So I've managed to root the tab fallowing instructions, however, I'm wondering if there's any know app that can toggle the storage to be accesible via usb on my laptop. I know the storage within is basically acting like a sd card.
Not that I know of I just use adb

I hate to start a "OMG ITS NOT WORKING" Thread. But im just plain stuck.
Im trying to get to my sd card on my computer, to switch to my 4gb and to get the update.zip on it so i can root. But no matter what i do, it wont mount. My computer complains that the "USB Device not recognized" and loads a bogus driver. Ive been trying to get it figured out but nothing so far.
Anyone else have this problem? Any one know how to fix it?
hope this helps

No help :O( i dont get whats wrong.
what happens when you plug in the usb cord? Are any external drives shown on your computers file/drive viewer (my computer, etc)? If so can you open those drives, if not what does it say?
the way it should work is.
-DL the drivers here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7218057
-install the drivers on your PC
-hookup phone to PC via the provided usb cable
-on the phone drop down the notification bar and MOUNT the SD card.
-open My Computer or other file viewer
-see two external drives one the internal with about 13GB of total space and one the SD card with 2GB of total space
-add remove files from cards
I did all that. When i plug it in, my computer says "the usb device is not recognized" and proceeds to load a bogus driver. Ive installed the debugging driver, nothing. nothing shows up in my computer for the sd card, OR the phones own flash memory.
I have 3 separate android phones, never had this problem before.
try connecting the phone to your pc again. Make sure that on your phone, that youre using the mass-storage option. Next look at the top of your phone, and pull down the header bar. and click on the "usb connected" option or whatever it says, and then choose "mount" when it pops up.
That's how your actually turn on the mass-storage. dont know why its like this, thought it would be automatically done after chosing the mass-storage option.
I am having the same issue. Installed drivers but can't access the drives.
It does automatically set it self for mass storage, but the computer for some reason isnt seeing it. im pretty sure its a driver issue. or the usb port on the phone maybe bad... that would be annoying.
Hi All
Hope someone can help me out here.
I am having problem with connecting the USB cable for file transfers. It was working before until tonight. I keep getting this "initialising..." on the mobile screen when the USB cable is plugged in and it keeps flashing on the screen without establishing a proper connection with the computer. Kies has already been installed on the pc. Does anyone know why it's doing this? I'm unable to transfer files now and it's a problem for me.
On another note, is it possible at all to transfer files using the USB cable without installing Kies?
Regards

Yes. Go to USB settings and select mass storage. Your GS will connect as an external drive.

Sorry, I'm new to this Android thing.
How do you go to USB setting?
Is anyone having trouble with mass storage mode on a mac? Do I need drivers?

No problems here, but I usually leave it in Phone portal so I don't have to eject every time. Didn't have to install any drivers.

I AM!
I bought double twist last night just so I could transfer music via WIFI. When I plug the phone in to my Macbook an autorun file mounts and gives me an .exe setup to run. But... Mac's don't like exe's.
My n1 would plug in and mount no sweat - so I'm not sure what needs to be done to this thing.
EDIT:
I should clarify that I have not installed an SD card. I'd like to figure out how to mount the internal 16G flash drive.

Enable usb debugging in settings>applications .. then connect the phone to your mac and set it to usb mass storage mode..
It should get mounted in finder at that point.

Cool - I'll try it tonight.
Thanks.
Thanks!
Strange thing is I did that earlier today but it didn't work... just did a reboot and tried that again... it worked.

Hey guys I just got the Nexux S 4G from Sprint yesterday and when I plug it into my computer it installed everything and said my device was ready to use but when I turn USB mass storage on and I dont get a folder on my computer. Anyone have the same problem of know a fix? Its windows 7 btw.
You need to install the usb drive from the sdk.
Go to the dev section and look for the rooting guides and you'll find links to it you don't need to be rooted but you need the drives for your computer to read your phone

Awesome thank you very much.
Ok so now when I plug it in the folder shows up but when I click it it says no drive.
Mmm, it must be cause the phone does not have an external sd, did you also turned the debug mode and or mass storage on your phone? You'll find those on your settings

A lot of people seem to be having this issue, particularly after installing or coming from a recovery.
I have the issue of not being able to mount the Mass Storage from recovery. I can mount from the OS just fine also fastboot has no problems.
Yep...USB Storage mode is borked. I wonder if GRJ22 has anything to do with this.
Hi everyone,
i want to connect my Nook to my PC, which is running Kubuntu. I already activated USB Debugging but i'm not able to find the MTP Mode on the Nook. It's supposed to be under Settings - Device - Storage right? Under USB Storage there is only one option called "Mount SD card: Insert an SD card for mounting" which i can't activate. There are no other USB options. Could anyone please tell me how to switch to MTP? Thanks.
Edit: I'm using CM 10.2

First, you do not want USB debugging on if you want MTP. Second, the MTP should be under storage, but under the advanced setting when you press the menu key.
