My company uses exchange server for e-mails. I remember that exchange mail is supported by android, but the mail app in A500 only supports pop3 and imap.
I know that apps like roadsync would work, but still want to use original mail app to do this. Anyone know how to do it?
go to settings - accounts & sync - add account
from there u can add ur corporate exchange email
this can only be done when u have received the latest OTA update thou (not the honeycomb update which is coming soon)
If you can not wait for the OTA update (like me) then you can install "Touchdown for Tablets", from the Market.

Hi,
I have built a application rk-OSR which automatically synchronizes outlook email accounts. I want to see if I can extend the functionality to ‘Exchange Sync’ too. So users should be able to sync their exchange account too (At this point I have no idea if it’s possible).
Since I do not have exchange account I do not know how to test it. So any one interested please reply. I will send them a test app so that I want to check couple of things.
Thanks

I've had multiple accounts without a problem...mail2web and gmail (pop3).....I don't see where there should be a conflict. They will have seperate folders etc.

Thanks amewolf I got it. I signed up with mail2web and configured my device..
So good
I may be a little behind but found Mobipush.com and liked it but wanted to see what everyone else was using. you set up 5 email addresses and it pushes to your outlook folder (it wont save sent emails on the ppc though, wierd). How does everyone else use email? push email? I have an aol, yahoo and a work email address (wish i used my gmail more).
for mobipush, can you reply to from the original email addresses?
most people use a free exchange account with mail2web.
There's many other "free" push solutions, but most of them require additional software (which no one likes doing). Haven't heard of mobipush.
sorry to sound dumb...free exchange account? that means its their email address or i can still use mine? The MobiPush account i use my email account
push account
It requires software, but emoze is free and nice.
i tried them all, and the best one i think is mail2web. i foward all my mail to my mail2web account. I pay 5 dollars a month to have all the sent mail with my main email address. it links to the server so all my contacts and calendar and email are synced. Which is great so when I flash my phone (which I do often) i get all my emails and contacts through syncing back to my mail2web account.
if anyone has a better setup please let us know

How about a solution that keeps $5 a month, back into your pocket!
Guys nothings better than this:

You'll agree after you set it up....Plus it doesn't use ActiveSync so your saving your battery too, it pushes in the same manner Windows Live mobile does.

Seven does have one that does but what I posted is Email Push only and it'll notify similar to Windows Live Mobile Hotmail.
As for AOL, try it, its listed in the app.... Nothing is better than hands on right?
I use it for my GMail & Yahoo! accounts...

Yes you can
So my sister has the 6700 and set up the "outlook" email to have push email with gmail. I went to set it up and it asks for the email address....then the username/password and the Domain (any ideas on what that means?), then next and it searches, and asks for the server address (any ideas here?). She said she set her's up with the pop3 address outgoing/ingoing...it never asks for that...
Ive used mail2web and I hate not being able to repsond with my gmail account unless i pay $5 a month. WHat i do now, is setup gmail to forward all my email to [email protected]. This setp is perfect for me; it basically becomes a notifier for you to check your gmail (so of course i have setup to check email manually). Works great and saves batteries as you can read alot of emails right off the text message
Do mobipush support HMTL Email ? Seven does but can't download attachments for some reason.

I am almost sure that it does. I just dont use it b/c yahoo wont let me without paying i think
Try this one. You have to download their software but it doeesn't put much of hit on your phone. http://www.funambol.com/
I installed my own exchange server cuz mail2web wasn't workin' for me as I have my own custom domain... They make you pay if you want to change your reply-to address.
Windows Server 2008 + Exchange 2007 is VERY slick if u can run into the licenses... I do feel a lil geeky installing enterprise software for 1 mailbox tho? lol. The web mail is awesome too lol. and not to mention using regular outlook... having everything linked together is sweeeeeet... open outlook on laptop ... add a contact or make a change and seconds later look at my pda and it's already sync'd... slick!
I really could NOT be happier having exchange sync on my device... it makes ALL the difference in email and contact sync... I lost my contacts so many times from hard resets and syncs between computers messing up... exchange is DEF the way to go for the all-around best experience.
Dont forget Windows Live push Email
Windows Live mobile services does free push email on Hotmail, MSN, Live, and OfficeLive email for free... even on free accounts.
Or forward you existing mail to a free Hotmail, MSN, Live, and OfficeLive email account.
I made a quick video on how to do it here.. no hacking necessary.

No simple task... you need Windows Server (2003 or 2008) with lots of roles installed before you can install Exchange. And I wanted to go with the new Exchange 2007 which requires a x64 operating system as well.
Exchange isn't really meant for personal use.. it's a business/enterprise server installation... I just didn't wanna pay the $5-10/month for exchange hosting from someone else so I setup my own... Microsoft really needs to release some kind of a "personal" exchange server or something because it really stinks all these windows mobile peeps can't have exchange functionality without paying for a service
Hi all.
Is there a way to set up Gmail account on HERO to get emails straight on me mobile and not have gmail to check every 5mins for them ?
It really annoys me that Im not able to get it done and have to wait for the mobile to sync every 5minutes...
I had nokia e71 before and it was working like a dream..and not to have Google system and not be able to do that???...
Thanks for any help
I take it you are not using the Gmail app, and are using HTC's email app?
Google sync now support ActiveSync for Exchange, so you can set up Gmail as it it were an exchange server, and have your email pushed out to you.
See here. The instructions don't include Android, but you should be able to work out what you need to do from the iPhone set up.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks,
I have one exchange account setup already and it looks like I can not set any more ?
There is this 'google mail' app on my hero and it is the one that is set for gmail at the moment.I can not change any setting in it (or can I ? I had a look and could not find anything)

The Gmail app does get email pushed to it - there's no setting because that's how it always works.

Hello current EVO owners answering "does it do...?" questions! Your time and patience is much appreciated.
If you have more than one email account synched to the EVO, can you change the alert tone to something different for each account? Any issues with customizing ring tones for email, SMS, MMS, (I assume it's easy to assign custom ring tones to calls received from specific phone numbers...)
Any issues with email push? What accounts are working well for that? (Yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc.)
Thanks!

As far as I know, Gmail is the only push service on Android. I've been having some issues with it as described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689906
well thats the only included push email app..there are a few in the market that support push email

Sorry, I didn't know that Exchange sync was push email.
On my Moment, exchange emails show up before they do on my desktop. And yes you can assign a different tone. I have different tones for gmail and exchange. Should be same for Evo.
Perfect! Thank you very much!
The question is.. does the calendar sync with exchange?
I wouldn't think the exchange would work different than any other version. I think you can sync email, contacts and the calendar but notasks. Google actually had to pay licensing fees to MS to get this.

I know Android on my TP2 would not sync the exchange calendar.
You can use Seven on Android to get you email. I use it on my WiMo for Gmail and Hotmail.

Momma always told me that everything on the internet was true.
stuck with lotus notes
My Company runs Lotus Notes and is a BB shop with BES. I'm thinking about switching to EVO, but am concerned about getting my email (although i could just forward it to gmail) but more importantly, I am concerned about how i would get my corporate calendar on my evo and have it sync wirelessly.
Does anyone know how to get Notes to sync wirelessly on the evo?

What a mature response, I am glad you got to add to your post count. Pat youself on the back you made fun of someone on the internet. You're too cool!
So its a known issue that hotmail active sync doesn't work on sense builds.. I found by using the stock email app not htc's you can set up hotmail using the corporate sync settings. here is the apk from vanilla android working great with my hotmail account and mdeejay desire build. just make sure the server is m.hotmail.com. check both boxes bout certificates and make sure you only add @hotmail.com to user name do not remove the /. The domain box should remain blank..
Sent from my HTC Vision HD2
i have been waiting for this for a very long time...thank you!
Absolutely G-R-E-A-T!

Gmail is excellent on Android. Just go into gmail and have it receive your hotmail emails too?
Gmail tells you from which email account each email is and replies from the same account that received the message. Of course as far as i know theres no Gmail widget for emails? (someone tell me if one exists, not that i search specifically for it)

Active sync is for more than just push emails though especially if you have Outlook which many do. And Gsyncit is a pay for app which active sync can do for free in one step. Also if you have lots of folders like I do on my outlook then you can't access these either.
EDIT: I have tonight discovered a solution to my problem of not being able to set up my Hotmail Exchange Active Sync. I have been trying for ages to set this up using the normal HTC email client. It kept reporting it had failed and I should try again later. So I found another email app called Improved Email and tried it with that and what do you know? It works! So now I am synced via Hotmail Exchange and my emails come instantly. In fact they arrive faster on my HD2 than on my home PC running outlook! So it begs the question why can't I set this up on the HTC email client??
Working now in the stock sense email app in EVO 3.70.651.1 Build
Just to confirm - once this is done, we can access our Hotmail via the HTC email app, or do we have to use the stock Android one?
Thanks!

Can you please explain how to get the Gmail app to use a hotmail account? I too like the Gmail app and would rather use it than "email", but when I go to add an account it goes to the "Add a Google Account" screen, with no posibility to do anything other.
Hi
This is almost perfect now i have two hotmail accounts linking with my HD2 running android on NAND using the DFT stock rom
One thing i can not get to sync is the contacts ???
All e-mail and folders and both calanders sync but not the Contacts
i have tried 3 other roms all the same problem
Help
Steve
Sorry to revive this thread but will this work on a HTC Aria? Apparently the Aria also suffers from the same bug that wont allow you to sync your phone with hotmail.
