Just did it... but no luck :-(

Search around, I had the same issue as you but I needed to have the SBF file in the root "C:\" directory. I think RSDLite has some directory dependency where it expects the path to the file to be something specific. Good luck!

2.13 update on mac???!!!help

anyone else ona mac that cant get on a pc figure out how to do this i wanted to flash via sd card and cant ? i guess soo what am i to do i am already downloading wine/macports/x11/xcode3.1
as directed by
http://davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/#part-5
anyone who acctually knows what they are doing wanna lend a hand i think im almost done waiting on terminal to finish then maybe run the update .exe
i don't have a mac or a tmous but here's my theory.
i'm pretty sure the .exe won't install under wine, however the exe is nothing more than a zip file that can execute itself, so first off i'd try using a mac version of winzip or similar to try open it as an archive, or if that doesn't work, try running winrar in wine and again see if you can open the archive.
(you could even try simply changing the file name from .exe to .zip, see how your compression software reacts.)
once you get it open you can extract ruu_signed.nbh and move on to flashing from sd card.
alternatively, something like bootcamp to boot to a windows install.(go for xp if that's all you're using it for) and then you should certainly be able to unzip the .exe, though i'm uncertain whether you'll be able to usb flash, even from xp.(i know you can't use bootcamp for hspl.)
ok
ok soo i downloaded the leaked version cause i cant get to download the offical download, but i download the zip file and im runing 10.6.3 (latest) it gets unarchived and i get the exe file and how w ould i extract it just opens up in a txt edit and get the usual symbol jamble.

Hm... just a stab in the dark. I experienced a problem with RSD also, but don't remember the exact error code. Here is what I did:
Move .SBF file to C:/
Name it "X.sbf"
Run RSD, it will probably give an error
Go check the error log (sorry, don't remember where it is located)
In the logfile it will say something like "Xa few random characters here.sbf failed"
Let's say it says "Xµµµ.sbf failed"
Go back and RENAME the .sbf file to however many random characters there are
In my example, we would rename the file to "X123.sbf"
Now it should work
in the rsd lite file there is no error log. i don't understand, with all the errors i've gotten there should be one...
fixed. thread can be deleted.
Heres the instructions

Xperia X10 not recognizing APKs as APKs ?

I was in another thread trying to figure out how to install xRecovery and I'm starting to think that the problem is that my phone isn't recognizing the apks as apks. Has anyone else had this problem? It only recognizes the xRecovery file as a .zip and so I can't use the installer to install it.
Why you don't just use flashtool to root and install xRecovery? That's much easier.
bro why dont you try renaming the .zip to .apk it works!try it!

I tried that already thanks, tho...
I was hoping to not have to mess around with something else but I guess I will give flashtool a shot
you can always use Manual method,
just extract and copy these three files (busybox, chargemon, xrecovery.tar) from xrecovery.zip or xrecovery.apk to your Phone/system/bin directory, using root explorer (with r,w, rights)

You had to change to name of the .zip to .apk with a file manager on your phone. Maybe you had a setting turned on on your pc that prevents from displaying file extension.

i tried that and that didn't work. now i'm starting to think something is up with how my computer handles these .zip files though...now i'm trying to download install the .ftf file from this thread and when i put that file directly into the firmware folder in flashtool it doesn't recognize it as a .ftf file (and its listed as a .zip file when i download it)...this is frustrating the bajeezus out of me

ya know what, i'm not even sure right now since i've done so much ish to this dang phone in the past day lol i did figure out that i had to change the settings in windows to not hide the extensions of known file types so that i could change the .zip to .apk. Since I had already installed xRecovery I don't know if that would have solved the problem but I'm assuming it would have. Thanks for your help everyone!

Manual Gingerbread update issues.

I have noticed a few other people having the same issues. When i try manually updating my phone, I get error no image. I tried renaming it just PD15IMG but it still shows up as PD15IMG.zip when trying to install via. hboot. I have followed the steps. I formatted my SD card, put the file on there, turned fast boot off, powered down the phone, hold the volume down button + power button and then hboot shows up, it tries to load and i get the error. Is there any other way I can try renaming the file? maybe it is the reason it will not recognize it as a update img.

Are you using this http://megaupload.com/?d=N8XGHXJC uploaded by Gr33nF0x. I used this file 2-3 times now with 0 issues. If this is the file you have try a different sdcard. You don't half to rename it just do this
How to install this update (IF YOU ARE ROOTED YOU WILL LOSE IT )
You will lose apps and data on the phone but all data on sdcard will be fine
1. Download the PD15IMG.zip file posted http://megaupload.com/?d=N8XGHXJC
2. Put file on the root of your sdcard (leave it zipped and don't put it in any folder)
3. go to settings/applications make sure fastboot is unchecked (on 2.2.1)
4. power off
5. push and hold volume down and power till you get into hboot
6. it will scan file when its done it should ask you to update push volume up
I have tried it multiple times with 3 different SD cards. I've tried renaming it etc.
Did you try redownloading and checking MD5?

It's pretty much used to confirm the integrity of a file, good with large files that are downloaded.

I downloaded it, but I am not very good with command lines, how would i check the integrity of the file? Like what would i type, the file path?
So I had a fellow from the forums send me his, still won't work. I'm beginning to suspect its my phone.
worked great for me thanks!!!
Can someone post a how-to video for me? I know its asking a lot. The only reason I am so eager to do this 1. I am a prepaid customer, It will take forever to get the OTA 2. the closest t-mobile RETAIL store is 80+ miles away. I have followed wolf's steps, attempted to check the MD5 of the file but can't seem to find the MD5 code on greenfox's file. Any further help would be much appreciated. This is the MD5 code that i got off the file, I just have nothing to match it against - c38aa6e2572ecec383eac5d6412dc6bf. Can anyone confirm or deny the MD5 checks out for me please.

Huawei is weird

Ok so I used superoneclick to root my ladies u8800-51. Wow simple as ever coming from HTC let me say. Going to install the CWM recovery.img to it, screen was purple/Red. I accidentally renamed the folder that was there instead of just the original recovery image. So questions... What was the folders original name? now no recovery is coming up just a blue screen.. HElp me get her phone going again so i can flash some ROMS
The recovery.img is in .cust_backup\image at least in my u8800

So it having different colors n not going into recovery might b an issue right ? I might have not done something right even though I read instructions 4x n all. Lol my girl is now complaining she can't play candy crush either on it. Like I said huawei is odd n weird to me.

You had overwrite file recovery.img, no rename the folder. You are weird, no Huawei.
Now you have bricked phone.
You can try connect phone in bluescreen to pc, maybe you can see partitions.
If your phone is still visible as usb mass storage, rename the folder to "image". There will be only one folder in that partition.

So me seeing partitions. What can be done from there ? How do I complete root from here

You just haven't the recovery mode(for this the blue image). This doesn't mean that the phone isn't rooted. There are 2 separate things. You can use a file explorer with root option(e.g ES file explorer), to go the the "image" folder in which are all the system images(recovery.img, boot.img etc). The path is /.cust_backup/image and in this folder you will find the recovery.img. Probably this image haven't a different name or extension. It must be recovery.img, otherwise the system doesn't recognize it. To make changes in this folder you must previously mount it as Read/Write(is Read only by default). For this you can use Remount application(you can find it on google play), and then you can from ES file explorer(or any other root file manager) to rename the file or replace and whatever you want.
This is one from several ways. You can also boot again in pink screen mode and do these changes(without the need of remounting) from pc file explorer. You can also do something similar as the first way from pc via adb.

No...
Just hold +/- plus power buttons when the phone is off
Connect to computer and drag recovery.img to the folder
if it asks, overwrite.
Out of curiousity, what guide are you following?
