Hi All,
I have been waiting for the asus transformer but i am now rapidly loosing patience with having to wait for it with no confirmation as to when i will receive it so i am thinking about going down the acer iconia path. i just have a few questions for the owners of the iconia, how is the battery life, ie with heavy use and when on standby? the majority of the time the tablet will be on standby with wifi off does this still drain the battery greatly? as in how many % does the battery use when on standby?
also anyone that has used the transformer how does the iconia compare?
thanks for you help
I think the battery is great. It's not as long lasting as the Transformer, but hey.. who is gonna use this tablet for 10 hours+ straight on? I know I don't.
Some people are having issues with the battery draining quite fast while on standby. I dont. My Iconia drains around 10% overnight. Wich is acceptable. Tho most of the time it's getting juice overnight.
In my opinion the battery is fine. Engadget tested it with a 720p video (correct me if wrong) and the battery lasted 6 hours and 30 minutes ±. So for browsing, this tab will last atleast 8 hours. Wich is plenty for me.
Only have the tablet one day, but so far it seems great. Disabled all connections before going to sleep and put it in standby, only lost 5% battery for me while I was sleeping for 7 hours.
Was browsing in the train for 30 minutes (wifi tethered to HTC Desire) and used it to take some notes and show of to some co workers, only lost 10% since this morning.
So very happy with it so far!

i get 9-10h of browsing
I unplug mine at 8am and I use it light/moderately throughout the day and it usually is about out of juice when I get home around 6pm.
I do everything watching movies (streaming) music (streaming) messing around with apps and settings. getting at least 6 to 8 hours of continuous use.
Yesterday I unplugged it at 6:30 am browsed some sites. Went to work put it to sleep from 7:3am until 7pm. Battery was at 78% played with it all night. Battery was at 45%. Didn't charge at night. This morning 38%. Sleep at 38% and will check when I get home.
Set wifi to turn off when screen is off and it will last a long time on standby. Mine hardly drains at all if any. I didn't even lose 1% overnight.
Hi all
Here in UK We still waiting for TAB 10.1
very confused between ipad2 or this one
after a lot of reading I've made my decision to buy this one, but the only thing I really want to know is the battery life for this one as it is very important for me
( doing a lot of travelling long distances on the plane)
Engadget said that its battery lasted above 8 Hours of video loop while others said it lasted just above 5 hours.
I know that the Tab cannot beat the Ipad2 when it comes to Battery, but I am still buying the tab10.1 if its battery lasts 1 or 2 hours less than the apple product.
Could you please -who own this item- let me know how the battery life is?
Many Thanks
i just received mine the other day. i let it charge overnight.
i then used it for just about 9.5 to 10 hours and plugged it in when the
battery meter was at 15%.
the battery life is excellent !
it really depends what you are doing on it. I use it throughout the day but primarily while at work to keep my sanity (I work overnights). I watch loads of HD youtube videos and the browser since my office thought it was cool to put website blocks and disable flash (for youtube blocking) so to see videos on sites or actually see full sites the tablet is crucial. I tether the wifi from my HTC Thunderbolt for access. I do also play some games. I can get through my 8 hour day with about 50%
Edit
based on pandamaja's response below, I didnt actually touch the screen brightness so that means it is working harder to auto adjust itself according to the brightness it is in
Battery life so far has been excellent. I don't travel as much as I used to, but I can see this thing lasting for a good while. Like others have mentioned, it depends on usage.
The display is going to be the single largest battery drain. I'm not sure about the 'others' tests, but the tests done by engadget and apple are done with the display brightness set at 50% I believe.
I've been very impressed with the battery life so far. My Evo basically lives next to a charger. Before I went to bed last night I considered not even charging the tab.
So far so good for me. I haven't timed it but I have been using the tab on and off for a couple for days before needing to charge it.
I do keep the brightness level pretty low.
I have had my tablet on since I bought the device. I charged it for an hour after playing with it, and have watched 3 hours of TV shows, and when I have not been using it, it has been idling (for 4-5 days). The battery was at 37% when I finally plugged it in last night. This tablet's battery life is the best battery life of any device I've ever owned.
pretty much been having the same experience as everyone here. i've gone through 2 days without charging (currently at 47%), and this is with browsing the internet, watching videos, and playing games. depends on the display brightness and usage. i have mine set at about 50%, as i find that plenty sufficient.. this panel gets bright. the tab also holds charge real well when in standby.
Thanks for that, very helpful
any one has set it on video loop with reasonable brightness (50% i guess good)?
How long can u get?
the reason I am asking because I am flying quite regularly to mexico ( 10 hours) and mostly watching movies
any help very much appreciated
Many Thanks
how did samsung even manage to squeeze that amount of juice in?

Hey OP
I believe that most reviews for the tab says it can play ~10 hours of video using 65-70% brightness. I've read at least 5 reviews having similarly result. Only one review got 5 hours of video. I would doubt that review.
FYI, the ipad2 gets 10.5 hours under 70% brightness playing video.
I got my tab yesterday. I played video for about 2-3 hours, using 70% brightness, and baterry went down ~30%. I would say a 10 hour video playback seems to be correct.
I am a heavy user I play with my phone all day I will say out of the 15 hours probably 11 hours of screen being used if not more. Watched two movies listened to tune on radio and had a couple of calls. Plus constantly surfing
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Note5 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I usually get around 3.5-4 hours of screen on time before the phone needs a power-up.
So today is one of my heavy usage days. This is how it goes pretty much. Wake up around 6 am get, get on my phone, check notifications, hop on a few social games, get on social media, watch videos from social media, check my favorite website, get on some games, check some more websites, battery gets a little low so I charge up, and while it's charging I get my day started.
That's heavy usage for me and thats what I did all day today so far. Here's some screenshots just prior to me writing this post, tell me what you think.
Now some might think it's bad, but I've been on my phone pretty much non stop.
i'm getting 30-40 min more than the S6 edge ussually 4 hours screen on time, auto brightness, mobile data, wifi, 3 gmail sync, Facebook and messenger...I probably wouldn't get this phone if it wasn't for the quick charge ability.
I am very happy with battery life. I don't game and I don't watch tons of YouTube and I'm connected to a WiFi network most of the day. But this is the best in terms of battery life of any phone i have ever had, including the one plus one. Typically get 8 to 10 hours screen on time but I've gotten as high as 12 before. Auto brightness, location disabled most of the time. Stock, 200+ apps disabled with package disabler pro.

Averaging 5-7 hours on a busy day, everything is turned on except for a few bloat apps which are disabled.
I dont understand how you use you phone for 12 hours in a day..Do you have a job? I will get up at 7am and talk maybe for an hour on my phone and have 3 hrs max screen on time before I end my day at 10 pm with 45% battery left..more or less.
I'm seeing about 7 hours SOT. Auto brightness, nothing disabled, syncs on.

Its impossible for 12h SOT.. can you share some screenshoot for sot 12h without charging from 100% until 1%.. i dont belive if no screen shoot..
My device is on battery for 4 hours 37 minutes 51 seconds since last charge.
SOT is 58 minutes 36 seconds.
My battery percentage is 74%.
Is this normal or bad ??
I purchased my phone for yesterday and charged it till full. I never charge for continuous 8 hours.
Is this normal or bad ? Shall i charge it for 8 hours ?
Typical days my battery only lasts about 12-13hours before its sub 10%. Some days it's better but typical office days are rather poor battery life from past android and iOS devices with similar use. Attached are my thumbnails. As you can see I am only getting 2 hours of screen on time. It def appears I have an issue with my Moto 360 using excessive battery and I am not sure why as most things are disabled on the watch and the watch battery is usually north of 75% when I goto bed.
Ever since I reset my phone back to factory resettings (rooting caused my phone to slow down), i've been experiencing some great battery life and smoothness(obviously)
6 hours SOT with 7% left. 1 day and 6+ hours of regular usage, nothing too heavy.
YRAJ23- Thats perfectly normal. It should come out to around 4 hours of SoT. You can charge the phone for 8 or more hours because it knows when to stop charging. You cannot overcharge any modern smartphone.
U should get at least 5hrs sot unless playing games and watching YouTube! Disable Samsung and Google bloats like Google+ and use Greenify app from Oasis Feng on play store to hibernate most of your downloaded apps which cause battery drain. Put your brightness in the 40-60% and if possible ideally in the 25% range indoors!
Ive been debating picking up a note 5 now that is avail in Canada in 64gb and silver but reading through this has me reconsidering.
I get better battery life from both my current devices and without being able to swap batteries 4 to 5hrs SOT is not ideal given my lifestyle/ work schedule

Fairly normal 2.5-3.5 hours on weekdays, bc school WiFi drains battery like ****. On weekends typically average 3.5 on 3G/LTE because reception where I live isn't exactly top notch. At home however, 5-6 hours is pretty much the norm, bc my home WiFi rocks.
I normally get 15-16 hours on battery with 4-5 hours of screen on time. i did a video playing a game and timing it. if you want to check it out here from the video you'll see depending on your settings i could get between 4-6 hours of onscreen time with goat sim running.

Exact same here, yet I see these people with 6, 7 even 8 hours of screen time on one charge. How? Are they sitting there with WiFi and the cell radio turned off, just watching clips and doing offline stuff? I just don't understand how they can manage to pull that many hours out of the battery. I struggle to break past 4 hours. But 8? Freaking double? I'm not buying it.
hi all guys,
i bought the lenovo yoga tablet 2 10 inch last week, i had test the battery and sound, cause i prefer watch flim online, youtube or sport stream so when i watch an hours of youtube 1080p 60fps with 50% brightness and max volume, it comsumes 20%, it better or worse than yours
I just looked at mine and I had 5:30 of screen on time and 37% battery left if that helps you.... I get between 6-8 hours screen time on a charge over about 3 days use. I have the 1050F also.
From my LG-G4, Rooted running Stock 5.1
I get between 10 to 12 hours of screen time. I usually have the brightness set to 20% or less.
