Definetly cf root

Can i trust them three merdan? Which would you recommend? If i root, will my phone open apps instantly and have no lag or will i need to do something else?

You need to spend time reading up in this stuff, learn.... all the info is available.

i don't remmember which one's i used, but cf root is the most simple (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108)... about the lag: i thing JVO is quick without any tweaks))) cf root only gives u root permissions, doesn't add any tweaks.
personally, i think stock 2.2.1's are the most stable and gives 3x more battery life with speedmod kernel. Samsung and google are doing soo bad with gingerbread, and that's shocking.

The only reason i wanted to root was to cut out the lag, but there is hardly any so i think i wont root after all.

I used fugumod. worked a treat.

Ive tried using the cf root for jvo but its not working. In Odin, i go on PDA and get the .tar file. When i put my phone in download mode and connect it to my pc, nothing happens when i click start. However, when i reboot my phone one of the blocks in odin turn yellow. What am i doing wrong?

Make sure Kies is not running (even in system tray) before you open Odin. I have yet to root JVO also but plan to do so soon. I want my voodoo sound back

Simply rooting your phone won't change anything about lag (which I have none with JVO stock). It merely allows full system access.

USB Debugging enabled?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

ive tried with usb debugging enabled and disabled. Should it be disabled?

Maybe you need to reinstall the USB drivers...

Ive reinstalled kies a couple of times and the drivers are on that arent they?

I think, Try it different PC.
It is Odin connection issue

Ive tried 2 computers and still not working

[Q] Help!! Root Problem!

Ok Obviously Samsung fascinate...i used Odin to flash over the new DL09 to upgrade from my DI01, great cool!
Then i used Android Central rooting tool (basically cause its the only one i know of) which i have used 2or 3 times now with a successful root everytime, works like a charm like always.
However when Verizon messed up with a Emergency Call placing under lock screen they OTA EA28 to my phone, somehow i lost my root, ok still not a problem, i go back to my favorite little tool i start her up, this time, with all driver in place just fine, with my phone is USB Debugging as requested, phone restarted and unlocked everytime, my phone isn't recognized?
I've re-installed everything, even the drivers, i've removed all the superuser, all that good stuff off my phone, still no love from the phone?!
HELP!!!!
Edit- I thought about re-flashing DL09, but then the OTA will kick in re-install EA28 and i'll be back to square one!
Use superoneclick it worked for me. If you have problems using superoneclick then power your phone off and on while usb still pluged in while on debug mode

Gingerbreak concerns

I would recommend not to use gingerbreak, as I had loads of problems, I don't know wether it was a one off, but I experienced the following....
When opening camera I would just get a black screen, and the device would just freeze up. I would hav to reboot the device
My lock security option became disabled!! Couldn't set a lock pattern, pin etc...
And.... Pc companion wouldnt recognise my device!
Has anybody else had problems!??
try this if it helps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047484
I managed to do a restore via seus, just wanted to warn others
I've just been trying to connect to my PC via USB for either ADB or Fastboot and neither are working.. It was fine when I rooted with fastboot and flashed bin4ry's method.. then I was trying something so I reflashed a stock ROM then rooted with gingerbreak.. now the PC doesn't recognise it at all..
[EDIT - Forgot to mention - the reason I was trying to connect my phone was because since I gingerbroke my phone the battery consumption has been shocking too.. so I wanted to start from scratch! and go back to Bin4ry's rooted ROM. ]
What version of gingerbreak did you guy's use?
Would it matter what version to use?
I have rooted with gingerbreak some time ago and do have none of the problems above.
I did it with version 1.1 of gingerbreak
Root with the gingerbreak method is the best option right now, that way you will still have warranty for your device.

i used 1.2 version.
i dont no wether to try gingerbreak again, just to comfirm these problem or wether i accidentally uninstalled something with titanium!??
you don't lose your warranty by unlocking the BL.. you only lose your warranty by bricking your phone with a dodgy custom kernal.
Nope, I did not have any of the problems you are having. Mine works flawlessly!
Rooted with Gingerbreak 1.2, and I have no problems as desribed by Gibbo or iceman.
I can see my device in adb as well as do shell command on it. I haven't tried stock camera app again since I know it drains battery really bad; But I don't have problem whatsoever taking pictures with Vignette.
Rooted with 1.1 and no problems at all
Just know what you delete and what you allow

Have you installed busybox ?

yeah ! Sorry but ultimately i have solved my problem ! I'm a little stupid at times , i have forgot to install busy box ...
Now my xperia arc is perfectly rooted thank's all .
ive had the black screen issues but everytime its been due to low memory. But I had this before rooting. By using gingerbreak I can now use autostarts and I have far less issues

[HELP] S2 ROOT v1.2 Gone Wrong

Hi Everybody,
I've tried rooting my Galaxy s2 using s2 root v1.2.
Followed everything very carefully, ran odin, installed insecure kernel. But when I launched s2 root it came up with an error message 'this is only for galaxy s2 phones'. Then i noticed in my computer instead of the phone icon theres only 2 drives there?. So Ive ran odin again and reinstalled the official kernel and the same things happening and now kies wont recognise my phone?
Someone please help....
Ok figured it out, switched usb debugging off, now the phone icon is back and kies works. But can anyone help as to why s2 root wont detect my phone??
Why would you use s2 root ? All you need to do to get root is flash cfkernel.
I want to put back the original kernel once i am rooted, looking at that chainfire thread, I don't know if it will work. BTW I have BVKG3.
I think you are confused because you don't need root to flash kernel/rom ect. Just use ODIN to flash.
OK rooted now using chainfires method. Going to try putting official kernel back on via odin, hope it stays rooted
It will, you will lose other nice things like clockworkmod recovery and nandroid backups but root will stick.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App

confused???

I tried using superoneclick 2.3.3 on my continuum after it received the froyo upgrade, and I have two problems:
1) it hangs whenever it gets to step 1 of pushing superuser
2) it says I'm already rooted, do I want to continue
I previously tried rooting with z4root, but I didn't think that was successful because the busybox installer and a root checker both say I don't have root access. Any ideas?
try the ginger break option i think is what its called and make sure u have usb debugging enabled. or u could just use odin to install a pre rooted ec09 rom

My deodexed ec09 roots kernel. Or flash one of imnuts' custom kernels. All rooted and in cwm zips

Dude!
Awesome suggestion...I found a thread over at android forums for flashing D17 first, then EC09, which is sorta what I wanted to do. It's working flawlessly now (i'm installing the EC09 OTA update as we speak). But I can tell this method will work.
I don't know what happened before, but it's like my phone was in rooted limbo. Hell, even my wifi wouldn't connect to any networks...now it does.
Thanks again for your help. You rock!

[Q] (Root not happening) S4 i9500 {4.3 - I9500XXUEMJ8} {CSC - INU} {How to root now?}

Hello developers.
I'm trying to reroot my phone after the latest 4.3 update via ODIN for my Indian handset.
I'm trying using CF-AutoRoot via ODIN and the it says PASS and the phone restarts normally as it should but the root is simply not happening.
there were 2 android 4.3 updates for my device and i installed the latest (you can see the post title for the exact version)
after everything completed properly i simply tried CF-AutoRoot via ODIN and nothing is happening.
Till 4.2.2, it got rooted properly without such or any other problems.
Kindly assist me out in getting my phone rooted.
Regards.

Yep, I can´t re-root it again it seems the CF-Auto-Root-ja3g-ja3gxx-gti9500.tar its not working for the i9500XXUEMJ8 versión, well time to wait to an updated CF-Auto Root :crying::crying::crying:
I9500XXUEMJ5 root working (almost working)... i cant run some app, without root all apps working great ;/
Weird. I rooted using CF Auto Root after flashing 4.3 MJ8, it always worked! I never did OTA update though, always used Odin and full wipe.

The rooting worked so far for me. Have you enabled KNOX? They enhanced the security features and as far as I heard KNOX-enabled devices can't get full root. Verify whether it is enabled or not. I'm not sure whether the user enables it or not but that may be the reason. I'm also not sure whether this KNOX security really affects I9500 models. I9505 models are definitely affected.

Probably I never full wiped.
The apps and all other data is retained (normally all is retained when we update rom via odin).
Factory reset (full wipe) was never required earlier to get root to work.
Knox is not on from my side though I get some notifications always that some app tried to access something and Knox blocked that. But I guess that is something else because we need to manually activate Knox after opening the Knox app.

what was the solution? did you need to do a fullwipe? or used another method for rooting?
im on 4.2.2 MG9 and would like to update to 4.3 and have root without the know issue.
thanks.
Backup and Factory reset and cache clear after updating to 4.3
Then you'll get stock Samsung 4.3
Follow the same method to root (auto root) or alternatively flash super su via cwm/twrp/stock recovery.

Thank you. Will this trip the knox thing?
After using CF-AUto root you need to update Super SU App on first boot.
Then Open SuperSU app and choose to install SU Binary without using a custom recovery.
Then reboot.
Then install Titanium backup pro and use it to free all Knox related files.
There are 7 of them and you need to remove all of them.
Remember you need to install a custom recovery to install busybox. (atleast in my case)
Install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489234 via ODIN.
Once you are on custom recovery.
Use busybox installer to install busybox.
reboot.
You are done.

No mate.
Wait for a future update to trip that.
In the mean time, I'm trying to trip that since it isn't very difficult just lazy to try everything since everytime 1 thing fails, I need to restore the whole data and if takes much of my bandwidth.
Hope you understand.
And the device status will also remain custom.
P.S. Touchwiz UI from Samsung will hang on a later date due to some app compatibility issue (I'm not sure which app but I can tell a large set of apps and it will hang due to any one from that list) so it is preferred to shift to some other launcher on pre hand.

thank you both avineshwar and ajhavery.
i really wanted to update but i guess i am going to wait for a while. lots of issues seem to be happening once rooted. also dont want to lose warranty with the knox thing.
it seems the custom roms such as arrow and crash also have sound issues, FC issues on some apps.
i guess ill wait and see. maybe once the nexus 5 is out i can sell the i9500 and get the nexus 5.

Waiting is good.
Don't sell your phone though (for obvious reasons).
You've got much to explore.
When it comes to selling, you'll get money whenever you do that so keep that option as your last bet.
Custom roms aren't really preferred from my side until you are a die hard modification fan!.
Rooting is the only problem (which is solved now I guess) on the latest firmware.
Rooting won't do any problem, believe me (except warranty).

hello again, i am asking this question because i cant post in the development forum yet.
i downloaded 3 files from the OP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317105
the PDA, CSC and modem. all for MJ8, downloaded PDA is odex.
when i flashed 3 of the files with ODIN like shown in op my device. After i restarted i got errors for Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps .
i searched on google and did what was suggested, like clearing dalvik cache, resetting default apps, uninstalling the play store update etc.
the phone was unusable, the errors popedup every second.
I had to go back to the MG9 4.2.2 firmware.
What did i do wrong?
have you guys tried the method mentioned in the post. it prerooted and knox free 4.3 firmware.

Probably you want to upgrade to 4.3?
If so goto sammobile.com and find the latest firmware for your device from there, download and flash the same via odin.
You're now on 4.3!
Once done you can root from the auto root method by chain fire.

that would be the easiest and best solution but i am worried about the knox issue, losing the warranty and also having to sell the phone later on for a lower price.
