HD2 Signal Strength Vs Xperia X10i - HD2 General

Hi,
I have been using my HD2 for more than a year and i ABSOLUTELY in Love with it.
Recently i moved to a new area where the Signal strength is not that great but existent.
I even changed my provider for better reception but HD2 just fails to catch any signal. Its fine when im in the middle of the city.
I tried the same Simcard in x10i and Perfect reception, A blackberry Bold and again No Signal Loss. Even in Iphone 4.
That really hurt my Pride
Been searching around threads. I know its all associated with the RADIO. I have tried almost every radio available. Still No luck.
Currently running Hyperdroid android Rom with 2.15 Radio.
Any suggestions? Should i Try those Signal booster stickers?

The contact points at bottom of phone may not be making proper contact with antenna.

but how do we determine the antenna contact loose or not ?

Poor signal quality with Tmobile

I just got a second hand HTC Hermes locally here in the US. My signal bar is always bouncing between 1 and 3 in areas that are very strong. It is at ZERO bars in my house. I still have my XDA II and the signal is FULL in strong areas and 2 to 3 in my house. Is the Hermes normally not as good with signal strength compares to my XDA II ? Or is there something wrong with the Hermes since I got it used? Thanks.

Try using a different radio. Works better for me in areas my MDA got weak signals.
I was using the original ROM with radio 1.03.03.10 when I bought the phone. I just upgrade to ROM 2.11.255.1 with radio 1.38.00.10 . It didn't help my situation at all. What radio version is everyone using?
I have a genuine htc Hermes, live in Kentucky with T-Mobile service. I get a fantastic connection to the network - four bars inside my house and it can't get better outside. It does sometimes go down to 2 bars in areas with limited coverage, but predominately I have a great connection.
Radio version is 1.34.00.10. ROM is 1.21.116.4.
Hope that helps you.

Bad Reception on UK Vodafone

Hi all,
I'm on Vodafone in London, and i'm finding i'm getting really poor reception and dropped calls.
After trying out a few ROMS i settled on Energy 21903 build as i've found its the most reliable ROM. I've also tried Artemis and Energy 23569 builds but just found they weren't as stable and crashed at some point.
At the moment i've installed 2.07 Radio.
My problem is that it seems to take ages to detect a signal and sometimes it comes and goes. I also only get one days battery.
Has any other Vodafone users experienced similar problems and whats the best radio for Vodafone in London?
Cheers

Surprised you say Artemis is unstable, did you do a task 29 before flash. I found this ROM on Vodafone to be excellent. Try the radio in my signature, it seems ok for me but to be honest the best advice I can give is flash one and try it for a few days.

I found that Artemis works ok for a few days then i start getting problems like system hangs. I found the same thing with Energy at first but then switch to the older windows build and haven't had any problems since.
I'll give you the radio a go, but i just want to know if its my phone thats poor on reception or just that Voda are not as good as they used to be
i left voda at the start of the year as after 3 years with them the siginal strength was dropping everywhere and became none existant at my house on diffrent handsets

I'd love to leave them, but unfortunately took up an 18 month contract on November, thinking about my past experience with them was good. What a dope i am.
HI Guys
I have got exactly the same problem with the battery/reception on Vodafone.
I am using Energy May 13th 23569 GTX, with Radio 2.10.50.28_2, and also get 1 day of battery tops.
I have noticed the Phone stays in flight mode sometimes after losing the signal, which is quite annoying.
yo
i live in a complete 2g area and use the radio RADIO_2.10.50.19_2
but as you are london and probably get alot of 3G and H symbols on your HD2 it will probably help but as soon as i visit my girlfriends in lincoln and get H, my phone lasts 1.5 days ish but i am used to charging nightly
its something we have to live with man with these power hungry phones
Im on voda in uk - midlands
I use radio 2.10.50.28.2 and it seems the same as every radio i have tried - at home constantly dropping in and out, from 3 bars 3G - to flight mode and back again.
In work i have almost full signal and H 3-4bars.
Im not too worried about the battery its just the signal at home that pees me off!!
Ive tried (i think) every radio apart from the .51. ones - does anyone know which radio vodafone HD2 shipped with??
If you have bad signal at home, get yourself a SureSignal booster (check it out here)
I use the 2.10.50.28 up here in Glasgow, and I get occasional drops at home, but out and about it's usually always very good. Sitting right now with H at 2-bars.
We had Vodafone for our corporate phones at my last work, they changed to O2 after a month as so few users managed to get decent signals. That was UK-wide.

Vodafone and O2 share masts, so signal is generally the same in all areas of the UK for both networks. Of course it does vary slightly from area to area, and radio and make of phone matter too.
I think Voda just aren't as good as they used to be with reception. I think the phone must have something to do with it as well, but the general picture i get when asking around is that they're just not as good as they used to be.
Oh well, gonna try 2.10 and see if its any improvement.
Vodafone reception has been fine for years in all of my Nokia handsets but was so rubbish on the HD2 I was beginning to regret my purchase. Switched to O2 and reception is now fabulous, no regrets now!
Voda signal
Have to agree with most of the people who have posted on this thread. Voda reception is patchy at best.
At times I can be on full strength HSPDA, then for no apparent reason, I'll be in exactly the same spot and the signal just disappears altogether.
Though to be fair, I'm not sure whether to blame it on voda as I came from Three which got a brill signal in all areas, but that's all I really have to compare it too. We do use Voda 3G dongles on laptops at work...and they are absolute crap...lucky if we get a signal, and when we do they're slower than Slowy McSlow on the slow train from Slowsville!!
Voda reception seems to have got really bad this last 2 years they are even offering a home router to boost reception!!??(I think they missed the MOBILE phone part!),
having said that my TP2 had much better reception than the HD2..
I have also tried alot of different roms and Radios I am in Hampshire so not too far from London.... I am using 2.09.50.29_2 along with the cab for call quality fix it is a US Tmo radio, so you need to use with a TmoUS compatible rom.
I know alot of people are using the 2.10 radios but after many trials I have found 2.09 the most stable and best all round for data, reception and battery,
Hope this helps
The whole point of the router is to boost your signal at home. A lot of people live in bad signal areas, but have no problems elsewhere, so that is designed to help me get better signal at home, the one place you can at least do something about it. And apparently, it works very well.

[Q] Poor radio signal

Im running a Bell desire z on the fido network in east Toronto. I'm getting pretty poor signal strength at my home which i believe is one of the reasons for higher battery use. I am using the following 1.34.666.5 with Radio 12.28b.60.140eU.26.03.02.26_M and getting a signal strength of around 99dbm and 7 asu. Does anyone know of different radio roms or later ones that I could use, to see if i get better signal? Of course i don't want to lose any of the 3g bands and i would assume that would happen if i tried a Europe desire Z radio rom. Any tips on getting a better signal are greatly appreciated,
Actually that's exactly the same radio version as came on my UK Desire Z. You're right that if you're getting worse reception, your battery is going to get used up more quickly (phone has to boost the signal, using more power).
Edit - by the way, this should be in General, not Rom dev (I'm sure a mod will move it, or you could always pre-empt them and send them a PM).
Edit: I got this one ~TheRomMistress

[Q] Definitive way to improve reception?

Okay, so I'm on the T-Mobile USA network. I've had a Dash 3G for a long time, and I've recently picked up an HD2. My Dash 3G gets full bars in my house, no matter where I am. But when I put the SIM card in the HD2, I'm lucky if I get any service at all. If I so much as LOOK at it the wrong way, the signal dies completely.
Is there a definitive way of increasing the antenna reception, or is the HD2 just like this all the time? Or is it just my phone? Is there a specific radio people have tried that have improved reception (I'm in Utah, if that makes a difference)?
Sorry, I'm still way new to all this flashing and stuff.
(I also posted this in the HD2 Q&A board, since I didn't know if the version of the phone would make a difference. It IS a TMOUS version.)
Im my experience...the HD2 actually has EXCELLENT recption compared to older HTC devices...so it may just be your phone. If it's fairly new, maybe ask T-Mobile for a warranty replacement.
same issue
I have had the same issue since i brought my HD2 home. My roommate has a new G2 and gets full signal as there are 3 Tmo towers within 1000 feet of my house. Yet I barely get 2 bars and most often, none at all. She gets "lol4g" throughout the house while I barely get it when outside, pointed at the tower holding onto my tinfoil hat.
HTC HD2 TMOUS
WinMo ver: CoreCell 4.2
Android: MattC leo + Froyo /w sense 1.8
Radio: 2.10.50.26
I have reloaded every version of the readio and nothing is making it better. When I went to TMO, I had full signal sitting in their store so they pretty much didnt do anything but soft reset the phone.

[Q] Signal issues I've tried hardware fix

So i just got a sim card for my phone. Well i get amazing service at my moms house and thats cause theres a tower right next to us at the local ski resort. However at my fathers house i get horrible service. If i pick up my phone i loose service completely, ive done the hardware fix, which didnt help, and when i do have service its always JUST edge. When according to T-Mobile's coverage map i am flooded with 3g and some 4g all around me.
So im guessing it MUST be the phone. In addition to the hardware fix, im thinking about soldering a 26-30 gauge wire to the two prongs and laying the wire around the device. like the perimiter of the Mobo. Giving it an antenna like my HTC Touch Pro 2.
Also, would flashing a newer radio help any? If i am able to flash a newer radio cause i know in order for android to work that it must be a certain radio. Howerver now that android is set up will i be able to flash one? Im on CLk btw.
Secondly, when i have service its EDGE, but occasionally it will jump to H symbol (Im guessing this is HSDPA) now the reason its jumpping would have to be lack of service, my guessing that is. To me its the equivelant of jumping from 3G to 1x on Sprints network.
Also what is G? lol i am at G now not E or H just G lol. Sorry for my noobishness but im coming from a Sprint CDMA network
Does anybody else have issues like this?

I've noticed it's horrible when I hold it, could it be my sim card?

Hey, I've had my HD2 T-mob for over a year now imported to New Zealand. And I'm running on 2degree's(Vodafone) here which runs on GSM and UMTS, I only get reception in cities and it still cuts out when I'm in very low residential areas. I get absolutely no reception outside of any city and it's just completely unreliable, My baseband is 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14 I don't know too much about this stuff but I'm pretty sure I'm running the most up to date radio. Any help or recommendations would be superb.

Well after much googling hoping to find a software fix, there isnt any. Its the hardware of the phone(in my case anyhow) T-Mobile's coverage says i have strong 3G and some 4G (like if i drive 5 mins) but yet i can barely pic up edge. So i took apart my phone and solderd two wires the the prongs and BOOM easily 3G was picked up two - three bars. BUT i couldnt reassemble the device because the wires were too big. All in all it comes down to HTC putting in a lowsy antenna. It works good if youre right next to a tower but second you go away it sucks. I mean heck, i bought a cheap 29 dollar T-Mobile prepaid samsung phone and that had 2 bars solid of 3G. So i know the service is there but its just that the phone cannot pick it up.
