[FIX]:Avoid Android OS Battery Drain Using GB !! - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello All
There is a simple FIX that i can provide you to avoid the Android OS battery drain if you are on GingerBread.
Please use the Latest FUGUMOD Kernel (Version 4 or greater) and your battery drain will vanish. Before flashing the Fugumod Kernel, please make sure that you do READ READ AND READ the thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812836
The latest kernel is build on newest source and has been tested by many users on XDA and none have so far suggested that the BUG has reappeared after testing it for so many hours. May be themakers of the other custome kernels can implement the latest kernel source to see the results.
Thank you!

Thanks for sharing..
Will try it now

Well, i can say the same. I am on fugu 4 bleeding edge since yesterday and the battery drain bug is gone, even on playing games.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

i can confirm that too.. i have been using fugumod since the 3.8 version and with the 4.0v and bleeding edge the bug is gone for JVH and JVO so far..
Ps. i know its not related to the topic but which rom fo you prefer to use with fugumod 4.0? i am trying to decide between JVH and JVO which are same except their zimage and factory.rfs files..

not for everybody =)
Wow. Flashed bleeding edge ultra 1 .5 hours ago. Battery went from 73% to 9! Ha. Not even used It. Think I will stick with stable
Galaxy S - no point in writing rom or kernel constantly changing!

Ok, i am on BE 4 and the battery bug is gone. One more point- if you restore your app+data using titanium , you may see the bug, therefore it is recommended that you restore the app only and perform wipe of whatever rom you are installing. I am running fugumod for 80+ hours and i have not seen the bug at all
I tried Maps, played angry birds, asphalt , ran layers for 2+ hours and the bug did not appreared for me atleast.

thank god youve achived what ive got from first gingerbreak leak =)

I have just flashed SH3.6 and change the kernel to FuguMod
Android OS problem same appear again..
Dunno why

did u perform the battery calibration?

I had 100% battery after i unplug usb cable

What is the deal with the battery draining? How many of you with battery draining are running on stock Kernel?
I keep reading about it but so far I only read that there is a problem and no one writes when and after which application is used does it happen and which Kernel they are running.
You will no reach far this way, you need to see what is common when the problem is there so you can eliminate assumptions.

wondering if you drainers have somethin like this in logcat every 5 seconds =)

Indroid was the 1st custom rom i flashed on my G3. Before this I was very new to all these. I am only waiting for a simple way to partition and use Indriod FSC then I will post in this thread some troubleshoot for newbies which I felt during Indroid ROM flashing. hope that will make life easier for those who want to flash it but worried about errors.
Can i overclock my indroid 4.2 ?? And are there some risks? will my telephone die?

Will check on this and see if anything can be done..
Btw you can also reduce system sound with the volume key on the left side right? Doesn't that work?

you haven't partition'd yet?
Use minitool and partition your sd..I could make a video on using ext4 as data on indroid if you want me to?
I'd show from start in the video if you'll want it.
And Indroid FSC is used after making an ext partition on sd not before.

ok i will when i get time..
I installed indroid 4.2. Everything seems to work, except the gps and usb-connection.
It takes a very long time to get a fix on gps. When i finally get get a fix and i give a location in google navigation, it crashes.
About the usb-connection, the first time i connected to my pc, it worked. But after that, it doesn't work anymore. When i connect my sg3 to my pc, it thrils ones and that's it.
Any ideas?

as of now its just over clocked to 800Mhz so i recommended to stick with 667Mhz version ie standard version.
3d gallery not working?
If you have updated the kernel to beta 3 then stick to it no need to reflash

Post the battery backup SCREENSHOTS... Bcoz ACE sucks out battery to the core... So how much hour u got the backup??
I read here on XDA that Lagree v3 8.5 and turbo boost were partially in conflict and that the cause of major problems were attributable to Lagfree that the third version had some problems (in fact it has been granted an alternative version to solve problems) .

Well I am personally using this ROM and had no problem till now. I too herd about these bugs but never found personally so added them. I will definitely take a look on the users using this ROM and their opinion on the same. If they find it buggy then will definitely change in upcoming version/update!

LagfreeV3 is broken so never loads completely, all you are doing is wasting startup time using it. TB 8.5 is better written, but can install a broken version of sqlite3, breaking the command-line sqlite3 engine, so make sure you don't use the cwm zip but manually just install the scripts. LagfreeV3 has been fixed and optimised by g_BonE -- use that version if you are still desperate to put that script at least, but honestly if you take pride in your work, don't include broken scripts in your ROM (lots of ROM cookers here just include them because everyone else does, even though they are broken!)...

nope! it's not a bug. Actually when you get connected to internet via wifi/packet data the signal bars turns into blue to show the connectivity means you are connected successfully to the internet! I think it's the nice thing though!

Thanks a lot mate. I just want to know what exactly v3 gives errors? Because it's my 3rd day on this ROM and still no bugs.. I do heard about it's a buggy but never had any experience. Your help is much appreciated. I will definitely update my ROM if I get to know what are the actual bugs. Waiting for your reply!
LagfreeV3 doesn't make your phone buggy, but it will make your phone slower, trying to start a script that never starts and loop all the time, lol

From my understanding, a lot of the fixes implemented in lagfree v3 were redundancies and placebos. Gbone took what was beneficial and hashed out the redundancies creating a script that did something. Afaik, his script had a few problems due to the amount of lines on it that could boot creating a boot loop. Haven't followed it much but that's what I got out of it.
Disclaimer: my post is opinion, not fact.

LOL!! not standby actually but you can say it's what I use my phone daily. Attached latest screenshots. My phone is always connected to my wifi network. I do chat on sms, wats app. Do and attend some calls daily. Hardly play games (not more that half hour and yes this consumes lot battery). Maybe "deep sleep" is the key to save the battery. Well maybe in your point I am a less mobile user because don't know how much others use but the battery is sufficient for users like me. The screenshots shows 17h backup and still 60% battery remaining. So maybe I can expect another 15-16 hrs.

Battery...

Hello,
After I installed ICS (JB or Stock) a had the problem, that the tab took about 80mA - 190mA from the Battery.
I'm monitoring the Battery from my HC 3.2 Overcome, and there the drain was about 20 - 30mA. So I'm not
happy with this Situation.
Then i tried the CM9 experimental from pershoot. And there i have the same low drain from about 20-30mA.
Now i want to know, why in Stock ICS the drain is 3-4 times higher than in CM9?
Can anyybody give me a hint about it.
I've tried it with a clean install, where i really only installed the battery monitor....

it seems like a kernel issue on stock ics , it keeps searching for signal even if airplane mode is on !
what i did is i installed the stock ROM then i installed a1 kernel over the stock one ..
it seems like the problem is fixed for me
Hi,
thx for your answer, but i already installed aa's kernel.
i tried from 1.59 til 1.7.
now i've 1.64 but no luck....

I think you use Stock Rom "XXLQ8" - italian ics??!!
If the answer is yes, the problem happens with me with this rom even with A! kernel.
I fix it by these steps:
1- Backup all your data....
2- Downlaod "JellyBeanRom ICS v6" from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813651&highlight=battery
3- Make a full wipe.
4- Falsh the "JellyBeanRom ICS v6" as Thread steps.
5- After the tab restart and finshing falshng rom, go to bootloader and make "Wipe Battery State"
6- I hope everthing is fine now.
Or try to flash another stock Rom ver with "Full Wipe Data & system"
This is my personal experience with this issue, and this is the solution that saved me
In CPU spy you will notice that the tab doesn't go to deep sleep for long periods on ics. If you have betterbatterystats installed you will notice that this is caused by a kernel wakelock 'l2_hsic'.
I reverted back to hc3.2 overcome because I couldn't find a fix for the wakelock. But ever since calling was enabled on ics I flashed back for this mod.
I am on stock rooted Italian 4.0.4 and only installed A1 yesterday and have had mixed results so far. If it continues I will probably try V6.

i've tried all "battery drain" fixes that are here reported.
Also clean installs and so on.
I think that sxi200 is right,
because i had also the wakelock "l2_hsic"
but i don't know what causes this wakelock btw. how to remove it.

i think that's very strange....
Well maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. I flashed Toldo's JellyBeanRom ICS V6 XWLP5 which has A1 kernal and haven't had the l2_hsic wakelock since.
I flashed straight over stock ICS without wiping and haven't had a singe problem. Tab now sleeps like a baby. Will keep my eyes on it to make sure.

it seems like a kernel issue on stock ics , it keeps searching for signal even if airplane mode is on !
what i did is i installed the stock ROM then i installed a1 kernel over the stock one ..
it seems like the problem is fixed for me

Same here.
Flashed ital. ics over p7501 stock hc. Performance was quite nice, huge step foreward but battery drain went up to a couple of percentages per hour in the wannabe sleep mode. I took a look at it with cpu spy and the result was nearly no deep sleep! Even if my tab wasn't in use for the whole night ( only wifi turned on ) the cpu frequency stayed at 216 MHz. This results in a non usable tab for me because i wasn't able to use it a whole day at university without recharging!!
Yesterday evening I flashed A1's 1.7 Kernel over stock ital. ics and woooohooooo more than 6 hours of deep sleep last night (even though more than I had...) and battery only goes down 2 percent within this time.
From today I can tell that deep sleep works perfect until now for the periods of non usage.
BTW: A1 Kernel also solved my problem with flickering HDMI output on my TV!! Thats amazing but I'm going to post this in the seperate thread as well now.
Maybe someone could do me a favour and quote this in the official A1 thread in the developers section because due to the "10 posts rule" I am not allowed to do so..:crying:

Possible Temporary Solutions for Merruk 2.5 problems with JellyBlast ROM

The users of JellyBlast have faced some problems with Merruk Kernel..I personally have faced these--
1. The Boot-Sound comes first at the Galaxy Y boot-logo..After playing it, comes the Boot-Animation.
2. Random-Reboot issue-Phone reboots 2-3 times a day!
3. Auto-Close and freeze on some browser. e.g.: Opera Mobile.
I increased the RAM with Swap-Partition and increased the Internal Memory with Link2SD and Partition-Problems 2 & 3 were gone-Believe me, my phone didn't at all reboot for 5 days
Another thing, you can try is keep the phone using all the time, i.e. you have to play or browse the phone all the time, press menu and back again..Keep doing it...Or better keep it connected to computer or charger..Before doing the partition procedure I tried these and it worked..The Phone doesn't reboot when it is kept connected to something..Above all, avoid keeping the phone in Deep Sleep
And another, keep the min. Frequency at 832 MHz and max. at 1.248 GHz..Thanks to Sir anmolsharma1293 for helping me!
Included with help from Sir Anmol Sharma(Thank you Sir ) : FOR THE RANDOM REBOOT ISSUE, KEEP THE GOVERNOR AS 'lionheart' AND i/o AS 'sio'......
Try these and reply if it works...

Bro the 1st & 2nd problems r kernel related and random reboot issue has already been solved....
We hv found a temporary solution for it already.....
And the boot animation thing is not a big issue.....
And my personal preference is
Min-312 max-1248 gov-lionheart
I/o-sio or cfq....and no random reboots....
Wait for the upcoming stable final version.....

@Sir Anmol Sharma, where is the solution posted, which section??
And, will there be a Stable Version following? I'm waiting for it eagerly
Okay, shall I edit and post it in my post then? A recent post would help the newbies like me and there hasn't been any post about the sloution yet..
And, could you please name the devs who figured out the solution..I will thank them in my post too

Benchmarks don't mean anything they never give a accurate representation of what a phone will perform like in real world terms so don't worry about that

Sir i flashed jbv3 but the problem still exists.
When u flash merruk's mt2.5 , ur ram and phone memory decreased. Its not the fault of ur rom. Its because of the change from rfs to ext4

Important Discovery for Batery Management - 36 to 48 hours

Hy guys.
I want to give you a very important feedback regarding the ROM Omega - v59. The new version from Indie, Omega v59 is consuming very little power but in a strange way that was discovered by chance and now confirmed by Indie - the developer.
Omega v59 was installed after i flashed another ROM (glamourS4N3finalv4.zip)
Steps:
Download bothe roms:
- Glamour S4N3finalv4.zip - from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-glamours5-s3-touch-s5-version-7-0-t2258723
- Omega v59 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-omega-v58v50-14-34-1-2omega-t1663656
put them on SD card or External
1. Format and wipe all, then (you know the procedures, or read in the instructions of each ROM) install glamourS4N3finalv4.zip
and then
2. Flash Omega v59
and voila...you have battery for at least 36-48 hours with all functions 3g and all.
You may turn useless function for better results...there are threads for that.
I do not know how this is possible because I am no programer specialist but you can check for yourself.
I guess that you look into details and see if you can make more guys happy like me.

- wipe dalvik cache, cache, data
- Install Glamour S4N3finalv4.zip (S4N3finalv5 is newer should this work too? Its based on MK6 too)
- wipe cache, dalvik cache
- install Omega v59 (the newest)
- Reboot

I am not kidding, you can ask even the Developer of Omega - Indie that can confirm this.
I did not turn off the wi/fi or 3g internet and did not used 2g instead.
I repeat, I do not understand how is this possible. It was a fluke.
Enjoy
