I am planning to travel to india and was wondering if i will be able to use my Acer with a USB Data Card for internet. It will be really helpful if someone can give me some advice or their exp on this ?

As I appear to have lost the wifi functionality on my Exec I am considering using one of the SD card Wifi adapters.
Does anyone have any experience of using these - either with an Exec or another device? I know it will be a nuisance swapping the SD card all the time, but it will at least give me my wifi back!
Any particular brands I should go for or avoid? Any information, help or guidance gratefully received.

Have you tried backing up your data and hard rebooting? Also if you're inclined to take you device apart, you could check for a loose connection for the wifi antenna. The service manual is on the ftp site, link is on the wiki site I believe.

i got a fancy device SHARP EM ONE(S01SH) into my hand recently. i'm really happy with this new gadget. its definitely better than my previous Jasjar isn't it?!
But now i got one hurdle which really puzzled me:
I just got the device but i don't have a e-mobile sim card, so Wifi or usb host is not enjoyable on this device. So i'm wondering if somebody is playing with this machine and is there any solution to hack it to enable Wifi and USB host?

don't understand your question. Why are you not able to switch on Wifi? Also, I have heard of people who use some prepaid sim-cards with it.

WIFI and USB function got locked if you don't have your simcard inserted into the device. I don't have the sim card....SO i wonder if anybody get any application to unlock this? to make wifi and usb function available even without inserting SIM card.
I believe you need a w-sim card or the hardware can't receive internet data. I don't know why the usb wont work. Maybe there's a hack for the USB but you're better off searching through Japanese websites.

I searched on jpanese google and yahoo japan but fruitless...this device has wifi embedded but without original sim card wifi funcation is not available...what i expect is to enble wifi function even withou sim card inserted. may be there some hack application?

My aunt just bring me a motorola xoom 3g from us.
I've a few questions.
1- as it's not 4g upgraded yet, may i use sim card for accessing 3g network or 2g gprs? Does device has hardware to handel sim card or after upgrade will become available?
2-i put my 8gb microsdhc card from my htc but nothing happens, isnt it working?
3- how can i root my xoom? I see a thread : "one click root for xoom" but file is not available for download.
4- may i use any carrier sim card?

Strongly recommend you review this site for this information. The SD card, and 4G slots is the #1 topic of discussion here.
In brief, the SD slot is NOT usable at this time. It will be in the future. Read some of the other threads about it. They will tell you what you need to know..
The Sim slot is NOT usable for 3G at this time. The sim slot is for a 4g accessable card. That is not yet available. It will be in the near future, but will require the device be returned to Motorola for configuration.
Again, read the forum, use the search feature. there is no lack of information on these 2 topics.
