[Q] Is my X8 NAND unlocked? - XPERIA X8 General

I searched many threads but I don't know how to identify if my X8 is NAND unlocked.
I'm rooted via SuperOneClick, busybox and xrec installed. There's an app I want to install but it requires that the device is NAND unlocked but I don't know if my X8 is NAND unlocked.
Anyone help me?

Anyone? Guys?
I really need to know

What app is that? X8 doesn't have locks on system, data and cache partitions.

In short if you can mount system r/w you have NAND unlocked x8.

This is the app I want to install:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.anttek.am&feature=search_result&hl=en
It says:
REQUIREMENTS: ROOT and NAND unlocked devices.
I want to temporarily freeze Google Maps as it is keeping my phone awake and as a result, by battery is draining quickly.

It works.

Gingerbread recovery issues

Is anyone else not able to get into recovery? I can't access stock or clockworkmod recovery.
When I try to do a factory reset through the phone phone boots into bootloader with an error message.
As always thanks for looking.

DXrecovery doesn't work with gingerbread, you gotta use the D2recovery instead

How do I get the D2 recovery for my DX. Sorry for the noob type?
So no stock recovery either?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App
you need to get an sbf file of 2.2.1 and then use rsd lite to flash it to your phone... then you can use clockwork to get back.
I understand that. I'm trying to wipe data to clear up the constant sync error except I have no way of wiping data. Make sense?

Recovery Access in GB
Besides using a reboot into rocovery app, you can also shut down the phone, then pull the battery, put the battery back in and the normal Vol Down + Power will get you into Clockwork Recovery. Seems like GB is in some kind of stand by mode even when you power it down.

Did you just flash the ROM?
Did to full wipe and or factory reset?
Are you coming from another custom ROM?
Did you restore any system apps or data using titanium backup or my backup root etc? Edit: if so was the backup made from a different ROM?
Have you a recent cwm recovery nan-backup? Could boot into recovery and try "fix permission", sometimes helps with force closes, and sometimes will give you more issues than you had,....according to some.
Edit: Could also try clearing the app data/cache etc. You may lose your mail account setup though.

If you do a full wipe & flash the Rom again, I don't think you will have a problem.
What apps did you remove, how (root explorer, titanium, removed from zip prior to flashing ROM) etc?

[Help] What to do after rooting?

Hi all, sorry im an IT noob,
But after using alpharevx to s-off and nej's method, i've successfully rooted my phone..
Now what do i do nxt?
How to flash a rom?
IF possible someone give me a step by step guide pls thanks
You need to install clockword mod recovery first.
Then create a gold card.
You can then copy new ROM files to your SD card and then boot into recovery to install them.
This is very primitive, but let me know if u encounter any problems.
Google is your friend

Great.
Have u downloaded the custom rom.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Yeah I downloaded the latest one... from cyanogenmod website. What to do next?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Put that file in memory card.
Then reboot to recovery.
Then select option to do factory reset / wipe data / wipe cache / wipe dalvik cache.
Then select install zip from sdcard. Then select choose zip from sdcard. Then select ur file downloaded. That's all. Takes about 5min to install and 5min to 1st boot.
And in recovery mode, the trackpad should be used for selecting option. And power button for go back option. If u r stuck with an android picture then press power button.

Can you get to the recovery?
Flash it
And regarding cm7 also download google apps and flash in the same way.
And that's all for cm7 AFAIK. u don't need any extra kernels if u r a simple user. OC KERNEL is also inbuilt. Check cyanogenmod settings under settings.

Nandroid backup should be done before installing a custom rom. It is must if u ask me bcoz it clears many issues.
And titanium backup is for advanced users to be used after flashing a custom rom. Yes kernel might change depending on its presence in the custom rom. But don't worry. Custom kernels will be better than stock kernel.
Edit: Titanium backup can also be used before installing custom rom to backup contents. These contents can be restored after installing custom rom.

Google apps will be present at where u downloaded the custom rom I think. But if u make a google search it is easy to find. Don't forget to download for buzz.

Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
You can do a nandroid backup in the recovery.
Backup/Restore option if my memory is correct.
Then just click backup and wait a bit
Nandroid backup can be done from the custom recovery. Explore it and u will find it under nandroid. Takes 5 min to backup. A size if around 250MB on sdcard will be used.
And Google apps is a zip file around 10mb which can be flashed in the same way from the custom recovery as a custom rom flashing process.

Oh okay thanks! Ill try. So basically that's it right? But what about contacts on my phone? Will it be transferred or must I change them all to sim card? anyway just being curious will flashing s custom rom be of a huge difference?

You need a nandroid backup BEFORE flashing a rom, because that's like a system recovery image. If something goes wrong, you can still go back.

Help! Recovery not loading...

I m on tripnmiui latest version n locked bl . I was thinking of trying a different rom but I just found out that my xrecovery isn't working. Pressing back several times or installing the dooms app did not help. I don't understand what has gone wrong. If any1 has an idea it'll be greatly appreciated.

Happened to me before on trips roms, and I was like"WTF!!!" who knows what he did to it when he changed xRecovery into his on TripNMIUI. Now he's gone for good. Never trusted his work.
You can try flashtool 0.2.91 GB ready and install xRecovery there. Connect your phone and ask Root permissions, grant access and install xRecovery.

Help Please ='(

Hi Guys i was trying to install a rom but i got an error like this one on the wipe data factory it says Skipping format of /sd-ext.
and when i go to the restore part to flash a nandroid to restore my phone it says something like this after restoring cache i get this
sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext.
What can i do guys?? my phone its not working at all, i just got this yesterday =S
please help!!
What did you do exactly?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Umm, unless you have an A2SD partition on your SD card, recovery won't see it and therefore there is nothing to wipe.
Most problems can be fixed by flashing the PD15IMG.ZIP found in the downgrade tutorial, but that may not be necessary.
More details will help us to help you.

ok the last rom i used was InsomMIUI but i wanted to flash another rom, when i get to the CWM i was doing everything normal you know, wipe data/factory reset,
wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, fix permissions, when i do the wipe data/factory reste i get this--> Skipping format of /sd-ext
and when im trying to do a restore with a nandroid i get the same thing
so i went to the mounts and storage and if im not wrong it have to be UMMU but the mount /sd-ext part doesnt let me change it to unmount i dont know if that's the problem cause the error that im getting its related to the /sd-ext
This is normal and expected. Ignore this. It's not an error.
Dude this is normal... Mine says this all the time.
