I'm unable to play videos, I have added realplayer but doesn't work. My HTC Inspire 4g with realplayer will play videos fine but my Transformer won't. Any ideas?
all depends on which type of videos you're trying to play i suppose.... moboplayer (free on market) plays anything i throw at it.
It was just an avi file.
right, but an AVI is just a container... could be one of a large number of different codecs.
try moboplayer and see if that video will play.

Will do! Thanks!
RockPlayer also does a good job if MoboPlayer is not to your liking...
Moboplayer is awesome it works!

Thanks in advance.

without knowing the codec of the other video I can't help you, .avi doesnt't tell me anything, that's just the container, download mediainfo and paste the info it gives you from the video file
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
give it a try using rockplayer, it should be able to play anything that the stock player can't.

Rockplayer in the market.
Use handbrake to convert to mpeg4 or h264 and theres a great thread in here on how to do this.

Dude, make your life simple, go to the market and download Rock player. It is open source and it is based on ffmpeg. It can play virtually everything. I am currently playing Mkv files on my Vibrant. ;-P

Hi guys, I have some questions about DLNA on GalaxyS.
I have the device that you can find in my signature.
I use the DLNA withTv-out to see films on my 37'' FullHd Tv, but I noticed some problems, hope that you can help me to solve them.
The player does not open MKV files.
The player does not keep the aspect ratio of the films. 16:9 videos have no problems, but the 2.39.1 (2.40) movies are distorted
If these problems can't be solved with the standard player (there aren't aspect ratio options, instead the classic video player of the SGS) there are better players that can replace the standard one?
Thanks
I think these are the very annoying limitations of dlna. You have to use avi afaik, i'm not sure about mp4 though.

Uhm, i don't understand what is "avi afaik". Should i convert the mkv films?
afaik - as far as I know
avi is container for audio video, like mkv

Aaaah sorry
DLNA supports all kind of codecs under avi (divx, mpeg4, etc) but not MKV.
I think that there is no solution about this problem

Actually I think it is a limitation of the tv set. Because the other day I went to bestbuy infront of the television section. Fired up dlna and found tons of tv sets there to use it with.
Long story short I had a 720 mkv video of tottenham vs real madrid and was able to play it on a LG tv. As a matter of fact everything was able to play on the lg tv. But on samsung only avi's was allowed to play video.
Has anyone ran across an app for. Avi playback..

That would I also like to know.
Edit: Mostly for the .sub files. I have tried Mobo, Rock, QQ, and Vitalplayer and none of them supports .sub files as far as I can see.
I use rockplayer for my series n movies, srt files are working well.
Yes +1 for the mobo player.
I use dvd Fab for all my movies,it also gives you the option to hard encode subtitles in the movie file.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
I can confirm Moboplayer supports SRT subtitles. As best I can tell, it looks at your video's filename, and then looks for the same filename except ending in .SRT. ALL CAPS file extention was the only way I could get it to work. Good luck!

Try Mx player from market. It has an option to play in full screen and also to employ hardware acceleration /software acceleration.

mx video player. Avi file with srt greek subs. works perfect.
another person for mx player
I've tried about every player available -- BSPlyer Lite, VPlayer, MoboPlayer. MX Player is all around the best - the only player that streams avi movies from SMB share (used with FS File Explorer). I also like MoboPlayer.
I believe the best player for Tegra 2 is DicePlayer - paid ARM 7. It sucks that the paid version is not available and who knows, may never be available from Android Market. VLC is still in beta - looking forward to that one!
Does anyone know what's going on with Dice? Seems like they pissed someone at Google off...
+1 to MX Player, plays everything I have thrown at it, if not in H/W then in S/W mode. Loads subs, dims buttons and resumes play even from LAN.
Guys this thing is intriguing me, i cant natively play divx avi files? My LG 2X does it, how come my tablet with an huge screen don't?
I managed to get it software rendered with VitalPlayer but damn!

Another thing you could do which some people have tried is to change the file extension to mp4, which will play with the native player. I think DivX is just a 'container' format which contains MP4 video so it should work in theory, although I haven't tried this on my TF myself.

Tried that, wirh this video specifically it plays the first 3 seconds insanely fast and with no audio and then finally stops playing.

plenty of players out there for DIVX/XVID. I think some manufacturers just bundle extra players or codecs. i dont think support is in 'native' Android.

+1 Rockplayer. They just had a release solving Android 3.1 registration issues, works like a champ!
I'd go with MoboPlayer.
Interesting to know as am planning on picking up a Transformer and wanted to know this myself.

Can anyone test an divx 1080p video? Being software rendered I'm kinda not much confident, i feel it as a workaround rather than a solution...

1080p video encoded using the DivX (or XviD) codec is really inefficient. It's going to be a lot larger file size or of lower quality than a more modern codec like h.264. If you'd like to play 1080p video on your transformer, you'd be best to transcode your video to an h.264 video stream. Not only will the file size be much smaller, but it will play back using hardware acceleration which is much more likely to be smooth than software rendered DivX.
Rockplayer, Moboplayer, etc are all the same thing. They're just containers for ffmpeg--which is the best free software decoder available. Pick the one that has the best interface and is free. Paying for any of these is actually against the law, and while you're not going to get in any trouble, it's stupid to pay for something that should be free.

Hi,
In my phone i have MX Player, Real Player, Zimly, Mobo Player and Easy Video player. But any one of the above are able to play >wmv video files?
Can some one suggest me a video player that can play .wmv files smoothly.
Thanks in Advance.
our p500 cant play some video files smooth..because we have low h/w acceleration..
Smoothly....idk but I believe mx video player has support and its free on the market....download the video player and the armv6-vfp codecs
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk 2
Yes I can confirm that. I played a 720p wmv file with MX player weeks ago (but of coz it's not smooth on my ICS rom)
I already tried that. MX player plays only audio, it doesn't shows video for .wmv files.

Did you try software decoding(SW) mode?(on the upper right corner while playing).
Otherwise video probably has big resolution and you need to convert it.(480x320)
I tried to play through software decoding but it say "this video can't play using software decoding".
And the video resolution I am trying to play is 640x480. Is this resolution is compatible with our optimus one?

Yep.,640*480 videos are playable on p500.
But if you are on ics rom then it is lagging. Try to play on any GB rom, it's playing smoothly.

Rockplayer shows most of the archive formats, but don't play some of them smoothly.

The VLC Media player is now available on the play store for android
It Can play every video format.
Hope this will help u
