They are for charging when on a dock. If you Google mytouch 4g Bluetooth dock you will probably find it.

The dock has a micro usb connector.
What are the 3 metal connectors for?
The three connectors are for charging as well. There is currently no dock on the market that uses it. People have hacked together their own, though.
Ah, I see. Silly people, make a doc for the phone, BEFORE it goes on sale.
The big issue I'm having ow, is finding a case for it. I had a nice Roots one, but, it's about 1/8th of an inch too small.
I have to go to Futureshop and Bestbuy and the Supercentre Walmart tomorrow to try to find one that'll fit. I'm hoping I can get one at WM, as their warranty is best (I've had to return 3 Roots cases there.... and it's always easy to do.)
I was unaware that they havent made a dock to use the 3 pins yet! I had a dock for my old Nexus One that used those 3 pins, it was very nice. They should stop lagging and make one for the MT4G.
They have an unofficial one that uses the pins. Search this thread for "Better Docking" and you'll find the website in that thread. DO NOT use the official docking, as it uses the micro USB and is a TIGHT fight. Eventually, you will wear down your USB port.
It must be for a dock, mostly for the car. Then why is there an option in setting for phone dock?

Hi guys. Need help here. My ipaq won't charge even with te original usb cable.
It seems that the usb port is damaged - it charges only when i put a piece of paper in the mini usb connector so the pins of the connector are pressed against the ones on the usb port on the device. I guess they use too soft pins and they got deformed. Can anyone help me fix that. My device has no warranty.
I don't know if it is easy to change but this is what you have to buy :

Yep. That's the part. I found it later after I wrote the post. I guess I'll have to make a paypal account after all. Thank you thouugh. In the local service center they said they will fix it fo 15USD but I have to provide the spare part.
Any idea why this part has broken down? Is it possible to fix it without repacing it?
it sounds like either the small clip inside the USB port has snaped, or bent.
If its snapped, then theres very little holding it on so best to get it replaced
If its bent, then it may be possible for you to bend it the other way so it makes a stronger contact tot he USB plug. It will still be weaker than originally.
I have the exact same problem. The weird thing is that it still syncs and I can use WM5torage. I got around it by buying a cheap extra battery + external battery charger combo.

Someone help me out mannmnn
Look for micro-HDMI......not mini-HDMI. If you get a mini-HDMI cable, you will need a mini-to-micro adapter. You're looking for:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Micro-HDMI-Cable-Droid-X-/300535332662?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45f94d3f36
This is from a US seller and will not take 2-3weeks to arrive.
Edit: The second link you posted is the right cable.
Just get one from Amazon for 6 bucks mine works flawlessly and arrived in 3 days

why not just search hdmi htc evo on monoprice? that'll show you some that's compatible and it even says so under the description
micro hdmi only. U will be sad if you buy a mini

I want to say I bought my micro HDMI from monoprice.com for about $2 or $3. That is the way to go.
Edit: Just checked, looks like the prices may have gone up a bit but still cheap and worth it.
I will also recommend monoprice. Very cheap prices, but very high quality cables. And it only takes a few days to ship, as opposed to those ebay sellers which take weeks.
And just to clarify, you need a MICRO hdmi cable, not mini.
Hi people. I got hands on this thing
I think it can be usefull in someway..

I don't understand about electronics that much.. my field is medicine
My question is, can we build it?
Cheers.
Unfortunately that is not all we need. As far as I know, there is some additional circuitry in that little box.

That's definitely the case; I've read that MHL devices switch between MHL & USB modes based on the resistance across two pins on the 5-pin microUSB connector. So you'd need to duplicate that, and there's also some circuitry to convert the MHL video out signals to HDMI. SiliconImage makes a family of such chips.
Also, there's probably some magic involved in integrating the +5V from the microUSB charger input into the MHL connector, so as to keep the SGS2 charged while it's playing video. You'd at least want some current/voltage limiting circuitry to protect your expensive TV & phone from being zapped by a bad charger.

Here is a far more detailed description of the mhl adapter: http://www.wilder-tech.com/pdfs/Tektronix_MHL-TPA_User_Manual_Rev-A.pdf
:good:
MHL Cable is an active cable, meaning that there is an active circuit (Controller) within the cable, there are ways to home manufacture it, assuming that you have the required equipment and knowledge . but it just doesn't any sense. Unless you are doing it as a study case.

I just bought the Zens Dual Qi charger in the UK for use in the US. Any have the UK version could you let me know the electrical plug type and voltage input? (also if possible the input requirement of the Pad itself, I do not think it required 220V to work) Could I adapt it to use here in the US or am I out of luck. I still have a bit of time to cancel my order.

Tried the Energizer dual charger one, but it is oh so crappy, it requires precise location to work.
Found the answer from another post, I will re-post it for other to see

So, after staying in backlog at most sites I now canceled all of them and decided to order one directly through www.zensshop.com. It was shipped the day after I ordered it and I got it in a day. Did a small photoshoot of the unpack:

The charger is 100-240V, so should work almost everywhere. I believe they are not associated to Maxell, as Maxell is a relatively big company that has just recently launched it, whereas Zens already has their chargers up and running for 2 years. I believe they were the first in Europe, so probably Maxell was inspired by them. I think the design is great and the positioning is very good. You can just put it on the charger and unlike the Energizer ones; it doesn't really matter where you put it. Also it's not under an angle, so your Nexus 4 won't drop off. I am very happy with mine, so good luck finding yourself one if they haven't sold out yet

Anyone got their hands on this cradle? The proper model is WCD-800, but $140 a pop is not given away at all.

Thanks LG, this is WAY more useful than a good qi car charging dock. Next can we get an an official led-lit USB cable while we wait for actual accessories we might WANT to use?

$140 to charge your phone?!?! HELL **** NO!!!!!!. Amazing thing is, there are dumb enough people out there to buy it.
too expensive
I think this was aimed at someone who sits at a nice oak desk inside of a plush office all day (lawyer, corporate big wig). Overpriced? Yea more than a little bit when there's cheaper alternatives. Wanna see what dumb people buy? http://www.amazon.com/CTA-Digital-i...0340&sr=8-6&keywords=ipad+potty+training+seat

Yes, right after Google puts back into Android CAR MODE which they stupidly gutted from JB.
