Type in "*#*#4636#*#*" on the phone dialer. It works as I just did it on CM7NB86.

Hey guys,
I work in an area where my 3g signal is really weak and cuts in and out. This really effects my battery quite a bit. However I have been using that # *#* number to get into the phone settings and change the setting to cdma only which seems to put my phone in 2g mode (is that true?)..and thn back to automatic to get 3g back. My question is is it possible for some of you to develop an app or a widget which could do this with a single click?
Thank you

Couldnt you do that with power widget plus? I do something similar since I'll in a bad area as well except I use it to reset my data connection so to speak.

Well I have extended controls installed all I can do with that is turn off data completely..from what I gather none of the power widgets support cdma devices when switching between 2 and 3 g

You don't want to go 1x. The data rate is pitiful at 153 Kbps max.
I just use Bettercut and make a data manager shortcut and just turn off manually the internet saves more battery than 1x connection

There is an app on the market, called Network which takes you to that menu with the push of a button. No need to enter in all those #*#*#*##* digits
Another way is to use AnyCut to set a shortcut to the field test menu where all of those settings are available.
Thanks

What is the full name of the app? There are multiple apps named "network"

Check if your data network is connected. Check your apn settings. It will be somewhere inside settings - wireless and networks.

Tnx for answering.

I had the same problem when i had it. But as i remember it goes by itself (or maybe it's when i installed another ROM ^^)
i try on all i know and can't solve the problem. must wait unrewoked to finish do the job and than root the phone. what You think about CM7?
use dolphin hd / mirien / skyfire etc
Opera according to me is best for browsing. And Skyfire for viewing videos, they are buffered according to data speed.
Clean brower data then try again。。maybe it work。。

You guys do realize there's an app for this so you don't have to be typing secrets codes on your dial pad all the time. Its called phone info. Its in the market. Brings up the same settings.

Sorry I meant #*#*4636*#*# .. I can enter the phone info mode. My question is when i press the Enable QXDM sd log button, nothing happens.
Why doesn't it work.
Don't know, doesn't work on mine either, but what's QXDM log anyway?
Edit
The QXDM SD log is quite promising. QXDM is the Qualcomm eXtensible Diagnostic Monitor, which as far as I can tell can read this log to provide more detailed information about the performance of the radios

We had a thread posted about this a while back, but the OP needed to take it down.
Basically, the kernel needs to support it. Try it with the newer CM7 nightlies or rc4 I THINK they enabled it. If not, you'll need to build the cm kernel from source and enable it in the config.

can anyone help? Im currently running android 2.3.4 (CyanogenMod7.1) in dual boot.
I need to know how to access the gsm/umts band settings. I regularly get a 3g/H on my status bar when at home using windows 6.5 but struggle to get anything beter than 'edge' using android. are these settings available on this mod? if so can someone point them out to me please. If not is there an android build available that has this option?
many thanks
they're available, go to wireless and networks -> mobile network ( or something like that) and you'll see an option for 2g/3g

Are you looking for the way to reset your phone for GSM, CDMA coverage? Here is the link to a post to do that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9295533&postcount=2

yea i have something like that. its a use 2g only option to save battery. that's unchecked. there are no other options and the secret code doesn't work either.
Maybe try switching to another rom?
When i was on Typhoon's CM7, i had the option.

Let's start of with the basic... did you do a full wipe before you switched rom? ?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Most likely you need to restore your APN settings for your service provider.....settings are in wireless and networks
Yes I did a full complete wipe through everything but before I did the wipe everything was working perfectly fine.. But Now All I Get Is 3G symbol in the notification bar yet The Browser Nor MMS Works I've Tried Just About Everything To Solve The Problem Including Changing The APN Settings Still Doesn't Work Ugh I Just Got This Phone I'm Only 12 I Haven't Had This Phone For A Year Yet :/
