so i improved it to be like that = vol up+ vol down +power and wait the screen gonna be black then back to ! then go black again when go black again do the download combo power+ home + vol down ..
it will enter download mode and flash your rom and have fun ..
u don't need to send it to Samsung or buy usb jig
note: maybe this method will not work on devices cant do the 3 button combo
or the devices has a corrupted boot loader but i tried it twice ..

Your description is really hard to understand. The screen you are posting about means NO Death.Actually i have had it a few times, and download mode is accessible from this screen, recovery mode is not though. This screen refers to a bad connection while flashing which is usually not harmful(unless you are updating bootloaders) and it is easy to recover from it.

Agreedwith you.
Wow....a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.
The second poster is right...you didn't actually do what you thought you did, whatever it is you thought you did as the first post is nearly gibberish. Read a little more on the different states your phone can be in and you will understand.

Umm.. Maybe its because you were pressing the wrong keys in the first place. I'm surprised you got that combo working in 2.1 (which is what you are implying)..
Also, the picture you showed I've had a few times, and I never needed a jig. You simply pull the power, use Home+Vol down+power, and THEN plug the phone in by USB. JIG's are RARELY needed, and in some cases, people who think they need a jig might just have a faulty phone, or may simply not be willing to experiment to get it working again.
Sorry, its good that you are contributing, but I myself recall posting similar posts to the forum many times in the past, and many others have as well. But nevertheless, good to hear that you got it working!

Okay, so my Mytouch is bricked, and I'm trying to figure out if theres a way to unbrick it and while messing with the phone I do this:
While the phone is off, when holding down the "Action" key then pressing the "Power" key, the led illuminates blue. The screen does nothing!
So, I don't know if something else happens to a perfectly normal working MT3G/Hero but I thought I would share and ask if there are any other key combination besides the regular fastboot presses.
Is there a list or does anyone know all the possible combinations and what they do?
I'm in the same boat as you, but I've tried every combination possible and nothing. The only thing I can say is after about 3 hours on a charger the charging light comes on but once I press the power key that stops. I think this is one of those phones that once you brick you're done for and there is nothing to bring it back.
Home+Power = recovery mode
volume down+power = fastboot
don't know of any past that
I had saved this info a while back:
BACK + POWER : Fastboot mode
VOLDOWN + POWER : Hboot mode
ACTION (trackball) + POWER : Radio Bootloader
HOME + POWER : Recovery mode
SEND + MENU + POWER : Reboot
I don't know what's the use of the Radio bootloader though. What I can tell you is that even on a working phone you don't get more than the blue led (I just tested)
sorry if it's not very helpful

Cant access HBOOT through Back+Power or Vol down+Power anymore. And dont have any ROM installed on phone.
Found that combination as well Action+Power.
dont know if it usefull in this case.
Option i found so far is JTAG method. that can unbrick device by loadin new HBOOT and Radio. so resurrection still available. didnt try it but hope i will.

and only the 3 button combo can save it, but if the phone have 3 button sequence disable, you are pretty much dead in the water.

That ain't no brick. You're in the recovery console. You have to hit a buton combination to get out of it.
Press one of the volume keys together with the power on button (red phone). I think it was those. Could be another combo though.
Still not working sir I used vol down + power not happend anything, when vol up + power my tattoo start blank screen and green led indicator only ...
Hy!
I can (very cheap) buy a HTC Tattoo which is broken.
The problem is (seller says) : When he try to turn on HTC Tattoo its just vibrating.
Can anyone say me is it hardware or software problem?

Hi, the easiest option is to remove the battery n replace it, then turn the phone on. The other option is to keep pressing the buttons home and call end, together.

Is there a hard reset or turning Tattoo in DFU mode (something like that) for flashing?

Sorry for the late response, you can go to the boot screen by pressing the home button and end button together... This method will only work if the phone is rooted. Else, create a Gold card and get into the fast boot mode by pressing vol down and end button simultaneously lemme know if it worked.

Madaleno, looking at the attachment it shows that your phone is not rooted, which means that you cant apply update via SD card.. it will give u an error message. Create a gold card by grabbing a smart phone from someone, it can be windows mobile or android based.... Once a gold card is created, you can flash a stock ROM. To navigate on the menu, based on ur attachment, use volume up and down keys and call button to select.
If it is not rooted maybe you still have warranty for the phone so you can send it to free service.
Well... no warranty...
And volume up/down does nothing...

You don't need your tattoo to make a gold card.
Ask someone with a Android device, and put you sd card and do it.

I've used a symbian to read CID and created a goldcard
Can someone give me some guidelines what to do next?
With your phone turned off, press power + volume down buttons at the same time.
Then wait a litle and press back until appears "FASTBOOT" in the screen.
Then connect the usb cable and flash the stock ROM.

Do you get no power when you turn on your phone? Nothing shows up on the screen at all. You have the worst brick possible that is recoverable. I wished this post came out before I did a warranty swap.

- You need Odin program before starting.
1. Remove the battery, external SD card and SIM card.
2. Wait 10 seconds.
3. Open odin3
4. Insert battery.
5. Connect usb cable.
6. HOLD VOL+ and VOL- while plugging in USB
Got download screen and flashed with ODIN..
Let ODin finish.
*** This program recovered my dead phone with no power, nothing shows up on my screen. - Dead and also a stuck boot up screen.
I saw another post that has the similar set of instructions 6. HOLD VOL+ and VOL- and then press the power button. Nothing happens.
I am curious how people this post has helped. Can you respond when you these directions gets your phone up. Thank you.

Jtag is usefull for empty or totally corrupted ROM recovery.
But if you see this, your phone is FAR from brick !
Just press the keys, bring it back to download mode
Then plug to cable and flash a working firmware again.
No special tools is needed,
No need to waste time and money send for repair,
Don't waste your good phone and don't break it for jtag.

Are you seeing the Phone-!-PC symbol? I was in a situation where my phone wouldn't accept the the up/down key press to enter download mode. I ended up having to make a jig which basically will force the phone into download mode. You can search the forums on how to make one.

This is what most people always do to enter dl mode.
However, many phones shipped without the button combos needed for it to work. In that case it is possible to make a USB jig to trigger download mode manually. see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551

I had the exact same "phone - ! - PC" brick screen and vol up + vol down + power only took me to "unknown upload mode". I eventually figured out by myself that holding ONLY vol down + power for 10 sec is what takes you to download mode from that particular screen.
Summary: Anyone who's getting "Phone--!--PC" and the three-button combo takes you to "unknown upload mode", try holding vol down + power for 10 seconds.

The guys just turned off my phone and didn’t turn on, didn’t enter into the backup, I can’t flash through ODIN because even after installing the drivers, the computer sees the phone as a ULC1 device and cannot install the drivers needed for the phone, who had such a problem decide? samsung j100fn
So my friend rooted and flashed CWM on his Galaxy S i9000, then he wasnt happy so he tried to restore the old backup. It gave him an error, now the phone is stuck in bootloop. The problem is that he cant get back into HBOOT either because Power+Vol UP+Home doesnt work. Any ideas guys?

Do a battery pull first
try a different combination of keys ( Vol down+home+power or home+power )
Failing which use easy reboot recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796807

Did you ever get into to Download Mode or Recovery Mode before you stuck?
Yeah, I accessed the recovery with Vol Up + Power + Home, but only when the phone was booted up fully. He was trying to restore the old ROM in CWM but it gave him error flashing boot image, then he restarted the phone and got the bootloop problem, so theres no way to restart it into HBOOT. I will try your method xsenman, have to wait till sunday so the phone gets here. If anyone has some other tips, I would appreciate it.

May be you bricked your phone. You can try solutions mentioned below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134975
USB-jig FTW
It's not bricked..if you're seeing anything on the screen, it should be recoverable. And even hard bricked phone can be saved with the UnBrickablemod.

Okay heres the thing. Easy Reboot Recovery does nothing, just opens and closes, I guess since it kinda doesn't recognize the USB from the phone. Then I used SGS Rescue Kit, launched OneClick.jar, connected the phone, clicked unsoft brick and it said Sucessful, the phone started showing the Samsung logo, but then nothing happens. Tried Easy Reboot Recovery again, but nothing. Any ideas?
Can you still access download mod ( Volume Key down + Menu + Power ) ?
If yes you can download a stock ROM that includes PIT PDA PHONE CSC and BOOTLOADER files, this page contains links to all theses files :
http://www.androidgen.fr/tutoriel-s...id-gingerbread-2-3-6-odin-article-2110-2.html
Now once you download these files just start Odin and put:
s1_odin_20100512.pit in PIT
CODE_I9000XWJVZ_CL762604_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.md5 in PDA
MODEM_I9000XXJVT_REV_00_CL1064602.tar.md5 in MODEM
GT-I9000-CSC-HOME-MULTI-OXAJVT.tar.md5 in CSC
