Hi,
i recently received my transformer, and there seems to be some issues displaying Korean.
As you can see from the attachment, specific letters are being overlapped, making it almost impossible to read.
It happens in every app... dolphin HD, Gmail app, Stock, but I don't think it happens when I type.
What can I do?
thank you
Tell Asus. Send them a tweet and/or contact them on Facebook. I don't visit Korean sites a lot, but did test some out and see the same problem.
I just sent them a tweet. Hopefully they see it.

Thank you very much for the tweet!
I have also sent them an email about it... so hopefully they fix the issue.
I have also came across a thread about not being able to type in korean using the dock, has that been fixed?
Thanks again!
Opera mobile and firefox beta displaying korean fine... hmm.
But flash doesn't work well in opera or firefox...
Youtube main page says to install flash even though already installed... Some videos says it cannot be played on this device. But some play okay? weird.
That happens to me too. It seems to be the problem of the rendering engine of the default web browser. For me, the symptom happens when you type in an input form of a web page, but does not occur when you put words in, for example, the URL box. Also, it happens after a syllable block starting with 'ㅍ' or 'ㅎ'. Hopefully they can release a fix for this soon.
Btw, it's really good to see some Korean TF101 users... I never could find anyone in Korean forums.
it is pretty annoying that it can't display korean properly on apps...
Also glad to see a fellow Korean user of transformer
sam problem here..
Havebeen looking for asolution for almost an hour... nothing useful...
Mostly korean in apps r displayed fine but the problem is when it displayed on browser...
Fourtunately im not quite much using korean when doing some tasks on the tablet..
But itz so annoying. Hope asus provide some solution for this.
Try typing in "about:debug" without quote sin the URL and then going into Settings -> Debug and disabling wide view or opengl rendering (or both) and restart browser and see if it helps.
it does not work....

Asus replied my email.
He wrote just like this "close!"
My question was "do you have plan to fix this?"
What a polite answer!

3.1 didn't help resolve the annoying typing delay on this pad. I played with a Xoom and the small Samsung and it didn't have this problem.
Have there been any patches or fixes released? I was really hoping 3.1 would do it, but it didn't.
I also would love to get this. It's literally the ONLY issue I have with this device.
Didn't someone say turning off some option will help or switch to generic keyboard? I'm not really sure what the issue is, I don't think I've had it.
I noticed this problem pretty quickly and was very bothered by it. I tried out a couple different browsers and found that Opera was the only one with good keyboard responsiveness. While it may not be the best browser in other respects, it trumps all other browsers for this reason.
Now I wish there were an easy option to turn off tap-to-click. Damn thing throws me off everytime I type.
is this with the dock or the onscreen keyboard as well?

Yea, me too. It's pushing me to reconsider the Samsung 10.1.
I've only experienced typing lag on vBulletin based forums sites with the stock browser - and for example here on XDA if you choose the classic skin things improve quite a bit.
Its been mentioned many times before, that the "lag" isn't a "Transformer issue" per-se but a stock browser problem on certain sites. I've tried XDA with Firefox and Dolphin Mini and the there's no real lag that i can see, which further points to the stock browser..
Or are you guys experiencing lag on any web page with the stock browser?? (in which case I'll get my coat)
Try switching to the Honeycomb keyboard instead of the Asus keyboard.

Yes. The amount of lag may vary slightly between sites but it is still there and annoying. Dolphin made no difference for me. I've tested both the Xoom, Samsung and Acer in stores and they don't seem to have the problem.
The best test for A/B comparing purposes is to just type the numbers 1 thru 9 quickly and see what's left when you are done. For me when I'm done "7" is usually on the screen.
Try this temp fix
1. go to google.com
2. select settings in the upper right and click on search settings
3. disable google instant
This seems much better for me. Others may vary.

I've figured it out. It's a text box issue. Go into XDA forum settings. Change the text box to "simple "and skin to classic and enjoy lag free typing on this forum.
I'm pretty sure ASUS will post an update for this typing lag... althought typing lag has improved only slightly by changing user agent to Tablet (or to Android on dolphin browser)... will just have to be patient on the update

Makes no difference here (and of course it wouldn't help when using any other website that requires a typed response).

Been there, done that, no help.
I hate the responsiveness of the Asus keyboard, but the stock keyboard does a nice job. I wish the layout was better, but I will take the responsiveness of the stock keyboard over the layout of the Asus one with crappy responsiveness.

Both keyboards are the same for me. I just came back from the mall where I tested a Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab , T-Mobile G-Slate and iPad and none of them had any delay anywhere. I simply go to the forum, log in and type 123456789 in an empty reply to a message and see what's left when I am finished typing. The only problematic one seems to be the Asus.
U know what , out of the typing delay frustration i went on to try my most trusted browser for my froyo phone, miren and walla no lag in typing. But since miren is not build for honeycomb there are some fc here n there as expected. But the feature i love most, the smart full screen still works in honeycomb yay !!!
Part from that, it also doesnt have the image tearing issue when u scroll the browser quickly most probably related to hardware acceleration that is implemented on honeycomb browser.
Conclusion, the typing lag is definitely caused by the browser itself or even the webkit itself :-(
Too bad miren's developement stopped :-(
I think there's more than one "typing delay" issue here.
The one that I'm having 1) does not depend on which keyboard is used, and 2) is just as bad on Xoom. Just go to http://slashdot.org, open any story, and try to post a comment there - and watch characters you type being entered at like 1 per second...
I am typing this on the dolphin browser HD which has just been updated today. I am using Smart keyboard pro and cannot notice any lag. This reply is on the XDA 2010 theme.

I just tried downloading the free trial of Smart Keyboard Pro and keep getting "Purchase Cancelled, error processing purchase."
Hmmm, seems I can't download anything from the Market ... get the same error with Dolphin.
If you haven't already discovered it, you will be shocked to learn that if you use an apostrophe in a reply email, it will be converted into HTML code before being sent. In other words....
This: I don't know
Becomes this: I don't know
It's a small bug but it makes most emails in the English language look like a mess.
Apparently it's being linked to Honeycomb 3.1 and not the tablet itself. You can read the Google posting about the issue here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16873&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars
In order to expedite a fix, it would probably be helpful if you contact Samsung and report the problem. The more of us that do so, the more seriously they will take the need for a fix and hopefully work with Google to get it out.
I went to Samsung's support and used their CHAT LIVE feature to do it. If you have 10 minutes, head over there and let them know. When I did it, they had no idea the problem existed!
Samsung Support: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/
Go through the menus to select your tablet then the next screen will have a LIVE CHAT option on the right.
----
Until then, send your email as text only if you can figure that out or stop using apostrophes.
lol so THAT'S why it looked like no one here knows how to type. I don't believe it has happened to any of my posts on here but i'm not sure. I might have been too lazy to use any punctuation while typing on my tab
Thanks! I noticed this on my Acer A500 (Honeycomb 3.1) and was going crazy trying to figure out what exactly was causing it. You just saved me hours of head-banging the desk.
EDIT: Looks like it was fixed in the 3.2 update (so c'mon Samsung, Acer, Asus, etc... give us an update).
As i say in the title, after the last update i have an issue with the browser and i can see many websites in mobile mode only. In the settings i have (as usual) user agent = desktop !
I have :
1) cleared the cache
2) done a cold boot
3) changed user agent in mobile mode - reboot - changed again in dektop mode - reboot
but without a positive result -_-
Please tell me anything i can do. Thanks.
P.S.
I'm not the only one with this issue, according with comments seen in some blog...
Same here
:/
But where is or when come out the solution ?
Asus knows this issue ?
The only solution I have had is to switch browsers. I find that one must have the stock browser as well as Opera and Dolphin, at a minimum. Each one seems to see the same site in different ways
Same here. Browser in general seems less buggy and much faster but many websites, such as the Gawker family, seem to be trying to force mobile no matter what now. In fact setting user agent to tablet seems to fix this for some sites while desktop works for others or neither work.
Same here too. It's very annoying and I don't see any improvement in the stock browser. Still loads web pages slowly and I can still see blocks when scrolling on some sites.
Otherwise SuperNote is nice but it's not enough to make the update worthy.
I agree Nikola ! Browser is same as before but with this issue.
I use Maxthon browser for now...i hope this bug will be solved sooooon.
How the hell is it that Google, the author of the best browser around (Chrome), can screw up the Android built-in browser so bad?!!?!??!
Geez - as hard as I tried, I just cannot use it as my default browser any more... Back to Dolphin!
I accidently found a fix by flashing the Circle battery/Xoom button file.
I have this problem with dolphon

Thanks for posting this. I mentioned it the FW threads but it probably got buried. I have been having the same problem with no fix in sight. NYtimes.com just won't force to desktop mode, and neither does Google! Using Opera for now...
IF I'm not mistaken, both google and NY Times have an option within the web page for desktop version. If it's there it will be in tiny font

Google has, but NY Times does not.
For NY Times (international access) the quickest way is to select the "Site help" link and from that page the "Go to home page". That brings up the desktop view of the home page.
Too bad we have to apply all sort of tricks when it's Google that didn't test enough before releasing updates to the browser.

Right...however NY Times opens in the desktop version on both Opera and Dolphin
If you are fortunate enough to have rooted your Transformer then you can apply my fix that I posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18053134&postcount=469
For Users that do not have root, given that Asus added the new user-agent url lookup thing then I hops they will soon do something on their server so that the Desktop setting brings up Normal web pages and not mobile ones.
I see NYT in full without any tricks. Some sites were pushing mobile versions, but after finding link for full version on each one everything is fine.
However, new browser brings drop down button with back/forth/reload buttons, so you don't need to scroll from bottom to top for them. Big thing. Also I found option for openning new tab in background, although I am not sure if it was there before.
What I need (besides more speed) is back/forth history on long press, so I can jump several pages. And a spell checker.
I would also like content of browser to be preserved in memory when I am using another application. Android is too aggresive in clearing memmory, flushing to storage should be used.
Thanks Roach, you are indispensable.
Then a new firmware is not needed because, as noticed, sometime a website goes on mobile mode and sometime goes on desktop mode.
Right ?

Dolphin have user agent switch, change from Dolphin to Desktop.
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
That doesn't work for me in Dolphin. Got agent set to desktop but still some sites are shown as mobile, e.g. engadget.com.
I ROMmed my TF101 as soon as I got it, so I cant comment on if it did it before, but now, regardless of the ROM (revolver/krakd), pretty much any browser will randomly crash while Im browsing.
Is this normal?
Mine did this stock, and still does on all roms. No its not normal. I'm guessing its a bug in honeycomb.
Scribed in blood using XDA Premium
same thing happens to me and on my samsung captivate too. interesting...
Try clearing cache and history in whatever browser is malfunctioning
Same here
doesnt bother me though
Yup...not often...but it happens...can't wait to see how stable ICS is when it gets here.
Swyped using my Pinky
Thats why ICS is essential and i have not opened, better statement,i refuse to open my transformer from early december...
the browsers in Honeycomb is a JOKE.
crashing all the time, i have used 10 browsers and they do the same quite often.
imagine writing a long forum post...the nerves...
generally honeycomb is so bad,it is unbearable.
lets see how ICS will be...
Dolphin for pad and firefox have given me the least grief but as everyone else says hopefully ics will make browsing better if it does my browser list may change again but at the moment i dont even have stock deleted it because its that bad!!!!!!!!!

i forgot where i read this, but there's a way to stop, or at least reduce the browser crashes. In the address bar, type in "about:debug" without the quotations and press enter. then go to settings in the browser, and select "debug" from on the side. Uncheck everything except "show debug console." That's it.
EDIT: found the site. actually, it says you only have to uncheck "Enable OpenGL Rendering," but if that doesn't work, then just follow what i wrote above. http://smartadopter.wordpress.com/2011/05/22/tip-improve-honeycomb-browser-speed/

It seems like this needs reapplying after updates, as well, as it gets reenabled eventually. (Or did for me.)
Boat browser could be the answer
I olso had problems with slow connektion, forceclose and no responding with Asus and dolphin and other browsers.I have playede with Android since the first HTC Hero and have tryed all browseres out there.. I realy like Dolphin. but it is slow. and just stop and forceclose without reason with my Tranformer.
Then someone in a Android forum in December toll, that "Boat browser" was very fast and without noticible bugs. After 2 month use I can tell that im totaly agree !
Boat browser is my first browser choice, and today I only use Dolphin when I need Google translate (as a plug-in)
Go and try Boat with our Transformer, I think, that you realy will like the speed and stability. Writing in forums is olso much better then the original and Dolphin browser- still not perfect... but better... I hope that ICS will fix this problem.
There is a secondbrowser from Boat callede Mini, but Im not sure where difference is...
Sure, Boat is very fast and users are giving it amazing 4.5 (!) total in Market, but it olso need more like plug-ins. The firm behind said that they will give us the option soon.

Hey, I just recently bought an hd2 and I flashed cm9 nexus from on here and so far its been absolutely great, but all of a sudden I noticed this " " popping up all over the browser and it will cover up text, or be written over links pictures everything. Try to update the browser, or download another( there are a lot of better ones out there). It did the trick for me.
If that didn't solve it, maybe the web page was the problem... Do you see it on every page?
