Not too much is out there yet. If you search the Market for "Xperia play" you should find a few. I suspect that the big slew of games will come with the E3 in two weeks.

try killing all active applications before launching the game.
I had frame rate issues the other night with asphalt6 and after killing most active tasks it ran fine.
If you go to the Xperia Play app, either by launching it or opening the slider, you can hit the Market button at the top right of the app which will take you to the Android Market. It does a search for "XPERIA PLAY optimized" and gives you the results.
There are tons of normal games that work with the gamepad also.

Are there any Gameloft games in the market? I would rather buy from there than from Gameloft's website.
I believe they are just on their website. Or if you have a Verizon PLAY, they are available right in the VCast store if you wanted to use that instead.
one thing id like to see if a sorta xperia play website, with forums and community features.
like the N-Gage had.
i dont know where to go for news on the xperia play. is there a official blog i just cant find?

I prefer from Gamelofts website.
You can add the price of purchase to your phone bill, meaning you do not have to give credit card details to random person on market place.
One reason i have never bought anything from marketplace is that you can not purchase through phone bill.

Kinda funny how Sony keeps pushing to sell their PsOne games on any market they can get a hold of...
But none the less, very cool and exciting to hear.

My thoughts exactly when I saw the PSPhone. I would much rather have a dedicated game pad than a keyboard.
My only problem with convergence devices is that if it breaks, you lose your phone, your game player, your music/media player all at the same time.

Agreed. Most games I play work, but not flawlessly.
As far as I was aware it was only going to *start* with PSOne games, but it also provided a hardware-neutral API. I think Sony is gonna market this to developers as the framework for gaming on Google's Android as well as their own PSP/NGP platform.
I put this in the other, forum, but just wanted to put it here so more people would see it.

What's wrong with me playing Rockman on my nesoid? It's not like I can go out and buy an NES to play it with.

Yea lol they freak out when you don't pay to play a game that hasn't been on sale for 20 years but are to lazy to make anything so you can play it legally and they can make almost pure profit because they don't need to put any money into game design.

The point is that it is pirated. I can promise you, if some one contacted nintendo, asked permission to dev out emulators and digital.games, they would syrike a deal with them.whether or not you agree with, its still pirating games, we all do it to a point im sure, but rom gripper was a whole other realm.

From what I've seen, majority of the work this guy did was import source code from other open-source emulators (ex. snesoid was based on snes9x). He took this and put them up for sale which is, I'm assuming the biggest reason that they were removed from the market.
It's like that Akaskriller dude, he takes the work of others and edits it a little bit and puts it up for sale (monthly fee, same thing) and the community gets all up-in-arms about it but when something like this happens its big bad Google at fault. It's nice of him to put it up for free but they should have been free from the beginning.

This is the biggest reason I refused to use yongzh's emulators. Now that they're available for free I might check it out but it's not high on my list of priorities. Heck, Plants vs. Zombies just came out on Amazon!
Im not so sure about his work being fake. His N64 Emulator was better than the other one in the market, the other one is rated with 2 stars, his was rated with 4 and a half i think. At least in my phone, N64oid works better than N64 Arcade. And now that its free, its even better! xD

Now that they are gone, do the people get a refund or something?. Or is google promoting piracy?. Even the game Dropblock that i had bought also is nowhere to be found... If there were legal issues with these games then they shouldn't have been in the marketplace in the first place!!

You are implying more than just facts those.
I ended up getting the slideme versions when they were free, but I too was kind of bummed since I had already bought one or two of them. However if this guy was ripping off code and being douchey, well I am glad he was at least inconvenienced, sucks that we all end up out a few bucks too (although as long as the program is backed up the emulators will still work...).

I'm sure there is, but asking about warez here is only going to get you banned and have you ever though that the games might be basic because of people like you? what developer would want to make a game, if people are just going to steal it.
There are no decent games and even if there were good ones the controls will suck balls, the touch pads are a joke and who in their right mind would pay 1-10 bucks for a game that can be beat in an hour? I would just stick with fpse

Mass piracy has not stopped successful games from selling in any platform. The truth is that games are basic because we're not paying premium prices. A price range from 0 to 5 euro a pop won't buy you inventive stories, memorable voice acting and intricate, long gameplay. It will buy you Cut the Rope, Battle Bears or Eternal Legacy.
Too expensive? These games are about £3 at most, with a lot coming under that. The games are good, but the uptake of the play has been a bit slow so devs wont bother optimizing for it! Its down to Sony to get them to port their games across.
IMO the best games you can get are the ones that are pre installed on the play and Dungeon Defenders, other than that FPSE and the ~oid range are your best bets

I agree. The majority of people who pirate would likely not buy the movies/games/software anyway. I'm sure some would but most wouldn't. And the games’ being basic is because the devs are developing for the lowest common denominator which is the crapy touch screens. If we do get good Play Only games they will likely come from anyone with a steak in the Xperia Play.

QFT.
The touchpad/analog controls in some of the games are implimented in different ways. Some are true analog, and others are swipe. Some people like it one way, others like it another. I honestly wish they would allow an option to switch. However, there are plenty of decent games available for this phone, that although they may cost about US$5, that isn't terribly much. A coffee, or a game. even if the game is short, you would probably reach the same amount of enjoyment time from it.
If all else fails, there are some decent to good emulators out there and you can play all the old games you have from back in the day. NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System, NeoGeo, PSX/PS1, N64, etc. I think there is even some MAME goodness floating around for arcade carts/ROMs.
If you can't find a good game that works decently with the controller in that whole huge mess, then I suggest that maybe your criteria is set too high, and you would have problems finding suitable items on any platform at that high of quality requirement at that low of a price.

I'm sorry if I "attaked you" in any way. But you're very negative 90% of the time. And I'm not the only one who thinks that. You don't have to say that the phone is crap, useless, the controls sucks and so on, because they don't. It's enough to say "I don't like it, it doesn't fits my needs". Just saying.
"You don't have to say that the phone is crap, useless, the controls sucks and so on, because they don't. "
Show me where I ever said that? Quit making **** up. I love the phone. The controls are great if the game is developed properly for them. I have stated many times that the battle bears game has them done right. I have said Gameloft games need better controls. Since I have 6 of them I have a right to state my opinion on them. Most of my posts are questions or helping others.

Am I to guess you mean because you and I are in the USA, while those who are not in the US have access to the PS store? For Verizon users we have never had access to and never will. I have used the permissions from 2.3.4 on my 2.3.3 and been able to load it but it still gives an error everytime. So instead of worrying about the PS Store I just convert the PS1 games I already own at home to work on my PLAY via the conversion tool, zpak file an apk.....Grandia here I come.

Am I to guess you mean because you and I are in the USA, while those who are not in the US have access to the PS store? For Verizon users we have never had access to and never will. Just that Grandia is bada$$. As much as FF7 is good, I much prefer Grandia for the story, doesnt have the nicest graphics by any means.... but its always been a favorite of mine.
By the way, are you using an AT&T XP or the R800i (international)? Just curious

So if this planned PS Mobile actually does support the PLAY, not saying I think it will despite it being listed, does that mean that the PS1 games I bought on my PS3 I can play them on my PLAY?

For the "support" Idont see AT&T and VZ releasing an update to make this work with our phones, unless Sony makes it compatible with 2.3.3

It won't need a software update, just a PSStore update (APK)

Yes, R800x, R800at users can install the PS store apk but it wont load. It gives us an error when loading it. So unless say for examply Sony were to unlock the access to the PS Store in the US, as currently it is and has always been restricted, then I can see how it might work. But the other problem is that Xperia PLAY users in the US do not have 2.3.4 AT&T users might be able to flash a 2.3.4 rom to their phones allowing access to load the app, but R800x users 2.3.4 updated breaks all Google sync and makes it in my opnion unacceptable to use. So R800x users are really stuck on 2.3.3, and at 2.3.3 you cannot run the PS Store. I have tried repeastedly to push the permissions files from PS store from a 2.3.4 rom and it will load but upon the initial screen it force closes. So what I am saying is that R800at users can get to use the store but R800x users will most likely be screwed, unless Sony unlocks the store to run on 2.3.3
Not trying to rant just trying to make it clear the situation, obviously though its not worth bantering on and on about it at this point we will just have to wait and see what transpires of this..

I am still running 2.3.4 on my R800x, while the Google sync issue sucks, it does sync twice a day on its own, it just doesn't live sync at all.

I am aware it sync twive a day, just saying that in my opinion I personally would not use it as I do a lot of business email on my phone and it would be a pita to have to manually sync every few minutes. Obviously I might be more dependant to it than others.
Just to be sure have you tried installing/loading the PSstore app and if so does it work for you?
