i couldnt find an existing thread about this but in case i missed it my bad
this just happened, i cant txt more than 3 charaters on my keyboard (ruuning leaked GB for about 2months?) without it minimizing i tried turning it off twice now
maybe i should sbf to stock anyways since the updates coming?
(although id like to keep my leaked verison)
any input is great!
you said it, SBF back to stock then reload...That's what I do when I get randomness.
Flash a new keyboard and use that one
Instead of flashing a keyboard I downloaded SwiftKey beta.... Its alright

That does not give you the stock android keyboard, that just gives you no keyboard at all. I have tried this quite a few times, but it doesn't install correctly for me.
Make sure touch input is disabled
I've installed many swype builds but when I go to Keyboard setting there is no swype option, swype is installed and selected but no option in keyboard settings to select the swype keyboard using mdeejay froyo sense 1.1 and hastarin kernel
Did you long press in the reply area to bring up input options?
Swype doesnt seem to work with any of the sense builds you just cant select it as an input method from the keyboard. It works perfectly in all stock froyo builds and can be selected by long pressing on the options button on the soft keyboard. The only stock build it doesnt work on is darkstones latest so I assume his version isnt based on stock.
Mark.
i use SlideIT keyboard for sense builds. not as good as swype in a few areas, but basically the same thing

I am able to use swype version 2.4.44.10912.t100 with froyostone sense v.3.2 and mdeejay froyosense series 1.1 clean.
working swiftly on both.
I cannot seem to be about to change the input method at all on a build based on Froyostone Sense V.3.2. Any ideas? I am pretty sure I installed the stock keyboard files right, but there's not even an option in Language and Keyboard to switch it.
You guys are genius, the long press on reply method allowed me to select swype and it shows but but I can't "swype", individual words work but not swype. I will be trying the above mentioned version to see if that works.
Quick update the Swype_v2.4.44.10912_WVGA_English_ANDROID version works a charm.
Thanks for the help guys, now for the battery life issue......
I've attached Swype (Multi Language!(even Dutch supported)) I already use this for months... It works like a charm. I used to have the same problem, it seems there are a lot of different versions of swype but This one will work on Android.
Go to settings - keyboard and turn on Swype. Then go to your massages click a message and press and hold the typing field, you get a bar wich says input, click that and change to swype This version works defenitely.
Please do not post warez on xda.
Hope this helps
Use HTC sync 3.0 on your PC or use a file explorer program(like Astro) on your droid to install the .apk file
Plz remove link swype is warez now as they closed the beta test and talked to site admin about it..

Well that will be removed from his Rom now, as swype is warez and you just alerted everyone to it being there... nice.. and a simple google search will find you a working version and not have to post links or alert people to which roms have it...

Hi there,
I'm looking for the Swype keyboard for the HTC Legend. I'm currently running a Froyo Rom. I tried one from this website, which didn't work so well, I don't know if it was me or the application because when I opened it, it told me that my trial period expired and that I should upgrade my Swype keyboard application. When I tried using Swype, it would show the line going across but it just wouldn't do anything when I go through the letters, I can only tap on the letters, which would be useless because I would just go back to the normal input method. Any tips? Ideas? Or links to a good Swype Keyboard? The one I tried using but didn't work was:

Thanks for the help.
I have that problem as well ever since the latest version of Swype and after I upgraded to Froyo. Not sure whose fault is it. I switched to Gingerbread keyboard since.
try this rar with version 1.6 swype apk file in it
EDIT: as asked by MOD
you can try to register on swype beta site, and get a newer version of swype. i'm using it, and it work like a charm.
I'mm using Swype since about 3 month. I registered to the beta-program, a friend of mine registered last week and got his version about an hour later. I'm using cyanogenmod 6.1 (Froyo) and swype works like a charm. I also tried cynogenmod 7 (Gingerbread), but there swype closes always.
Get rid of d/l links, or a MOD will. I won't report it, I'm just warning you. On XDA this is seen as warez, and Swype has asked that all download links are removed from here, and all other forums. This sucks, I know. Apply to beta test and hope.
Sorry guys
im on the official swype beta and running froyo...seems like everytime i reboot my phone i have to re-install swype? anyone else have this annoying problem?
Off to Gingerbread
I'm sorry if this is a little off topic, but can anyone please send me a working apk of the Gingerbread keyboard?
I'm on Blayo's ROM, 0.5. I've been trying the app in the market with no success. The app keeps getting FC as soon as I touch the keyboard.
Thank you very much!

I think that is the case if you install swype on sd.
Try to move the app to your phone.

I am using swype on my legend, every reboot you need to long press in a text box and select the android keyboard, then doit again and select swipe, its a known bug. From what i understand it is a problem with timing. Hope this helps.

I was using Swype on Froyo (CyanogenMOD 6.1) without problems. With Gingerbread (CyanogenMOD 7 experimental builds) I had some trouble, as the Swype-keyboard disapeared immediately. After uninstalling Swype and reinstalling it via Swype-Installer everything works again as it should.
2 seconds ago i click about phone and it says in running 2.2.27-blue-gingerbread. i went to take a screenshot and it now says im running 2.2 trigger 2.6 anyways trigger only user gingerbread keyboard and i hate it some one have swipe.apk that i can flash on the phone?

Look in here for the Swype beta thread or google that then go and sign up so you can download directly to your phone (make sure the email is the one you use on the phone) Then follow the directions and you will have the latest Swype

you can get swype many ways. you can sign up for swype beta at beta.swype.com and then use the installer included with Trigger to install it. Or you can use a program like ACS (link in my sig) to download a flashable Swype zip

Listen to the developer of your rom... the beta is better than the version on the stock Vibrant. You need to spend some time reading man, it would really help and I do not mean that to be rude.
After a year and a half of ownership, I finally rooted my DX today. (Well, I rooted it several months ago, too: the day before the Gingerbread OTA update...so I took that and lost root.)
I have CM7 on my rooted Nook Color, so I wanted to try something different on the DX; I chose Liquid (Gingerbread) 3.2. I like the ROM a lot, but no matter what I've tried (have spent the last 2 hours Googling and experimenting), I can't get the latest Swype Beta to actually function. It installs just fine, I can poke at it in the Keyboard option dialog, but it doesn't actually get selected.
So, first part of my question is, has anyone gotten Swype to work with Liquid 3.2?
Secondly, what Gingerbread ROMs do allow Swype Beta to actually work?
Thanks in advance!
Make sure the check mark is on the keyboard in
Settings>Language & Keyboard.
Then on any text-entry window...long press the window until "input method" comes up.
I've ran the Swype beta on liquid... No problem...
And you can get the beta to work on any rom...
If it's a rom with it already installed... All you have to do is uninstall Swype then reinstall your beta...
Maybe try clearing data for it if it's not selecting
We have nothing to feat but running out of beer
Yep, I have the beta. Nope, it would not work on Liquid 3.2, no matter where I selected it (there are at least 3 places you can enable it, and I tried all 3—several times!).
At any rate...got Vortex RC installed, Swype worked just great, and there are some things about it I prefer to Liquid, so I think I'll be sticking with it for awhile.
Thanks for the replies!
Depending on the ROM, you might need to follow the same procedures that are necessary to get the beta working on the stock ROM.

As I said above, I got it working fine in Vortex. If I hadn't, however, it would have been helpful to have provided at least a link to how to get the beta working on the stock ROM.
Tough to do through the xda app.
BTW, I got it working in Liquid.
