how do you think about this mod? i made this mod because i have seen some users want other methods to access ics multitasker instead of key remapping..
i'm still prefer search key remapping or onscreen softkeys so i don't know whether this is useful or not.
please post your opinion or suggestion

I like it much better than having the nav bar at the bottom. I can get that extra screen space back if this were implemented into roms.
You should post a how-to so we can mod our frameworks

AMAZING!!
Man this is simply amazing!! Even better than what I suggested in your remap thread because this way multitask can be accessed from every where in the UI!!
Absolutely brilliant!
And as the poster before me said, now we can regain the space used by navbar at the bottom! I now set it up so that it disappears on landscape ( using your other thread ) but with this we can go full screen!
Would love to have a How-To mate
Thank you very much for your amazing efforts and mods
I'm not trying to troll or anything, but how (or why) is this better than just long-pressing home key? Am I missing something or?
I think it's kinda cool! I know I can just long press home, but I would also like to be able to do it from here.

This is actually REALLY cool! All your "useless" mods are from useless . You're a brilliant modder. Only problem with this is you can't use it when playing a game aha

I can only speak for myself, but the time it takes to long press to bring up the recent apps feels like an eternity to me. I prefer button remapping or on screen keys to the long press. I like the looks of this mod, I'd have to give a go personally to realize if I preferred it over one of the other methods.
thank you for good responses
i made this mod for some roms : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23644426

is this great mod workin' on the 4.0.4 update as well ? or does it need to be updated ?
i tried it after the update and my notification bar dissapeared...and the system ui FC s a lot.... had to restore
Is it just me, or is touchwiz on a tablet actually really nice :L
i know it slows the tab down, but the widgets icons and notification bar r really minimalist and generally not bad looking!
And the fact that stock touchwiz hc roms come with polaris office and a pen memo means that i dont really mind the occasional lag it has :L
Im also looking forward to the ics touchwiz build aswell.
Does anyone agree with me?

Wow dude. This is bold. I don't totally disagree with you (in fact, I don't have much of an opinion one way or another), but you're definitely in the minority around here... I'll apologize in advance for the nonsense flames you'll get for posting this.

Yeah that's the thing though, a while I understand touchwiz on a phone is ugly. On a tablet its actually nice. :L they (samsung) havent done that much in terms of looks with tw, which is gd.
So yeah, bring on the trolls
I don't really see it. I have been using touching HC 3.2 for as long as I have the tablet. I just recently installed touchwiz-less ICS and now never want to go back to touching. I do not miss polarised office at all since it doesn't work with swiftkey tablet x, and ihave replaced pen memo with quill, which was only 20 cents. But I guess tastes are different...

Well, there are a few things I didn't like about TW:
1. Bright settings menu. The whole tab felt that it should have a dark theme and in most places it did. But then there was the settings menu that feels out of place.
2. The statusbar is annoying. I don't know how often I accidentally made a Screenshot when I didn't want to. Or brought up the pop up bar which contains alps I never use.

Having a Screenshot function available is nice, but I agree. But I prefer the way the ICS Rom I am using implements it: hidden in the power menu. I mean, why would you need it readily available at all times?

Honeycomb is a very good concept but a "beta version" software: slow, laggy, unstable and incomplete in several ways... I got my G.Tab 10.1 in January and 2 weeks later I flashed (and kept updated ever since) ICS KANG and loving it.
That said, I do like the added Samsung apps and functionality (on both my Note and my G.Tab 10.1) so as soon as it comes out I will flash Samsung's ICS update.
The Note is already great as it is on the latest LB1 Gingerbread ROM so I don't mind waiting a little more for ICS BUT I really can't wait to get Samsung's ICS ROM for the Tab 10.1 and pretty pissed off that they can't seem to be able to give a less vague date.
I hope they make it up to me by adding the split screen funcionality shown off on the Note 10.1 and a revamped note app which syncs across my Note's S Memo app and Outlook notes..
I think touchwiz on 3.X is amazing, really improves the experience. I cringe whenever I see the stock notification bar (I have to open it, hit settings and then hit settings again to actually open the settings compared to open it and hit settings once in touchwiz).
If touchwiz is that amazing, what's HTC sense? Sense is great on both phones and tabs. Look at the HTC jetstream, HTC did a much better job then Samsung.
I don't mind Touchwiz. I like some of the little extras, etc. Stock Honeycomb is still fugly so TW helps a tad, but since it's so light, not much. ICS is a huge improvement on phones, but not so much in tablets. It's bascially what Honeycomb should have been in the first place.
I'd rather have HTC Sense, but since HTC never had any good wifi tablets last year, it just wasn't in the cards. I will say, the GT 10.1 has been a good tablet and does everything I need it to do, but I won't be buying anymore Samsung products like.... um.... Ever. My next tab will be W8 and probably from Asus or something.
I have never liked HTC Sense at all, Touchwiz is a great compromise between adding functionality and staying as close as possible at the "Android experience" (which keeps on getting better and better). Ideally I would like to have a consistent experience across all Android devices with, at best, "touches" added by the different makers and design and hardware to differentiate among them. Sense goes totally against this.
Hi there,
I have been stumbling across some awesome CM10 themes and it's something I'd like to have although they are only for CM9 and CM10. I'm currently running rooted stock nexus 4, whats the benefits of having a rom like CM10 - does CM10 run 4.2.1? which is what im currently using?
Whats are the positives and negatives to switching?
If i switch, can I convert BACK to stock?
1. Use the search feature. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35521539
2. CM10 = Android 4.1.X....... does not support Android 4.2.X and does not support N4 (mako)
3. first link. no negatives. its like reformatting your computer. If you go to Windows 8 and don't like it, go back to Windows 7.. what are the negatives? none. just reinstall apps... use titanium backup to backup/restore apps (buy pro version)
4. Yes you can revert back to stock. Nothing is permanent on android.
......... next time, do some research before just straight up asking these questions as they are already answered.

a big positive with AOKP is the ability to add in and customize the on screen nav bar buttons. i came from a gs2. so setting this phone to have the same layout as my gs2 capacitive buttons is a real winner. you can also rearrange the order of and how many toggles there are in the quick settings drop down. there is a whole list of features that you get and the devving has only just begun.

CM10.1 (Jellybro) already has Navigation Bar changes. It's better off getting used to those three buttons IMO, menu is useless for me. I prefer having it as a touch button somewhere on the app. If not then I'll use the bottom right one.
You can arrange toggles on quick settings drop down as well on CM10.1.
CM10.1 is a ongoing project and is developing really fast without dirty hacks that AOKP does. Very clean code.

Pull down notifications -> Tiles -> Settings. Guess I got accustomed to it on my Galaxy Nexus where there wasn't a tile button. It was just pull down notifications -> settings. It takes some time getting used to it, but it's pretty good imo. But that's the best part about android you can do it the way you like it, traditionally or the new way
I used to like AOKP but felt it was too bloated with unnecessary crap like AOKP Wallpapers (Swagpapers), unnecessary unicorn stuff etc. I prefer CM as its cleaner code and more optimal whereas AOKP does things in 'hackish' code and just like what the name implies, it's kanged from CM sources anyway.

Ah I don't need arrows, I actually prefer them to be normal size. AOKP probably has this feature already, CM has a feature in which if you are on a entry field (typing) you can use volume keys.. up and down to move left and right of your words if you choose to (can be disabled).
the phone does sleep, it's built into a kernel module and uses very minimal battery life. I've used it since I saw it on the GN apps forum. if you use light flow, it probably uses the same amount of battery (or less). lightflow barely interferes with the phone's battery life.
oh that's easy.. just go to any youtube video and right click the video and click "Copy current url at current time" I figured I would save you some time and get to the point

Install LMT launcher and you will even have it with the stock or any other rom (root required). Available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150.
if you want to see pie grow use pa, this is where it comes from anyway and this is where it gets better almost daily. rootbox is developing it as well in their own way, which is cool.
lmt on the other hand is almost a carbon copy, but lacks function where it matters and lacks badly. even bringing it up is silly - on the nexus plattform, where almost all rom have pie because its open source. except cm.
why'd anyone wanna make do with a hack. you know, you dont have to see android progressing, but getting the newest and seeing ideas take shape and form is so much more fun than taking substitutes. thats why we're on nexus, no?

By that I assume you mean multitasking right? Then yes, yes it does. If it's not enabled by default (which I'm pretty sure it is) then it'll almost certainly be somewhere in the settings.

Not the recents button, there's actually a button which switches between the app your on and the last app you were on. Think of like the alt+tab shortcut on windows. Where you switch between two apps back and forth. I know AOKP does it but they don't have pie. Carbon and xylon both seem to have it with pie implemented, I was wondering what other ROMs have it. I've attached a picture of xylon with the last app being the one furthest to the right

Okay, maybe not as dramatic as the thread title suggests, but this is regarding the possibility of transforming the menu screens of our G2s to black.
I'm sure I'm not the only one out there, but I'm a big fan of black menus on my gadgets and computer systems. Howevevr, we have no such luck with the default LG UI on our G2s. As we all know, the default LG UI is predominantly white. Things like the settings menu, gallery, pop up notification windows, etc are all in white.
We have a bunch of talented modders here who have done some amazing work on navbars and status bars and icons, so I'd just like to know the possibilities of including a feature to turn all the system UI menus to black instead of white. I know that AOSP ROMs like CM already have that feature, but I'm not quite ready to switch over yet, without sacrificing some of the LG-exclusive features.
Just throwing out a request on behalf of the black menu lovers out there, and have an awesome weekend everyone!

C'mon dudes, Breaking Bad and musical tastes aside, it would be nice if we can have dark menus. I'm sure they would fit in nicely in a lot of custom themes we have going in our phones, more so than the boring white ones.

I'm Ll for the dark side. The inverted vibe looks much better. Checkout team blackout apps also.

And on topic: coming from the asylum I too want everything in black. Hadn't I lost the remote by doing so I had flashed cm with the black betterbean theme.
I'll dig in to the settings, contacts and phones apks and see how hard it'll be, and either put out a mod (for VZW deodexed users), or strictly for malladus.

Sweet. Malladus is pretty awesome so far, Blacked out would be even better, if for nothing else than the Settings and Phone/Contacts apps. I started digging around, it'll take me a bit. changed a bunch of styles in phone and contacts and all it got me was some nice looking black tabs. I didn't dig much further than that though tonight.

I'm sure it's going to be a pain in the a$$ just like it was for stock Droid X (GingerBlur). Even though in the end I did end up getting it all blacked out, I hated working on that thing for that exact reason. There's so many things to change, and in so many different places. Plus, back then I had a lot more motivation, and it helped that I had some collaboration with travp624, unkleduke, and kirbnite, but that was almost 3 years ago...lol
I hope you guys get it figured out; I wouldn't mind trying it out. I'd most likely just end up going back to CM10.2 since I like stock-like Android better than I do skinned Android, but that's just me. Once I got the Gnex, I just couldn't go back to skinned android

I would jump to Carbon right now, but i would have to be dragged kicking and screaming away from knock-off and the OIS camera. And the "put the phone to ear whilst ringing to answer" gesture.

I could help you out with the "knock off" portion, but the other two points, you're on your own with those...lol

Please tell me you have something other than a toggle in the quick settings for "screen off/lock". i like not having to look at the screen, and just knowing where the status bar is to double tap. Although, i could survive with a long press option for the Recents button though.

It's not a toggle, I would be annoyed by that too...lol
It requires running a third party launcher though. I myself run Nova launcher. You can create a task with Tasker, or if you don't want to pay for Tasker, or don't already own it, you can use "Screen Off and Lock" from the Play Store.
Once you set either Tasker or Screen Off and Lock, you can set the action as a gesture in the Launcher. I have mine setup with a double tap anywhere on the screen to "knock off"; It works really well.

Bad part is, that only works when you are on the launcher. I own Nova prime (or whatever the premium version is), and Tasker as well, but right now I'm completely hooked on Aviate. Eventually CM will port/create "double tap statusbar to turn screen off/lock". They already have knock on, which you would think would be the hardest one, ensuring that there is a listener when the screen is off and such.
