh SBF. Make sure you clear data and cache 5 times each before SBF'ing again.
As long as it is within one year, you are elidgable for a warranty replacement. And you are correct, they will not be able to tell that you are rooted. Most employess would not know how to check for that anyway

I tried to format the SD card in the X, but it was always freezing and force closing.. so I decided that something was wrong.. but I will try again and clear the Cache 5 times?!? Seams excessive and repetitive.. but I will try..

Ok well I will see if I cant fix it with the help of you guys and then I may be taking it back to see if I can get a replacement.. And I figured that most employees wouldn't know how.. especially after I SBF'd back to stock.. I just wasnt sure though..
How the phone deletes the data and cache is kind of weird, it rarely actually gets rid of it all the first time. Many people recommend 3 times, I recommend 5 to play it safe as one time 3 did not cut it for me and I had some quirks, re-did it doing it 5 times, quirks were gone.
Try a different SD card if you can, also.
Soo I cleared the cache and then pulled my memory card and was able to install apps from the market, but still no installing from the SD card.. And I still couldnt unmount the SD card and format the card...
You SURE it's not a bad SD card?

I got it to work.. I pulled the SD card, Put it in the OG Droid and formatted it, then with no SD card in the X, I cleared the Cache, then put the SD card back in the X and was able to Format it again, then Cleared the Cache again a few times. (Excessive? Probably)
Then everything seamed to work fine.. I used SwiFTP to drop the few APKs that I needed to root the phone and then flash Liberty 2.01, then dropped a previous Titanium Backup folder of all my apps back onto the SD card and did a batch restore and everything is all good!
Regina Launcher even restored my data so my home screens were set up already
Thanks for your help. With Netflix now, I really wanted my X for the bigger screen.. I really cant wait for my Asus Transformer to get here.. I have a feeling that my usage of my laptop and both of my Droids will drop drastically.. However the Droids will be my access to the internet..

Best way to transfer apps+data to another phone?

I am curious about what is the best way to back up apps from my current Evo and restore them on another phone? I'm asking because I shattered my Evo's screen last night after a year of taking such good care of it...and through Asurion I will be receiving an Evo 3D. Sad to leave this dev community, but I will gladly take a dual core phone over my OG.
I use TB Pro to back up and restore between roms. I normally avoid Google's backup/restore app process because it takes too long over the internet, but does that service also backup the data for the apps as well? Like saving all my info in games and such. Thanks for any input
titanium backup, just be careful with what you restore on the new device (system settings for example are a no-no)
How am I going to restore apps that are on another phone with TB?

Go on the sd card of your current phone, copy it, [or use the same sd card] start up new phone, install titanium backup, then simply restore all apps+data, NOT system settings.

This. Also TB allows you to upload your backup to a dropbox account as well, no need to move the SD card but you trade speed for convenience (dropbox process takes longer since it has to upload when the backup is created then download when you restore to the new device)
And BTW OP yes TB will also backup your game data
TB is a sure way

[Q] Using Titanium Backup to switch phone

I am moving from an HTC Rezound to the g2 and have all of my apps/data backed up on the rezound sd card. I want to restore the apps data part on my new G2 so I dont lose all the data related to each app. How would I go about doing this since the G2 does not have an sd card slot?
Thanks for any help.

I do this all the time, very easy. First download the titanium app on the G2. Open the app on the G2 and go through the initial setup/screens. Once that is done, plug in your HTC Rezound or sd card into your computer and locate the Titanium folder. It contains all of your apps/data. Save that folder to your computer. Then plug your G2 into the computer and copy and replace the titanium folder on the G2. Remember that there are going to be alot of apps that you wont be using from your old HTC so i recommend running titanium after transfer and deleting all the htc apps that are in titanium and backing up all the apps that are on the G2.
Or you can get MyBackUp Pro and do a Migrate backup.
Install the app on both phones. Make sure both are on the same wifi network & in the same room
On the old phone, hit the migrate option & select the apps & data you want transferred to your new phone.
On the new phone open the same app, go to Migrate hit that and wait for the data to flow from your old phone to the new one in a special zip file.
The new phone will take that zip & unpack the apps & data by itself!
Incredible & easy
