My G1 is running Cyanogenmod 6, which is Android 2.2, but I can't find the Google Music app in the Market. Why is that? My wife's Vibrant can see the app and I had to finally backup her install and transfer the apk to my G1 to install it. It would nice to be able to install it directly from Market so I can get updates.
I had/have the same problem. CM6.1. Market saying its not compatible with my device. So I googled and found an apk and (after a couple of trys and restarts) installed it on my G1. Uploaded some music. But the app is still not connecting to the cloud. its not finding any of the music that I uploaded. Not sure what to do.
I had zero problems installing music on my g1 w/ cyanogenmod 6.1. And music streaming works. But don't slide open the keyboard as an orientation shift will crash the app.
I was dumb. I just didnt have sync turned on for music.
Works great now.

Anyone know of they work on the Nexus One? I'm downloading them now.
Camera installed and works but missing the shutter button graphics. Meh
Music App works great.
Desk Clock fails to install. Could be a permission thing.
Gallery 3D FCs when trying to launch.
Cube Livewallpaper works but FC's when opening the settings
I just tried the new Music app this morning. It works. They have official signatures too so it works even on unrooted phones.
The music app seems nice, though it also seems a bit sluggish to me. It will take a few days to know if some of the Music apps annoying bugs have been fixed yet.
I haven't tried the other apps yet, maybe later today. I'm curious what has been changed.
camera nd music work fine (though you will replace the camera app entirely and the prog is a bit crippled regarding options)
gallery-app does not work for me (force closes)
Music works fine, but still has not implemented Gapless Playback and Album Artist classification.
It won't install for me. It just says "Application not installed".
????
is there a way to install these on an unrooted phone without overwriting the original system apps?
Just install as normal. You can't overwrite a system app.
Any remarkable improvement in the new camera app?
I can't find the “Recent” section with album previews and a scrolling wheel feel? Can you guys tell me how to get to it?
Thanks.

Im running stock gingerbread and the music player downloaded and is working just fine. Didn't try the other apps because reading the comments from other users they all had the same result as you.

Thanks for the feedback.
I tried re-installing the gingerbread update and installing the app again but I just got the same results. I had rooted my phone using SuperOneClick when it had Froyo because of internal space issues but when I updated it to Gingerbread there was really no need. It is my understanding the phone becomes unrooted after you install the update right?
I am unrooted 2.3.3, and as I said earlier, the music player won't install. I just get "Application not installed".
Is that what other people are getting?

I got the same error. My problem was that I had the updated music player (Gold Speaker Music App). I went ahead and reflashed the gapps, Giving me the old music app (Blue Speaker Music App), now the the music app installs just fine.
Note this will not replace the Blue Speaker Music App.
After the Leaked Music App was installed, I do not have the Music Sync option in the my Google sync settings that came with the Gold Speaker Music App. I have tried to update to the Gold Speaker Music App after I got the leaked music app working however the Gold Speaker Music App replaced both music apps.
Thought I would add: I was doing this in hopes that I would get the Jumper and the Sync option with the new Leaked Music App, just in case Syncing would start working. Maybe this is the key to get the Google Music Sync to work again and I hope someone smarter than me can figure this out.
Ah, a great thing about the new music player (just installed with no problem on my unrooted N1) is that it works with Voice Search's "Listen To..." option, where the old Froyo one doesn't. Very sweet. "Listen to Paranoid" brought the song right up, and it starts playing, no need to hit any keys. Will be great in the car.
Also seemed to grab an existing playlist I made on my phone using PowerAmp, which also makes me very very happy.
hi guys im using onecosmicsICS port rc3 at the moment, ive noticed there is a RC4 available, but it uses AOSP music instead of google music, (RC3 used google music), i was wondering if anyone could give me a detailed 'idiots guide' to completely removing AOSP music player and then replacing it with google music player, so that only google music player would appear in the app drawer.
thanks in advance
Hi
I have just installed rc4. I will check and report back

I had the same concern after flashing my phone ICSSGS RC4.2, I liked the Google Music Player more than the AOSP Music. Well this is what I did to get it back. First I cleared the cache of the AOSP Music in the RC4.2 then I clicked on Disable, You might get a warning pop-up you can ignore it. Then I Googled for ICS Music player and found a link then downloaded the apk file and installed it. I felt really happy to get the Google Music back but I had few issues with it. The player was too laggy and it took ages to load the Album Arts. So I uninstalled it and installed Market Enabler from the market and selected the country as USA AT&T. Then I opened the Market and Searched for Google Music, then I installed it from the Market. This version works flawlessly and it is the same as what was in the RC3.1. If you are in US or any other country which already has Google Music support then there is no need for you to install the Market Enabler. Just try searching for Google Music in Market first. Cheers...!!!
You should easily be able to replace the music player by doing the following:
Get Root Explorer from the Market.
When installed, open it and go there where the new music.apk is
(long press it and chose either copy or move)
Now scroll up to the top and chose "previous folder" until you're in the first possible.
Look for folder system and open it.
Look for folder app and open it.
First of all hit the button "Mount R/W" on top so that you can delete or add files in this folder.
Scroll down til you found the old music.apk, long press it and delete it.
Now just hit the "insert" button on the bottom and it'll put the new music.apk which you chose "copy or move" before into the app folder.
Restart your phone for the new apk to be shown in app drawer.
Just one more thing. In system/app don't delete or edit any other files than music.apk or else may your phone doesn't work right anymore
I just got a galaxy tab 2 10.1
and want to install Google Play music as I have on my phone, its stating it is not compatible, I Love the interface on it and plan to use the tablet in the car so it would look nicer with the full screen album art.
Anyone have any ideas on how to install or other alternatives?
Thanks
Nick
no one know?
I really dont want to have to wipe and install a new rom, my galaxy s2 is my play toy for that lol

I've found when trying to download apk's off xda on chrome it opens a video player.
Anyone else had his issue?
At first I thought it was VPlayer opening but it appears to be chrome ( but this is from looking at the opened apps)
So I went into application manager in settings and cleared chrome's defaults and it worked at first as it asked permission to download the file but it just opens the video player again...please help.

Paranoid Android v.2+
I don't know if it's at all related, but I have a similar issue when I try to follow links in Google currents, especially play store links, sometimes it just opens another random current article instead of opening play store.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I have a similar problem - sometimes when i click on a link in flipboard it opens OI-Filemanager instead of a webpage.
It´s Android not iOS! It´s not perfect...!

When trying to download an APK in Chrome it ALWAYS tries opening it with BS Player, rather than just downloading it. If I uninstall BS Player, Chrome works properly and just downloads the APK. If I user any other browser, everything works. It's driving me nuts! Any thoughts?
Using Chrome on Nexus 7 16GB Android 4.1.2, btw.
Any fix for this yet? It is very annoying.
Same problem here with chrome and Bs player. Any idea's?
Same on galaxy note II N7100.
Chrome opens vplayer.
I tried to removed the "Launch by default" settings in vplayer and chrome for the applications manager but still remains....
Having same problem on HTC One X... apk links in Google Chrome opens in Vplayer...
So, nobody can help us with this? I have a SGS3 with stock (yet unpublished) 4.1.2 and it works ok, but on my gtab with CM10 it is on permanent failure. Only solution to date is uninstalling vplayer, but I need it for other tasks so, no joy. Some help would be extremely welcome. Come on! It's Christmas
Sorry guys, this is just a "me too" response. This thread has been dead for 2 months.
I've just been coping the URL into the stock browser "Internet" to avoid, in my case, VPlayer opening....
So now with songza gone. I tried to using google play music on my Nexus player but it seems to be stuck on an old version. 5.9.1854R when the current version is 6.3.2317v. And I need that version to get the Songza playlist items that have now been incorporated into google play music.. but my nexus player will not update.. it tells me my old version is current. Any one else having this issue?
I have noticed the same thing. The only thing I was able to do to get the streaming playlists on the NP right now was to cast from Google Play Music on an Android device. Google should have planned this better.
Hmmm yea just realized this as well.
Ya I also just did a force install of the latest google play music APK and it just crashes when you open the program. Wonder when they will fix this...
Was coming on to post the same results.. Wonder if play services needs to be updated as well?
I just subscribed for a month and it showed up, so it seems to be just a paid service

I'm having the same problem. Works fine on all my other devices. I'm in Canada, in case this may be a regional thing.
My subscription expired. and access to the streaming gone as well
Hello guys
Try to clear cache and app data, worked for me. Using stock Android 7.0 and latest GPM version.
