Grey or White? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I was not sold originally on the WHITE back, but it seems to be growing on me a bit.
The grey backed units just don't look appealing to me.
Which way are you leaning??
(sorry for fat finger spelling on poll option )

The white is growing on me, too. The grey looks more solid with it's brushed metal look but the gloss white along with the black on the front reminds me of a classy piano.

White is nice but grey is tough. I like the grey

you guys should all get the white... so i can be assured to get the grey version in stock come june 8th!

I have an IO tab, but im really liking the Grey one. I'm partial to it cause it would or should rather be cooler cuz of the material along with not feeling as cheap as the plastic back.
Uplinked through my mind

White but then I would say that.

I have the Galaxy Tab 7 with a white back, and I was originally thinking of getting the white back so that it would match my old Tab, but after seeing the metallic grey back, I'm really leaning toward buying the grey. I guess I'll make my final decision on the 8th at the store.

Honestly at this point i could care the least.
I got both grey and white pre-ordered so i will take the one that's available first.
On that big surface i would prefer grey rather than white.

Think the grey will stay looking good over time, while the white might be hard to keep clean looking.

Is there really no black???

i only had the option of brown when i ordered, but seeing the black ones, im glad i got brown. it matches my lighter perfectly LOL
black all the way! white will get dirty all the time and you will have to clean it all the time... and the brown one looks like poop. LOL!

I really wanted black but I ordered brown since it was the only one available to me. I got it yesterday and I'm glad I got brown. Its sexy looking.
I ordered the black one. Can't wait til it comes!
Is it that same coppery-brownish color of the T-Mobile Shadow? I had one of those, that was a nice color...

im on an employee acct and in order to receive one early brown was the only color available, however it doesnt look to bad its a dark brown cant really tell until you get up close
bronze(brown) definitely has an appealing color and now i'm wondering if i should have ordered black.....I want a side by side comparison of all 3 colors
I have a black toothbrush, does that give it away? lol
Haha black all the way... looks much cleaner...
Yeah it does and hides the blemishes on phone better
If I have the option, I only get two kinds of devices: Black or Silver.
Bronze/brown doesn't sound good to me, and white always looks like it was made by Fisher-Price. I choose black because:
-It doesn't show dirt as easily
-It goes with everything, black never goes out of style, while other colors do.
-It doesn't draw attention to itself
-It's easy on the eyes
-Black doesn't fade or start to yellow over time
I was an employee upgrade so I only had brown to choose from..I wanted black but the brown actually looks great. Mine comes this thursday and I cant wait!
Hate brown, went for black!
Black, brown is hard to see the.keypad!!
LOL! talk about a bump.. way to resurrect a thread that's over a year old!! gj
I totally agree tho. originally got brown on release date last year... within 14 days it was put into paper weight mode lol. returned it for the black one and have been happier ever since..
What's a bum?
bump* it's when you bring a thread that's fallen down a page or two back to the first page by posting in it, "bump" it back to the top

[Q] Metallic gray vs white

Has anyone noticed a difference in weight between the gray and white version? I swapped my white this morning (which ive been playing with since release) for the gray, and for some reason the gray feels heavier.
Maybe just placebo...and i probably wouldnt exchange it if it were a little heavier. the gray feels and looks like a more premium product in my opinion.
Good to join the community.
Colour is colour..no difference.
I noticed I couldn't lift the white backed one as high... Probably because it was so ugly I felt ashamed somebody might see it.
The grey one is definitely easier to hold.... atleast for vanity's sake.

Note--> Black or White?

Hi all,
I'm still trying to decide which colour to get. I have never had a White phone before, and think the white looks good. But I have heard that White can get dirty easier and screen would also look less vibrant.
So...what do you guys think? Which colour will you get if you can be bothered to wait for the white.
I had a white Blackberry for a bit, I liked it for a month then the colour start to bother me for some unknow reason, maybe because it doesn't match with my other gears.
Go for white if you want your Note to stand out and maybe have a slightly better resell value. But you can't go wrong with black, it's a classic colour.
I haven't seen either one in the flesh, but I quite fancy the look of the white one on the web. However, price and supply have dictated that I get the black one. No big deal either way for me.
If it helps, Apple seem to have plenty of white versions of their products - iPad, old Macbook, iPhone, iPod and lots of accessories and I've not seen anyone grumble that it started to look dirty.
If I could stand the wait I would probably get the white. It looks pretty amazing when I see it in a video online. I have seen a white S2 in person and they look beautiful.
My order is in for the black, can always order both and sell the black when the white comes in
Black looks better imho. Now where is my shipping notification...
let me vote for a white one ^_^
I bought a white iPad 2. I had to return it, it was honestly distracting doing anything but reading a bright white webpage. I don't think i'll get another white device again.
Ask any one involved in the clothing trade and they'll tell you white makes you look bigger. The Note already looks big enough.
The cover for a white Note would also need to be white in order to match and it would soon look dirty, especially if it was made of leather. So for that reason alone I would prefer black.
Black is better for images and movies, white would stand out too much, with everything black it will blend in.
It's like having a white tv, wtf who would want a white tv? My vote goes for black!
I'm aiming to get black
I got a white Ipad as a birthday prezzie
(still sulking over the colour)
on the ipad white any, dust/fluff seems to be very noticeable

I would sulk at the fact it's an ipad, not that it's white in colour!!
Their too big and overpriced for what they are, they're more suited for movies/gaming/entertainment than a phone or business use...
Are you a woman? If not, get a black. Like a real man.
White note male owners need not reply and defend. We accept you just the way you are...

Got my Note in white and I love the way it looks. It doesn't get dirty, no more so than my black Galaxy S2 did. Everyone that's seen it falls in love with the way it looks.

So. Black or white?

Hey guys,
Not trolling here, as I'm betting this topic has been beaten to death 6 pages down the forum, but it still puzzles me greatly.
Black or white?
To my eye, black is more sleek and serious, white (silver) is more fancy. How are your experiences in terms of build quality of both? Is it true that black smudges with fingerprints easily, and how view-able are they? Scratch/chip wise, how do both phones behave?
Any honest opinion, I would kill for. Thanks for your time lads.
Think of it like a car. White cars you have a tough time see scratches, but you can tell when it's dirty quicker. Black is the opposite.
i started off determined i wanted black, as I've been using a white SGS3 and I hate the white look in general, but I went to the store to see what it was like in person and it was nothing like I imagined. The black is very matte and not a deep black like i expected. The white (actually silver) on the other hand looks much better in person IMHO.
All in all, you really need to see the product yourself to decide. My Best Buy had both on display for me to check out. As someone who enjoyed the iphone 5 in black, the htc one's black model does not resemble it much at all and ends up looking a little bit cheaper to me. I'm going to end up getting the silver model.
silver color is good...
the metal underneath both finishes is silver. if you nick the black finish you will see silver. if you nick the silver finish, you will see more silver. which situation is more noticeable?
personally i believe a) if you could somehow keep your phone from getting dinged, black looks cool (even if it is more of a charcoal gray and not exactly black) and b) putting a great-looking and -feeling phone in a case is a waste of good design unless you expect to drop your phone at some point and/or care about resale value. (and besides if you have a case on your phone, the case obscures much of the phone's original finish anyway.)
because i am a) pretty sure my phone will experience a little wear and tear and yet b) i would prefer to use it without a case, i am guessing silver will make me happier in the long run even if black seems slightly more appealing now. and i mean *slightly* : honestly , both look good.
oh and it's not clear if the developer edition will ever come in black. HTC is saying no for now. not sure what to expect later on though.
black one gonna give lots of residual + finger prints in future usage. U will notice it really much, but if you going to get the case doesn't matter, silver looks more stylish and appealing high end device in your hand.
I have the black One and I am very happy about it. Had it 10 days now and only one tiny noticeable scratch at the top edge. Very very small one and easily covered by a black marker.
I have to day, I don't regret getting the black at all, it's so cool and stylish IMHO. It does attract more fingerprints but wipe it wit.your cloth easily clean it, I was a bit worried but not anymore since I.actually got the phone.
Of course, I don't abuse my phone, but don't avoid using it, it's always naked in my.pocket alone.
Oh, the back is quite durable I dropped it from knee high and.it landed on the back on wood floor, not a single mark.
Silver, ive had black phones all my life, its time for a change
i have a black car too..
I went for Silver too, never been a big fan of black phones. Or white ones, for that matter! really like the brown Galaxy S3 my girlfriend uses, and my old Desire HD had a bit do a brownish tint to it. Only had my silver One for a couple of hours so far, but it's stunning - very happy with it and it frames the display nicely. one day when we have true edge-to-edge displays then black would look amazing, but until then I think I'd prefer a silver, grey or brown.
flip a coin, heads white, tails black... but honestly if you flip the coin you will realize what color you want while the coin is spinning in mid air.

Or confuse yourself even more that's what happened to me when I was deciding... I took the black simply because another colleague in my company got a silver and I wanted to be different! It turns out to be a good choice.

I actually had chance to go back, switch to a silver One while I was still in the first 7 days after received the phone feared it may chip. But I stayed because my normal usage will not worsen the casing,

Color Decisions - Black Moon Vs. Pure White

I thought this thread may be helpful now that there are actually two available colors out there in the wild.
I was able to test drive out the Black Moon version for awhile and found it beautiful.
An INCREDIBLE fingerprint magnet, but very slick.
All of the tear down & torture videos show that the black finish can shed/scrape off leaving silver blemishes. This has me thinking about Pure White.
For the record, the last white phone I had was the iPhone 3GS. It was pretty good at keeping those pesky fingerprint smudges at bay, especially compared to the black 3GS, but nothing perfect.
To be honest, for me at least, I feel that most White phones come off as cheap or just not done right. I guess the best white phone since was the Galaxy S6 Pearl White. Although, I would rather use any other phone to get away from Samsung and Touchwiz or whatever they call it now. (Lipstick on a pig)
Here's the rub. When compared to the market patterns for my taste, Essential seems to have pulled white off in a way that looks business classy.
I honestly actually leaning towards white. I have yet to be able to hold or see it in person and know some of you have.
What could you share with anyone in this position.?
I know I cant be alone as a person that only buys black phones because other variants are just too tacky.
There are even some of you out there that have had both! True hardcore Essential fans.
Please share impressions with us after using it for awhile compared to Black Moon.
(Oceans Depth)
Let me address this before it comes up.
I just can't do gold. It's just has never been my thing.
I applaud Essential for taking color seriously with Oceans Depth, but they just had to trim it in gold. (Rats!!!) For those of you like my son that love gold, it absolutely a knockout of a device color and one of a kind.
I have the white one and looks good in my opinion. Keeps the fingerprint at bay and I am sure it will hide all the scratches as well since it is not that reflective like the black color. The only issues i have seen so far is what I ave listed in another thread -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74442626&postcount=3
