Ordered my Nexus One Today

I'm so excited I just ordered mine today, I also have a Cliq made my Motorola...I wouldn't advise anyone to buy one...Motorola can't even update the thing until 3 months later, it still has major issues...Can't answer calls, constantly droping calls and all that crapola Blur integrated with it..So I order my nexus today.. I feel like i just bought a Lexus....lol but I'm happy any comments on the phone? bugs? anything i should know when getting it? Because I did some research and haven't found anything crazy, seems google is keeping it updated and fixing everything it can on the spot.

I ordered mine on day one and haven't had any problems with it at all.
I installed 'Better Keyboard' because the only thing lacking, for me, on this phone was the keyboard.. although it's not THAT bad.
Over the past year I've had the Palm Pre, HTC Hero, iPhone 3Gs and the Nexus One.
The Nexus One is by FAR my favorite device.

Keyboard wise:
Install HTC IME (available on this forum) or Swype(also availbale on here). Both are free and far better then stock. Neither requires root or shouldnt.

So there isn't any lagging when using the nexus? Such as when you click a button it takes about 10 seconds for it to respond, or when you type fast it doesn't catch anything?

10 seconds? You gotta be kidding This monster doesn't know what lag is.
I've had my Nexus One for about a month already. I'm very very pleased.

Is it really necessary to start a whole new thread to tell us that you ordered a nexus? I know its exciting and all getting the phone but it's adds more clutter to the boards that isn't needed.

No seriously what is not needed is your remark. This is a board it thrives on the amount of posts/threads created.
wikipedia message boards/online communities and you will maybe gain some knowledge about how this kind of stuff works.
To the O.P you will love this phone. I went from iphone 3g to the g1, to palm pre, mytouch 3g to this and it is by far the best phone I have ever had the pleasure in dealing with.

I had mine on the third day after it was released. it had the touchscreen problem. and now i have sent it back for a refund. however, i REALLY love this phone, and am considering ordering a new one again. so, here comes my concern.

Congrats...I took the plunge and ordered one today too.

In the UK, after import duty, import VAT and DHL's charge for the privilege of them submitting your N1 to customs (yeah they charge for that too!) the N1 costs ~£490 (~$760US) ...a little too steep for me!

I spent a couple years here with you fine folk back when I had my Tilt but sadly parted ways when I fell for the Apple love-fest. Anyway I'm back!
Considering this is like the 4th or 5th shipment they've gotten I'd imagine its possible that it could be a new batch of devices.
Besides the Hardware version, is there any thing else I should look at when I get it that could help out the community?
I plan on rooting and flashing it tonight so I figured if there's something new on it I could snag it and give it out.

From where?
Is this an individual order or whole shipment?

look for light leakage and non responsive touchscreen when not holding it..there are a few topics on it as im sure you probably already found.

I'd recommend unlocking nand too while you root. probably better to do it all in one shot.

That is the same as me...although I am still waiting for mine to come in.

I HATE my Transformer now!!!!

Every morning I wake up and the battery is dead or almost dead on the dock and tab; random reboot lock every day or twice a day; it needs to be charged EVERY night even though dock and tab are both at 100%; its realy sad cuz I thoguht this thing was the awesomest ever now I have no faith in it and I hate it. It seriously makes me want to jump ship if this what our "awesome updates" are going to be like. A month of misery and non working $700 devices is BULL****.

The device isnt even a year old, have you contacted asus for warranty support?

Rma It I had issues with mine called Tech support got an rma and 10 days later i had it in hand repaired and working like a new one.....Asus Support was great for me.

Any device can have a problem regardless
of cost, its just unfortunate its yours.
what u thinking of changing to? a Samsung with oil slicks, iPad with weak bezel?........problems that have been rectified, so why can't your tfs?

My rma unit came back in worse shape than before I sent it in. And it cost me $20 to ship the first time.
I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

Have you even bothered to take a look at the battery meter to see which apps or functions are eating your battery? That's what its there for afterall. It could be as simple as a rogue app running in the background sucking up resources.

What does your serial number on your dock start with? Do you have the "mobile dock" conserving feature enabled in the settings and does it actually work?

Two things, turning the power off will stop the battery drain. Otherwise, make sure all non-essential apps are stopped because they all consume battery power to run. It's like leaving your car overnight with lights and radio on.

I keep my tab and dock separate as much as possible. The battery drain is extreme when they are connected.

Did you install the ICS update? Cause that's a known issue, see the Random Reboot Investigation thread. If you can, try to go back to HC.
BTW was the ICS update a forced update (I'm not on stock)? If it was then I can understand the frustration of the original poster. It's one of the reasons I didn't install ICS yet (I'm still on Krakd which I'm pretty happy with).

Certain part of the world have to pay a little more to play.

Sorry to hear about ur problems with the Transformer. I love mine so far. I've had it since Christmas, rooted it, installed Revolver then Krakd. Worked like a charm with excellent battery life. Then ICS came out, so I flashed that. It's better than ever now.
No lie... I took mine off the charger (No Dock) on Monday... It's almost the end of my work day and I still had 60% battery. I only plugged it back in because I wanted to get back to full battery in order to work on it this evening.
So... flashing ICS.. Battery life is great...

This was all actually due to the ICS update. This was the update that was sent from Asus, it was not a forced update. I did a factory reset on it as well once the ICS update was on it. I know that Asus is sending out a fix for the issue but its just SO annoying!! Plus, I dont feel like spending the time to revert to HC then update again. Oh well...

Spending time? It takes minutes to revert to a nandriod and load the correct Kernel.......Unless you don't have those. Opps.

Although i share your frustration, but u are not the only one experiencing these issues. The tablet is just fine, it is the buggy ICS update that asus is currently woking to fix it. Your OP was borderline trolling I agree with the above post, u can always restore a nandroid backup of a HC rom and kernel unless u didn't CYA. So take a chill pill and wait like the rest of us for the bug fix update.

Although I can understand the OP's frustration, seems pretty dumb to just hate a product so easily. Obviously there's something wrong with with the dock or the tablet. Or you could have a rogue app that is sucking down battery.

Might be some of the apps that you installed that is draining the battery. Try to remove them one by one and see if you have the drain. If its still there buy an iPad.

I think that for you will be better:
1 - Call assistance warranty or not
2 - sell your TF and buy another product (apple?)
3 - go on vacation instead to poison your soul writing here flamming threads because here there is not solution to your problem, they seams to be hardware related.

My A500 heading to Temple, TX... Update!!!

Just shipped my ICS 4.+ powered A500 to Acer's repair center in Temple TX
Man did the ICS update kill my enjoyment with the SOD bug, and a few others. After 3 chat session with Acer support, their solution to my problems is ship it to them, and they will downgrade it to Honeycomb 3.+
I should get it back in 2 weeks, and I hope it comes back to me scratch/dent free

I had an issue with my internal storage and I had to also send mine to Temple. I would have dropped it off to the center had I lived there, but I live in Dallas.... . Took me about a week to get them to understand what was wrong with it. I was told 7-10 days from the time they get it, which was 5 days ago. We shall see.

Yeah, I hear you. I hope they figure out what is wrong with the ICS update on its own, and issue a fix for the rest of the A500 owners that are experiencing some of the headaches.

Quick question.. I think my a500 screen has some loose connection n flickers to give bluish screen. When I put some pressure in the corners it gets fixed.
Raised display issues to Acer support but no response at all. Would mine also need to be shipped to temple, tx ?

If this is a bug from software/hardware. then yes. If it was dropped/etc, then no. Also, you only have a 1 year manufactures warranty, so do wait to long depending when you got you tab.

Well, after 6 days of them having the tab, they are shipping it back. Im getting it today via FedEx Ground. So they are pretty quick, a day faster than the soonest day they gave for the estimated time frame.

Well, they received my a500 on Monday, but gave a me a broken check its status link lol. I hope I get it soon, and working as it use to.

Well my daughter's a500 was repaired on 8/17, and shipped on 8/18, and should be here by the 22nd. I hope its back to its glory days via 3.2

Sorry I hadnt given an update. I got mine back with HC, so I decided to throw the patched bootloader and whatnot on it, and she has been running smooth since. Im currently running Thors JB Rom v10 with no problems.

I got it back with a Mobo replacement, its been good ever since. All issues fixed with it,

What issues were fixed.

Just got it back from Acer, and they did nothing. Still the same bugs are running lose. Time to call them back, or go the BBB route.

Well, I have to send it back, but this time, they are paying for the shipping via FedEx.

It was stuck in APX mode, they replaced the motherboard.

Well I finally got my daughter's a500 back from Acer for the 2nd time, and this time around they got it right, lol. Its now running 3.2 the bug less edition :highfive: It took longer then anyone would like, but they held their part :good:

Phone has vanished from Amazon!

Since last night. All you get is the error page with cute doggie. I know some phones have caught fire. Or maybe they want to make sure all are running v6.6. Still, it's odd that they didn't just give an out-of-stock message.

I saw one review with pics, but it was possible that phone was wet. Other than that I've heard nothing that sounded viable. My phone never even gets warm. Though I'm rooted, and use greenify and other performance apps.

Back up but only for non-Amazon sellers. Probably ran out or are waiting for units with v6.6.
Edit: Gone again.

What I know, and what I think the hell's going on.
Okay, so this phone was my baby for as long as I had it.
It got chucked on the ground. Complete web of cracks across the screen. The microphone also ceased to operate and my smart watch stopped co-operating with the phone to exchange push notifications. Anyway Amazon agreed to refund the device. It has been shipped. The same day I shipped it the listing was there and perfectly intact And today, when I go to re-order it... gone. ****ING GONE.
Anyway what I know from calling Amazon, harassing BLU Miami and checking listing databases it was very much available for purchase. Then- out of nowhere the listing's pictures are removed and then the listing was taken down.
A few hours later all listings of it were back on the system just without pictures or stock count, thus amazon listing it as a "coming soon" or "in progress" item. And now its listed as an item that is completely available but... is listed with a stock count of absolutely nothing.
BUT, here's the breakthrough.
They are going to start shipping with 6.6 preinstalled and some security patches (MAYBE VoLTE?!) there was a snag. Their offices are closed so I can't harass them anymore but, hey we have some info now. That's all I got from some internsnooping and employee twitter account announcements.

Thank God I got it and rooted it before this mess. Got it last week lol. That was close.

Apparently there is a change in plans for BLU, they have decided to change the listing ID on Amazon.
Then they took it down completely. Amazon Canada still has it tho (?)

Made the mistake of updating to v6.6. I would actually like the ads if they were at all targeted. So far, all stuff I never buy. I suppose they'll get better. Also feel safer from fire.

Funny, I was telling my buddy to buy the phone, went to bring it up, and saw the same thing, not for sale anywhere on Amazon
Mine is still purring along nicely, I don't even care about 6.6, to me the hassle of rooting the phone, flashing ROMs, and voiding the warranty wasn't worth dealing with vs spending the extra $50 to just buy the ad free version.

Is it coming back?
I wanted to pick up this phone for that 60$ killer deal but I just noticed it vanished today. Is it coming back or is it gone for good?

Paying extra $50 for non-root usage is absolutely mind-boggling. The main reason for root is adblocking. Not Amazon ads but the whole spammy ads in the Android ecosystem. If you were going to root anyway, why pay extra $50? If you weren't going to root, why buy a phone lol.

To use? I don't understand. I mean, I understand there is often a juvenile need a lot of geeks have to be in "total control" of their devices, but when you really sit back and look at it, it's rarely worth the effort. I had rooted phones previously "just because" and after years of not doing anything that needed root, I finally realized it's mostly a pointless endevour. Much rather have a phone with a warranty, and not worry about random things bricking my device in the root process.

hah! I ordered one on Friday and got it Saturday. MAYBE I GOT THE LAST ONE.

Not for trolling or anything but I followed the convert to OEM thread and in less than 10 minutes after taking it out of the box I had the non-ads version, no need to buy the expensive one at all.

I agree! Following Colton's excellent instructions, it was very easy to convert the phone to non-amazon version in 10 minutes. I knew enough to not put a SIM in it or let it connect to wifi and update, so I took it out of the box and just flashed it with SPFT. Couldn't have been easier. And with the money I saved, I picked up a second one as a backup.
And because I was able to root it, I installed xposed framework and the wonderful gravitybox module which allows for incredible customization of the stock rom. Once you take the phone updates, you don't have that option.
