Whose buying the Evo 3D?

Since we pretty much know the Evo 3D is a reality, who is planning on getting the device?

Not until I get my specs together.
EDIT: Heard Atrix is coming to Sprint (most likely a no buy from me, because of locked bootloader), Nexus S (promising), and Evo 3D (perhaps sprint's first dual-core phone?)

If the Shooter is the Evo 3D then it will be dual-core.

Me probably.. even without an upgrade.

I'm thinking about something better than evo 3D. My upgrade is this September maybe something better will be out? If not then ill take the evo 3D if its dual core like the atrix but I will NOT buy a kyocera(however you spell it) .

lol im only 17 but im thinking about having a kid now just so i can do this since my upgrade isnt till next summer

and there are other things to consider before i give up my evo.

My 11 year has my old evo. She uses it with Google voice and its free

Probably not since I won't have a yearly upgrade. I'm fine with the evo till next year and getting the next evo.

This is what I will be doing as well. I have my Gold Premiere Status and will get the EVO 3D and just give my EVO to my daughter who is 10. She already has a Samsung Moment and keeps complaining it's too slow.

I'll most likely be picking one up.

I'll most likely be selling both my Epic and Evo to get the phone out of contract. Hopefully it will come close to making it where I dont need to spend any cash.

Will the Evo Shift ever get an update like Gingerbread, Sense 2.whatever (Desire HD/Inspire/Thunderbolt), or Sense 3 (Evo 3D sense)? Has anyone said that this will or would not happen?

Really hoping on it. I don't why HTC shipped this with the older version of sense. Maybe for gingerbread update???

That would make sense (no pun intended ). After all the two new flagship products by Sprint are the Nexus S and EVO 3D so they'll want to push Gingerbread as a feature on those phones before they upgrade the Shift. I doubt they'll update the original EVO though. But in the mean time there's always CM7 and the other 3rd party Gingerbread ROMs. :3

I'm pretty sure the EVO 3D will become the new flagship product when its released this summer and over shadow the popularity of the original EVO. Even if the whole 3D thing doesn't take off its still a superior design and you can bet Sprint will be pushing that fact.

There's no way that the EVO or EVO Shift won't receive @ least the next 2 O/S updates. The backlash that would result if it doesn't would be ridiculous, even by Sprint standards.

Thats what they said about the moment too and that didn't turn out well lol

Even the Moment got updated from 1.6 to 2.1. It really would be absurd for the Evo Shift to not at get at least one OS update.

I'm pretty sure the Shift will get the next update or 2 as it came out recently. The EVO has been around a while though and the EVO 3D looks as if its been purposely designed to be the original EVO's successor. From a business standpoint it doesn't make sense to continue long-term support for a device that has been replaced. Its with that in mind that I say I doubt the EVO will get Gingerbread.

The evo hasn't even been out for a year.... it makes sense to update products in order to keep current customers happy and willing to keep a contract with you.

I really doubt that the Evo Shift will get a major update anytime soon to Gingerbread 2.3.3 or something. But it makes me wonder what Google is going to do with their new Ice Cream Sandwich version that was mentioned at I/O

There is a leak in the dev section for 2.3.3 gingerbread with sense 2.1. Reupping now if you want to try. Not the first post, read the later ones for a flashable zip.

One o fthe things I dont get is why HTC uses some of their own apps, when the Google supplied ones are clearly much better - for example, Gallery versus HTC's Gallery.

Clearly to you. Many people disagree. I prefer Goog's but only because of Picasa integration.

Evo being discontinued

It has almost been a year since our wonderful phone was release does anyone know when it will be discontinued? If i so happen to drop it and need to take advantage of bestbuys plan I would like to get a new phone . I know that once it is discontinued that I can just get the MSRP for it and put that toward a new phone. Thanks Guys

I doubt that it will be anytime soon since Gingerbread is still in the works for our current Evos

That doesn't mean anything, as soon as the next best thing comes out the old ones are dropped fast. Phone companies are notorious for this.(Verizon is the big one) The Samsung Moment was EOL'ed, but still got updates. The Droid was EOL'ed as well but Motorola and Verizon still put out a Froyo update for it, and even replaced Droids that had the camera issue with Froyo with a Droid 2. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised of the Evo was EOL'ed sometime after the 3D's release.

The evo is still on backorder some places, I doubt they'll discontinue it for awhile

I think the thread title should be changed to "when will the EVO be discontinued."
The current thread title indicates or causes one to think that it has already been discontinued.

It'll be dropped to 150 after the 3d drops I bet.

So I finally went I get a replacement evo cause I broke mine and they said they dont have any evo's so I'm getting an evo 3d!! The only bad thing is I'm leaving the evo forum I've been here since launch day and it's been a nice ride guys!

Are they making you get another 2year contract or just giving it to u?

Welcome to no development. Evo 3D dev section is nothing but Sense and bugs. Only 2 aosp roms, cm7 and miui.

Charger port broke on my Evo earlier at work today, & I just filed a claim online, & Asurion are currently replacing OG Evos with 3D's, will have mines tomorrow

If this is the case I have full insurance I wouldn't mind breaking it but not sure I do love it and can't burn money hoping not to get flamed

Mines is from insurance since Sprint stores won't replace Evos with broken charger ports

My charging port has been loose & I've been putting off taking it in. I just might have to now. I didn't think that the 3D was worth the upgrade, but it's worth the replacement.
Worst case scenario is that I get another Evo, and that's all I need anyway.

Wow, sounds like a pretty kick ass deal. I was considering doing an insurance claim cause my power/unlock button kind of stopped working but it works now, kinda. Has a mind of its own, works sometimes and does work other times... I was wondering how they would be doing replacements since they stopped making the OG Evo. I also felt that the 3D was not worth the upgrade at all, but hell I would gladly take one to replace my old Evo. Only thing I would miss is the dev community and the stupid amount of choices we have as far as roms and mods lol. I think it is safe to say that no other android phone has a bigger dev community than the OG Evo.

My charging ports also been broken for a couple months I just haven't bothered to fix it. I have an external charger

That's exactly what I thought. I wasn't gonna use an upgrade on it but a trades totally worth it

I love my EVO too, but I wouldn't be that unhappy if I had to upgrade. I do enjoy being able to change ROMs whenever and to whatever I want basically, but I've tried AOSP, I've tried MIUI, and I keep coming back to Sense, so I'd probably just go to Eternity ROM on 3D and be done with it. I would still miss my EVO though.

honestly wait MWC is happening tomorrow and thats where HTC and other companies will be announcing all there new phones and youll see if sprint is getting any awesome phones

The last post has a point. If you need to be bleeding edge, just wait a few months. The SGS3 should drop this summer, and is expected to be sick.
Personally, I care about my tech...but also my wallet, so I opted for the SGS2. IMO you can't get much more bang for your buck ATM. That, and I'm not really hell-bent on 3D. I mean, seriously, when is having a 3D camera phone going to make a difference...aside from the first 2 weeks when you show it off to your friends to wow them. I think after a couple of weeks, the novelty will wear off.
I love my SGS2. Plenty of dev's ripping ICS and GB ROMs. Great screen. Lightning fast. Excellent camera. It's all around a great phone, and cost me <$400 without contract.

Yup, I agree. Most def wait it out a few months.

Also didnt sprint postpone the e4gt from getting an official ics do they could drop the nexus galaxy in the first quarter?

The offical ics for et4g is already leaked its still scheduled to be out by end of march i jusy switch to an et4g yesterday and upgraded my 2nd phone with the evo i gotta say the et4g is fast and makes the evo seem like an outdated piece of crap, even tho i still love my evo having my phone take 10 seconds to boot into everything working is rediculous i had to flash to the classic to reactivate the evo and waiting for it to boot was painful i could literally reboot the et4g 5 times while waitinf for the evo to boot once
