Hi
I'm desparately searching the Nexus one 2.3.3 stock music app because I lost (deleted) it when installing the Honeycomb music player. Now I`ve found the 2.3.2 music.apk but the OTA update to 2.3.4 still fails before installation when checking the music app.
I'm running a rooted stock 2.3.3 with superuser, root explorer...
Any Help will be much appreciated

The music app was part of the system image that the OTA verifies before installing. So...you need to flash a stock image in order to restore the image integrity.
I understand. I fear you are right. Thanks a lot.
All the same I don't intend to reflash, thats too much work for me. If somebody has got the stock 2.3.3 music.apk or knows where I can download it, I would appreciate that. Even if I can't get the OTA update that way

The music app is included in most ROMs. Just find a 2.3.3 ROM (older Cyanogen), and extract the apk...
You don't have a titanim backup copy??? If not I have the files if you want I can send you
Thanks a lot. After a long work Now I got it! Extracted the File from a ota I found in the Wiki I discovered today. After that even the update worked!

When I launch Samsung apps it says update available. I tried to install it and it says installation unsuccessful. Anyone has the same problem? What is this samsungapps.una do? Anyone knows?

Am having the same problem also..
When the tab tries to update samsung apps it downloads new versions of the samsungapps.apk and the samsungapps.una.apk to /data/apps folder. Both apps install manually but on launch samsung apps still wants to upodate the una.apk.
I assume its a r/w rights issue with the modaco rom but have so far failed in my attempts to sort it...
Hope someone has the answer to this!
Its your csc code.
i suggest you to not update samsung store, the new one is a mess... it says updates in all apps even if you don't have installed ones and the new layout is crap too.
Same problem here... :-(

Read this in a other thread on XDA. Did what it said and now i can update and have access to the new layout off samsung apps. I also have modacos rom and used root explorer to delete the file.

If you want to update SamsungApps on modaco - just delete /system/app/UNAService.apk (don't forget to make a backup of this file)

Thanks for the guidance - I can now open Samsung Apps. And understand what the other posts mean!
Terrible interface, and most of the apps are not worth having.

I have a question, will renaming the latest OTA update (24 MB) to PD15IMG be able to install through hboot?

If it is the original file released by tmobile (read: not modified/altered), it will work on a factory stock phone.

My phone is rooted, clockwork recovery gives me an error (status 7) with file verification disabled. The file was downloaded to the /cache folder and moved to the sdcard root folder and renamed to update.zip. I was just wondering if naming it to PD15IMG.zip would actually make a difference or just would not even load.
PD15IMG.ZIP files should only be flashed in bootloader. Don't try and flash it in recovery. It won't work.

Do you know what the update file is called?
I loaned my phone to my wife for the day as she wanted to try it out, and she thought she would be helpful by downloading the update. She handed the phone back to me with the error screen - panicked for a moment...
Anyway, the stupid notification won't go away, and I'd love to go in and delete the update file so I can get rid of the notification, but I don't know what the filename is.
On a side note, why is my phone getting an OTA update anyway? I thought rooted phones didn't receive OTA updates?

The file is in /cache and has a filename OTA_GLACIER_TMOUS... can't remember the rest of the filename. What I did was just choose the ”discard” option and the phone deleted the file and no more notification. I think we get the option to update since we are using a stock rooted rom and not a custom one.
That makes sense. Thanks.
Now to look for a rooted stock rom with the update built in....
What can I say? I like stock, I just hate bloat.

There is a stock, rooted, debloated ROM in the dev section. Its a ways down, but its there.

Actually, I'm looking for just rooted stock with the update, untouched.
Bloat is open to interpretation.
Thanks though, I'll take a look and see what's available.
I'd actually consider cm in the long run, but I'm waiting for confirmation one way our the other for ICS before I make a decision.

Here is one with the latest update that is rooted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20156306. Remember you have to be rooted already and create a backup to restore your settings afterwards.
So I can't update to 4.2.1 since I deleted a few of the Google apps to save battery life... Id rather not flash a stock ROM img and loose everything.. If anyone knows where I can get stock gapps bundled up for download I'd appreciate it

I want to keep my Nexus stock but I really like the text message app from cm. Is there a way to use that one instead of the stock message app? I'm assuming I just have to remove the stock app and then replace it with the cm one right?

Yup. Replace and set permissions. Reboot
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Replace it in root explorer.
Yes, just use any file manager with root access and replace it and then give correct permission (rwx-r--r-- I believe)
Also I highly advise you to make a copy of the stock app and place it somewhere in the phone, just in case.
ALSO if you're odexed, this might now work as it also needs odex file and if you are odexed and replaced the app, you might get into the bootloop I think. Never tried it on odexed ROMs, but I think that's what happens

I'm using stock. I'm not sure if stock is odexed. How do I get the app? Do I just unzip a cm update zip?

Did you do flash any ROM? If not, you have odexed ROM. Make sure to make a nandroid backup before doing this as I believe you might get into the bootloop.
You can easily get the app by doing that.

All ive done with the phone is unlock the bootloader and root it. So your saying that I should install a CWM and do a nandroid? Won't installing that wipe my phone?

No. Before you screw with anything in system, make a backup. If you break something, a simple restore will fix it.
The cm message app is system/app/messaging.apk. Extract it from the cm zip and follow the directions above to install it.

You won't go into a boot loop, only thing that will happen is either the Mms.apk won't show up in the launcher or it'll FC. Sometimes, using the newest one from nightlies will cause FC. One has been posted in the apps section that works and has what you're looking for. Its better to use any root explorer app and copy it to /system/apps and fix permissions. And like someone said, make a copy of your original Mms.apk and Mms.odex files to your phone..
Sent from my Nexus 4
If you're just stock rooted, you'll have to go in and re-install the messaging app after every reboot because the stock uses the .odex files to create the mms app, but there is a stock, deodexed, rooted ROM here, and you can just load the CM10.1 MMS into it and it'll work fine. That's what I did
Or you could check out Glowfly on the play store.
It's a pop-up notification app with quick reply support.
Made the same recommendation in a similar thread in the Themes and Apps section. I'm not affiliated with the devs. Just wanted to show support for a good app.
anyone know if this app changes the orienation of your photos from landscape to portrait? This seemed to be a bug on all roms using this apk on my old Galaxy s2.

Hello,
does someone knows where I can find the stock android Browser ? (not Chrome)
The one that is on most phones.
I tried to install the browser.apk from a ROM 2.3.6 of LG P920. But It won't install.
I'm on stock 4.2.2 no root
I found this thread with a quick search (which you should have done before posting). Try installing the .apk with a root explorer as suggested by the OP.
EDIT: Ironically I was the one who didn't read your post properly, sorry. Since you don't have root the above won't work.
Play store basically the same
