Hi guys, I'm new with XPERIA X8 and I was wondering is it possible to set a wallpaper image with 320x480 resolution?
Just edit the picture's size with a picture editor such as GIMP which is free and Photoshop.
Yes, but again when I go to Change wallpaper I get option to crop picture in portrait mode. Is it possible to have static wallpaper 320x480 and just to slide widgets?

Got it. If you are using launcherpro, go to preferences, appearence settings and tick "disable wallpaper scrolling". It should be the same for other launchers too.

I've been wondering about the size of wallpaper for topaz. When we download a wallpaper with 480x800 px in size then we view it on topaz, the wallpaper seems very sharp...but once we set it into wallpaper turn into kinda blur..
Maybe because it compressed to fit the space between the top and down bar?
Anybody know about it?

Its a common issue, newer manila builds allow you to set your landscape wallpaper separate from portrait.
hey guys, im now using htc legend. i have a problem with their wallpaper function. when i try to set the wallpaper by using my own picture, it came out a green box for us to crop and select which part to display the image for wallpaper. can i ask what is the optimal / best resolution? the green box cant seem to stretch to the whole image, most of the time half of the picture only. i m looking forward to display the whole picture as my wallpaper.
sry for my bad english =[ any1 help plx
try getting pics with a resolution of 320*480.
market: wallpaper set & save
640*480 is the best resolution for your wallpapers, .png files will give the best result when using wallpaper set & save

Wallpaper set&save doesn't work, or better...it works but not in the correct way. If you read the comments on the market you'll see. The guy that made it said (lot of time ago) that he is working to make it works with Android 2.1 & 2.2.
I've lost my faith in that, so I just resize by myself the wallpaper I want to 640x480.
it just works great for me on my stock legend with android 2.1
dunno what your talking about :S
When I want to select a picture I got from my PC to my X8 in the correct resolution I still have to crop the picture to make it look pixelated and crap. Why does the X8 force me to do this?
hey its easy..the thing with picture is that the over all resolution of the wallpaper for x8 is greater than the resolution of the screen. like you may have more then one window like in case of three. the resolution would be like 320*3=940 into 480 res picture. if you want single slide then i think there is other wallpaper application which doesnot use the default wallpaper chooser program and got it own. right now i forget the name. but there is app for it.
how to set full screen wallpaper on Galaxy Tab 10.1 ?
i have 1280*800 wallpapers and try... I don't want to crop my wallpaper
i'm already try to search but no answer. Thx.
Go to the Market and download Wallpaper Wizardrii
It will allow you to set an image without having to crop it like the Gallery does.
It will also allow you to set the image as scrollable or static.

i tried wizardii and selecto no scrool but its auto crop my wallpaper (1280*800) i wanna direct set full wallpaper.
try multi picture live wallpaper it handles some wallpapers quite well without having to manually resize/crop them.
i dont live wallpaper. only static wallpaper.
Make your picture 1920x1200 or something like this and not 1280x800 because Android would need bigger picture because of scrolling.

multi picture live wallpaper app handles static pictures also. i am using it to put separate 1280*800 picture for each screen
What they don't tell you
I have looked at this for a little while and still can't seem to get it to work as I would like it to.
I found my wallpapers were cropped while rotating screens.
With the launcher and the wizardii wallpaper I set the landscape wallpaper while the device is in portrait mode and use set Stretch Landscape.
Using a static wallpaper and the scroll off.
It still appears to crop a little but you will have a full screen image in Landscape and portrait modes (like the 5 native wallpapers when you use the default wallpaper settings).
Simple Image Wallpaper Free is all you need. It's in the Google Play store and its awesome. Forget Wallpaper Wizardrii, it's garbage.

Brought this thread back from the dead just to thank you for this recommendation! Downgraded my Note Pro 12.2 to KitKat so I could root, and the cropping wallpaper problem reared its ugly head. Tried all kinds of screwy apps and supposed solutions before finding your recommendation. It's been perfect for a week now, including reboots. Thanks again!
So I'm trying to find out how I can make a wallpaper fit (non-scrollable) portrait style. I'm not sure how to properly word what I'm looking for but I hope these screen captures can help get my point across.
The "want" picture is what I would my wallpaper to be. It fits the screen perfectly without having to crop anything. This works on other android devices but not on stock Android.
The "dont want" picture is what happens when I try to make that picture my wallpaper. It has me crop the pic with the height that I DO NOT want.
Is there a way I can have a wallpaper that will work the way I want it. I don't mind if it doesn't scroll. In fact I prefer it doesn't. Thanks for any help!
install Wallpaper Wizardrii
Yeah, wallpaper wizardrii will do it
