Hi, when i am trying to connect to wifi, the phone says that it is unseccesful, as it couldn't reach the wifi network.
what is this? Should I take my phone out for servicing?
however, this does not happen to all wifis, it only happens to some. to some wifis, I can connect.

Can't connect to hidden networks by default, said to come in Mango. So it doesn't have to be something wrong with your set tbh.

The thing is, its not a hidden network I'm trying to connect to, its my own ad-hoc network.

Might be the ad-hoc I'd guess. Not sure it supports that atm, haven't tried though.

My E900 is starting to have some problems with Wi-Fi too. I need to reset my wireless router once a day to my E900 reach the connection. I firstly assumed it was a router problem, but I have to routers in my house and the E900 is "bugging" with both in the same manner. :~/
Yeah this sucks and I hope the new mango update fixes this problem since its only with a few wifi not all of them. I bought this smartphone with the idea of connecting to the wifi on my university and when I'm in the library the wifi signal is at full strength but I can't connect to it, yet my friends with their android and iPhone can, which is a huge bummer. This was a much needed feature for me and I hope they fix it.

Why is WMWiFiRouter always on and everybody can always connect even when I'm not running the software? It seems like the only way to stop it is to turn off the WiFi on my phone. Is there a way I can get it to run only when I want too? Is there a limitation on how many people can connect to it? Thanks for your help and time!

From what I've seen, WMWifiRouter uses a peer-to-peer wireless network that it uses to essentially "forward" packets to the cellular network. The thing is, shutting down WMWifiRouter doesn't shut down the peer-to-peer wireless network, so it still broadcasts that the network exists. It won't actually do anything with that network (i.e. there's no cellular network access via it), but it maintains it. So, you can either shutdown wifi, as you've noticed, or you can have your phone connect to a different wifi network. Either works.
As for the last question, I don't know if there's much of a limitation, but I would imagine that it's probably dependent upon the limitations of your hardware or Windows Mobile. Theoretically, depending upon the subnet, it probably supports up to 253 users (x.x.x.2 - x.x.x.254), but it would probably choke and die from performance reasons before that.
Well, this brings up some other issues then. I thought that it would only broadcast a few feet because I assumed the power my cell phone puts out is very weak. This isn't the case. I tested it by walking down the street and I could stilll connect up to 6 houses down the street. That means that anybody within 200-300 feet can connect to the internet through my cell phone since it's unsecured. This worries me, especually since unlimited people can connect to it. If I'm in a public place or a hotel, etc. where I could be using it, so can tons of other people. This can be a real big problem. Is there a solution to this?
Another thing is that even though you aren't running the WMWiFiRouter software and if you have your WiFi turned on people can still connect to your phone. Thanks!

I have version .85, is there a later version and if so how do I get it? Is there a way to setup security on it or via the NIC driver? Thanks.

Problem with WiFi router.
Some WiFi routers let you connect but not actually use it:
they require password or are not for public use.
Shouldnt be that is the problem. cuz she did connect to my wifi router a couple of weeks ago.
Well i did a soft reset(though i dont know if it is really resetted), and it worked again. But i still hope someone can answer why is this happening.
Thanks!
Tell her to temporarily open up her WiFi connection and disable encription.
Try to connect.
This worked for me on my dads router, a 2WIRE modem/router combination that he got from AT&T, (terrible device).
When done just re-enable the encryption.
If she wants to keep the encryption then you need to go into the WiFi settinngs and locate her WiFi signal.
Click Connect.
Then try each encrypted setting until it works(TPK, SHARED, TPK-PSK, etc. . . ). This is what I had to do at my office and at home. It took a bit of time but I finally found the correct type of encryption.
Worth trying. Will try telling her these when she comes by again today. Thanks mate!
Has anyone had any issues connecting to Wifi networks on their G2s? I got the verizon version on Saturday and haven't been able to get the phone working on 2 different wifi networks. I can connect to the wifi network just fine, but I can't access the internet at all. I can confirm that other devices are able to connect no problem.
Curious if anyone has some thoughts on how to potentially fix this. If not, will be heading back to Verizon to get a new one. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have the AT&T G2 version , it will connect to any wireless router but the connection will last 5 seconds then no internet, this is totally unacceptable I upgraded from the G-Pro and may go back as that never had this issue, I did read LG had a similar problem with the Nexus 4 and Optimus G
Mine works fine. I have a VZW G2 and an ATT G2 connected on the same router. It connects to both G and N networks.
No issues with my Verizon G2.

Did you try rebooting your router? I see this at home with the families iOS devices a lot, especially after heavy data traffic. I'll turn off the router for a couple hours or overnight and the next day all is well. Router is open, no encryption.

I have the exact same problem. It will sometimes transfer some data using browsers, but nothing on facebook, pandora, or the play store it will say connection lost or not data connection.
My wife has the same phone and it works no problem and also the laptop. Must be a dud wifi radio or something like that. Mine is going back to the store tomorrow.

Are you trying to use adblock by any chance? I was and it was causing the same issue you have. I uninstalled it and changed my proxy settings back to none and wifi is working great now.
Just received my LG G2 White brand new from T-Mobile about 2 hours ago. After many attempts to troubleshoot the issue it all failed. The problem is Wifi will connect to router and even work but after 30 seconds the connection goes down. The actual Wifi signal shows connected but no internet it gets stock. We tried resetting the phone and toggling with different features but still it did the same thing. T-Mobile is the worst they were trying to have me ship the phone back and leave me phone less for days. I complained and they are sending another one overnight but have charged me for the phone on my account. Mind you I've had months of bad service, after all I think I got a defective phone. I've read some other people having the same issue with other carriers. If I get another one with the same issue I'm jumping boat. If anyone knows of a work around let me know. I tried 2 different routers same issues connects then it randomly disconnects and stops downloading or transferring data.
Reset Phone - didn't work
Turned off mobile data - didn't work
Turned off wifi sleep - didn't work
I'm on Verizon. I have trouble with initial connection to wi-fi. It says obtaining IP address for a very long time. Even if I have a very strong signal. It takes about five minutes. It eventually connects and works fine. Then next time I try to connect to that router it works fine. It's only the first time I try to connect to a new router.
I just got this phone over the weekend and I was also having trouble connecting to my home wifi.
It would stay connected for 30 seconds or a couple of minutes then disconnect however the entire time the status under the Wi-Fi settings page says Connected even though I couldn't access the internet or the admin page of the router. Frustrating. If I turned off the mobile data, the wifi, the phone, the router, or some other unknown combination of events it would then reconnect again for another 30 seconds to a couple of minutes.
I called Verizon, they told me to take the phone back since I was within my 14 days. I did this and was optimistic. Then the new phone immediately experienced the same issue.
I did some more research, changed my router from 20 mhz channel width to auto 20/40 mhz. Not sure why it was set to just 20. I thought that would fix it. Nope.
I tried to set my phone to use a static IP, that didn't work either.
Then last night I tried the WPS Push Button option instead of using a password. This method worked and my phone stayed connected. I haven't had a chance to repeat my steps to verify it works again but wondering how other people are connecting, password, wps push button, wps pin? WPS is not my preferred option due to the security risks but just trying to track down what works and what doesn't.
I am able to connect at work just fine using a password.
I'm having a similar problem - my work network has no problem connecting while my home network almost never works with this phone (~25% of the time, other devices have no problem). Occasionally, resetting the phone or just turning on-and-off WiFi fixes the problem, but more often I just give up and use 4G. Anyway, if anyone finds a solution, please post! This is such a standard feature that should really work out of the box.
In case it helps, my home network uses "WPA/WPA2 PSK" security and my work connects to "802.1x EAP" security - also I'm not adverse to changing the security options if it fixes the problem.
Thanks! Nick
After reading more on this, I've decided this issue is router related not phone related.
I discovered my router reached end of life in April of this year is no longer receiving firmware updates. Newer versions of my router have received multiple updates since then.
I will be buying a new router. I report back on if it works.
I really don't think it is "router related" as all my other devices work as expected with my router. A new router may fix the problem, but I'm pretty sure the phone's WiFi is buggy and not the router..

In my situation it really appears to be how my router is handling the connection when I connect with a password since I can connect with limited security.
Does your router have a firmware update available for it? If so, have you applied it?
Received my new to me router yesterday with updated firmware as of 10/7/13.
My phone was connected for a few hours last night and I have not had any problems today. I'll report back if I start experiencing any issues but getting rid of my old, end of life router and replacing it with a newer router worked for me.
I did not buy a brand new router either. I went with a cradlepoint mbr95 which has been on the market for awhile and has already had a few firmware updates.
Check you wireless security settings
Had a similar issue to this and it seemingly was resolved when I moved the wireless router security over from WPA/WPA2 personal to WPA2 personal only. The phone found the WAP and connected right away. I tried to reproduce the behavior but alas I have not been able to do so. Perhaps this will help others.
hi guys
i found the problem
it happens just when you disable auto update in "settings>general>about phone>update center>software update>check automatically"

It's your router, not your phone(s). Can't believe you haven't considered the common factor.
There's nothing wrong with the WiFi on these phones. Hence you can't find answers to problems that don't exist...

I have no problem with wifi whenever I change new mobile phone . In your case you can try resetting your router.
I have reset the router and like I said in my earlier post, the problem was not just in my house with my wifi, its every wifi we have tried in different places all over
There isn't nearly enough data here to make any sort of assessment.
-Have you tested your connection settings from the phone? Try something like Speed Test to see if it can establish a connection.
-Does Wi-Fi stay connected or does it drop in and out? Does the Wi-Fi icon change to being grayed out? Does it turn itself off under your settings?
-Have you tried changing the connection type on the router? WPA2 to WEP, etc...
-Have you verified that the network is broadcasting an Internet connection from another device?
-Can you see the phone on your network from a computer?
-Have you tried pinging an IP address from your phone?
More than likely it's a DNS or DHCP issue. But I don't want to recommend any troubleshooting methods until the problem has been isolated.

I have the same issue. I have had the phone for a month with no issues. The last couple of days, I can't stay connected to any wifi either. It has happened on multiple routers in multiple locations.
I have updated my router firmware (although it happens on all wifi routers). I get a connection, then it disconnects, finds the wifi again, and reconnects...over and over again.
Something is up.
Did a factory reset...wiped everything to start over again...didn't help.
So, ever since I got my N6P almost a year ago I had this irritating Wi-Fi problem that I can't really find a solution for.. It goes like this;
Whenever my router restarts, my phone can't recognize the network.. The network doesn't even show on the list, and this changes only when I change the network name (SSID).. Only then the phone can recognize and connect to the network.. And during this time when it can't recognize my network, it can perfectly recognize every single Wi-Fi network within the range.. All but mine.
No other device in my household is affected "so it's not a router problem".. The phone is always fine with any other network anywhere else "which is confusing".
This problem existed since I opened the N6P box for the first time.. It didn't recognize my network until I changed the SSID whic was weird.
Please I need help, I live in a place where Internet is not really stable so the router restarts at least once a day, so this problem is Rally irritating.
Thanks in advance.

Interesting how in your problem statement you definitively rule out your router, although your phone works on every other router/network out there. Try updating the router firmware, or rule it out by the process of elimination... eg. use another router as a test. There are a lot of settings in the router firmware that can affect negotiation. What is your router make/model and what is the firmware version?
