Don't think there is one

There's surprisingly little on the forum about the Orange Maps XAP. I think I did read about it once, and assume it was a no-goer, but I'm not sure. I'm on T-Mobile, so I think they ought to give me Orange Maps but that seems unlikely.

Turn by turn voice guided navigation is the only thing missing that annoys me on the phone.
It's coming with Mango in the fall but in the mean time you can get Drive On for free off the market place and I also managed to grab A to B before it was withdrawn for copyright reasons.

Try "Silver Navigator" in app store. Have voice directions. It's reciving updated now and then to improve, so should be pretty good by now.

Navigon
I have a version of Navigon that was shipped with some German phones. I have managed to get the UK maps and voices into it from the iPhone edition and it works surprisingly well. Of course the legal implications of this may be a problem, but I have taken a chance

How do you "love" your Universal?

It's Christmastime so Im posting a topic on peace and love...
I was originally planning to post a topic on whether there's such an application for the Univ where you can schedule your SMS... I had this app on the P9 and surprised my friends by scheduling SMS to them to send at exactly 12midnight..Was planning to do this later for Christmas.. but works great on birthdays too.. I wish I had that for my Universal/Dopod too. Then it got me thinking that it was like comparing an ex-boyfriend to a current one.. and it lead to me this topic...
Whew, what an intro!
Anyway, I wanted to ask if you guys had the same "feeling" too. This forum is probably dominated by guys and I wanted to know if my feelings are way overboard already. You see, I "love" my dopod. It's a gift from my husband so I dont think it counts as an affair. But i treat it as a really special thing. I handle it really gently. I almost broke into tears when a drop of water almost seeped through the speaker. I look at it once in a while. I dream of wonderful apps to install into it. I always compare it with my old P9 (now being used by my hubby) and tell it, it's far more superior. Sometimes, i think it smiles at me when I say that.. haha. I spent hours looking for the right case. The first one I found was too hard, the other one, too snug. When I found the right case, I still didnt think it was the best for it but at least it could serve its purpose. It's the last thing I see when I go to sleep.. It stays on my left while my hubby's on my right at night. It's the one who wakes me up in the morning with a soft gentle voice. I smile whenever I open it. I just love it...
Scary huh? I think my hubby's the same way with his xbox and gamecube coz Prince of Persia is the last he sees at night.. haha.. We are one weird couple, arent we?
Anyway, Im rambling here.. just wanted to know if you had the same way for your universal.. and how do you "love" it?
And also if anyone could tell me if there was an SMS Scheduler for the universal, that would be great too!
Thanks!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Angelica, i think you just managed to alienate even a few of us freaks with your degree of devotion!
When I'm programming, i can't sleep for hours mulling over unresolved issues. when my better half is talking to me I find myself phasing out and wondering how to make a better today plugin or somesuch. it's getting scary... but i digress:
Universal - it's beautiful but I barely use it, because i'm always just developing for it, not using it... i haven't installed any customisations yet (except vjlumos). i use my magician as my phone.
however, universal is a beautuful multifunction device. love? hmm. maybe not. but certainly the occassional lust! damn htc have too many devices coming out to settle down as a one phone man
if anyone has a spare Atom (i know not htc) let me know.
re sms app, if you don't find one, let me know. i used to take good advantage of the p900 sms scheduler for sickies at work, so i could sleep in
v
Let me start with wishing you guys a merry christmas!
My craze for the Universal started back in Aug, was thinking of getting a PPCPE for my work since I'm always on the outfield and seldom in the office. Was at that time thinking of buying P50 until a good friend of mine send me a link of a picture of Black universal
I start talking about it ever since.Call the local telcos and even ask some of my connections on news when universal launching in my country. Was so excited when I got rumours that O2 launching the Black beauty!! Then came the sad news that O2 not launching any HTC product in Asia as HTC wants their Dopod subsidiary company to monopolise Asia. What a thud on my head! Duh!
Then I decided to get a set from UK. search everywhere try to contact long lost friends whom happen to study in UK am getting sleepless nights and even nightmares...yes can you believe this nightmares!! Then a good samartian whom I came in contact with in UK. He help me making my dream come true. I am really greaful to him.I'm now in possesion and a proud owner of an Exec. The set have not leave out of my sight since! Msn,surfing, documents editing, send/receive emai-l free WiFi is everywhere here...too many" friendly neighbour "if you know what I mean.
I would to say thanks to Vijay555 for making my dream come thru

We are kindred spirits!
My obsession started at about the same time too.. I was saddened by the news that O2 is not releasing it in Asia.. Emailed them too... and they said I ought to settle for Atom. But I was dead set on the Universal as it really was the "universe" for me. I had a picture on it on my pc and it was my constant piece of motivation at work.. haha..
Finally got it and it really was a great device. Sure there are some bugs but I have accepted the fact that there's no such thing as perfect in this universe, much more in my Universe. And I believe in Kaizen.... continued improvement... I too, would like to say my thanks to Vijay for continuing to improve this wonderful device. Hats off to you.. and to us lovesick puppies, let the love continue!
Its almost Xmas day. Merry Xmas everyone, and especially for you, Angelika. I'm smiling when I read your posting, we can even talk about 'love' even though this is a techie forum. That's really great!
I have the same 'feelings' so that I reply to this posting.
My first love was not the Universal though. It was the XDA, the very first generation. We call it T-Mobile PPC here in the US. Its the best device I ever had in my life, and that's true even until today. It works almost in every condition and places I go everyday: office, car, airport, home, and at night it sits right to my bed. And yes, it does wake up every morning.
Then I tempted to replace my XDA with a XDA mini. Because we don't have XDA in the US, then I got one branded as i-mate JAM. Main reason was because its smaller and has bluetooth. After using it for 2 weeks, I wrap it as a gift for my dear little brother.
Since then I had plenty of pictures of the coming Universal. Could not wait until it was released. I read the review about it a lot, I imagined holding it, etc. Then I was so sad when they said it might not even come to the US as no wireless provider wanted to carry it. etc etc.
I bought it when finally it was here available in the US though it was so expensive. Even though its 3G does not work here. Even though we could not use the video conferencing feature. Even though ppl reported many bugs. But I show it proudly to ppl and talk about it everytime somebody asks about it.
After using it for a while, I found it really delicate. So that when I go to work I would prefer to carry my XDA instead. And when I got home I will use my Universal. May be its not that delicate as I said, but the point is that, I do not want anything happen to my Universal while I'm bringing it around. Is that 'the love' I feel for it? Nah... I'm just kidding.
Btw, last nite I dropped my Universal when I was sitting in a restaurant, and on my way home, I kept telling myself not to carry it out anymore. I did not cry though when it dropped, but I did inspect the detail: no scrath, SD card was pulled out due to the bump, and I think the swivel mechanism is a bit lose after that. May be just my feelings.
It took me few years to reach the point when my XDA handles everything I need it to do perfectly in all scenarios: when I work, when I play, when I drive, when I travel, when I sleep, etc.
In the case of this Universal, though its a pretty device and far superior to my XDA, but today, it still cannot handle all scenarios correctly. For example, something really funny I have everynite, my Universal rings me up every 12 AM because there is an All Day Appointment I set for the next day in Outlook. My XDA never does that to me and they're both synced to the same PC. If I think the same as you, Angelika, then I should believe the Universal tries to get more attention from me. Ha ha ha..
I love my Universal but my first love still my XDA. And my XDA will remain the best device I ever have.
Universal + "Love, Peace" =
Universal + "Cute" =
Universal + "oh chooo chweeeet" = eiyuuuuuu
Universal + "its muh byabeeee" =
XDA-Dev + (Any of above) = holyyyyyy helllllll no wayyyyyyyy!!!
"I think my BULLDOG kicks some baddd ass!" - Yeahhhhh!!!
lol
Cheers and merry christmas to all of you
S
I love my Universal as much as I love sheep........
Merry Christmas everyone
I am missing my XDA Exec as it is having some repairs hopefully it will come back all fixed
Merry Christmas and lets hope we have a little more Peace on Earth in the New Year
argh2000: how are you getting on with it? everything ok? you still want some more to complete your harem of Universals!? will email next week. Love the forum btw, coming on very well.
i've got some new releases coming next week, and for all you VGA universal lovers, I had an idea for a new app you might find useful. news next week.
angelica, have you tried vga yet? and did you get your launcher sorted?

I keep it charging on my bedside at night with the screen turned on. Sometimes I leave it with a movie "The Incredibles" playing till the next morning.
Yay! It's Christmas day! Although I got my Christmas present days ago, Im still very happy about it..
Vijay555, Im really looking forward to your new release... Im sure it's a great app again. Ehem....Could it be the sms scheduler I've been searching for? Either way, I know it's still something great. Ive installed your PhoneTools and I have them in my Today Screen but I seldom use it coz I still need to edit the messages I send anyway... and it's still defaulted at +1234.. Cant seem to edit it.. I uninstalled Clauncher and just stuck with SPBPocket Plus...
cktlcmd, wow! What a way to maximize your universal.. Im tempted to try the same thing..
dreamtheater39, I know I'm so faaaaar away from the techies here in this forum and the universal isnt probably meant to incite any cute or mushy feeling from anybody, as it is cold as steel. But hey, cant help it.. i really get this mushy warm feeling whenever I look at it. Now, aint that some kind of passion too? I bet most of the techies here have the same passion for a new program or when deciphering a code. I guess to each his own... But hey, I bet I made you smile, didnt I?
Confucious, sheep? Then, are u a shepherd?
Merry Christmas Everybody!

angelika: are you using ilauncher? go to my phonetools page on my site, and there's a subpage talking you through how to set up for that app.
i'm not working on the sms scheduler, but it's easy enough in principle. if you can't find one elsewhere i'll start, but next week will be busy with new release VJAccioPhone (that's not the _other_ idea had for VGA universal!)
hope you guys & gals are having a great xmas, best wishes from a very
wet but delightful italy...

Hey Vijay555, how is your holiday in Italy going?
My Exec is great, after upgrading the rom and plus some tweaking,it's flying  well maybe I'm abit to exagerating.. but i love my set
Looking forward for your new applications
Holiday in Italy is going well but looking forward to being back in the uk now! the free time is giving me too much time to think of new apps.... too many to program, i'm going to have to start programming full time!
The universal app will hopefully improve life for VGA thumb usage.
Another for general WM5 use bringing back a missing feature hopefully. No more details till I know if I can do it. Hopefully shortly I'll also get my blog going to discuss ideas, progress and general programming & improving/hacking the PDA
VJAccioPhone is a program I finished coding just before the holiday that had kept me busy for quite a few late nights. I've not released it yet, but search the board to find my 'preannouncement'. Hopefully it'll be very useful for us idiots carrying $1000 phones! Proper news next week...

ps while waiting for a table in a restaurant in florence yesterday I met a guy who asked about my phone (magician) He'd just bought himself a wizard. i felt embarrassed sounding so passionate about the phones! Freaks we are, one and all....
Hi Vijay! Merry Christmas too! Wow, what a way to spend your vacation--- still thinking of wonderful apps to share with us..
Your new app looks promising! If only I had the technical know-how, I'd be helping out too.. but then, Im a mere mortal, waiting for blessings from techie gods like you..
Im not using ilauncher. I've stopped tinkering with you phone tools.. Needed to rest for a while to clean the slate and reflect on where I went wrong that I still couldnt make it work like I want to..
dreamtheater39: Good thing, that was a joke.. I was seriously thinking non-geeks like me are not allowed..
Merry Christmas!
Thought about this a bit more.
I have a "love"/"hate" relationship with my XDA Exec. The hardware is great (keyboard, sceeen and all the wireless connectivity) but the software seems incomplete and on some areas very poor quality (why memory leaks on a device in 2005? memory management is not bleeding edge tech!). I really think if HTC could double the user storage and available RAM this could have been a device well ahead of its time. It is the first of a new genertion of wireless PDA/mini tablets. I really want to carry around all my business data (2/3GB) on this device, but the need to reset it a few times a day doe snot make the Universal a reliable business tool. Perhaps we'll get some fixes in the new year.

i have the same problem too I have a qtek with stock rom loaded....and the free ram slowly drops....and after a couple hours of use, its down to 10-15megs of free ram even with all apps closed
Hope they'd fix it soon....!
Another quirk...using it as a phone is crazy without the bluetooth headset...you need two hands, and complete attention to pull off the "Answer the phone" maneuver :x
Otherwise, its just awesome

htc shift review

hi
in
http://mobile-review.com/pda/review/htc-shift.shtml
you can see shift review unfortunetly (for most of us) that is in russian
but usually mobile-review.com put english translated version of it's own reviews in english side of their web site in afew days after russian version
recently pawel and his body (boy genus) said shift delayed until febuary
in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1811480#post1811480
pawel can you contact mobile-review.com and ask them to try your ways
for calling and phone capablity like removing snap view, etc
sorry for my bad english
god bless
boygenius also has one. so does bangelboy. boy genius im going to i believe send instructions on opening full wm6 tomm. last email said he would hit me up later which probably means tommorow.
That looks like a great review with a lot of info about the shift. I liked the photos
I hope there´ll be a translation soon.
Google language tools are your friend
http://translate.google.com/transla...htc-shift.shtml&langpair=ru|en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
Dear HTC,
I will buy the shift if a full Windows Mobile GSM PHONE AND GPS capabilities are included. Yes, I am shouting PHONE AND GPS.
Tim
gps is a 100% ,phone htc cant decide on. i sent boygenius the files to make wm6 full. i haven't gotten a reply yet if that did the trick or not.
here's some more "inside" of shift review....
http://jkkmobile.blogspot.com/2008/01/htc-shift-umpc-dissected_15.html
so much fun!!! but It says har to change ram.n looks like easy to change to SSD if shift can boot from other place.
HTC Shift is here..
I was in Taiwan today, I called HTC and they said they have the HTC Shift. I told him I wanted want, but they said they cannot sell it yet. So much for getting me excited during the few seconds
hi greatest kelvin
anything about phone capablity?making calls?
no voice calls
they told me it does not have voice calls.
We do know that is does in fact have the Qualcomm MSM7200 correct? If so then unless they altered the chip(unlikely) it has quad band voice capabilities. Just needs to get "unlocked". I'm confident our XDA hackers can figure it out and make the rest of us happy as clams.
I don't really care about voice capabilities. I use my loptop on the road with wirless card all the time, and I have a phone to make a voice call, but if you could open WM to full extend, and make it to access files stored on harddrive and SD card. That would be very helpful. So I wouldn't have to sync my cell (PPC) phone with computer all the time. Otherwise Shift has a nice forms and size, but that's it! At advertised prices it is MORE than just overpriced

I have read on many website that the SHIFT is A REAL PHONE ... but I think that it will be different depending on the country .. I think that France and Belgium could have phone, while Spain , England and USA will have only SMS.
Not sure about it, just trying to put the things together !
I'm a bit confused whether this has a phone or not. In this HTC Shift Review it says that the phone is not working.

the review is right.. the shift IS NOT A PHONE and there is no voice capabilities right now... you can only send and receive SMS nothing else.
but we think that we will be able to use it as a phone when we will have been able to make cooked roms
Thanks. It would be pretty odd when you're walking and you have a 7 inch phone on your ear. Of course there's always the head phones but I guess HTC is right in taking out the phone function on this one. Then again, there's always skype.

I think that they are totally wrong ... phone is what we all need in a computer .. have you never been listening to music with head phones and then get a call on you mobile phone ?
Sure, the shift is not a MOBILE PHONE... but it could be a computer WITH phone capability ... I will bring the SHIFT in my pocket and I would really love to use it as a phone .. They could have let the choice to the user ... why the user is just a buyer and not a customer ?

Looking for some advice please

I am due an upgrade on my phone and I am trying to decide between an iphone and a HTC HD2. I prefer the HTC as a phone but the apps on the iphone is making it a hard decision.
I am on the road constantly as a field technician so would like to have sat nav, music, games and videos on the phone to keep me entertained when I am in the middle of nowhere with some down time.
Is there anything that can be done to the HTC to make it more versatile like a jailbroken iphone? would the HTC be able to do what I am looking for or am I better going for an iphone?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer me some advice.

When you say "Is there anything that can be done to the HTC to make it more versatile like a jailbroken iphone?"
What exactly do you mean?
The HD2 is a very versatile handset from the start, and no need to jailbreak to get full functionality

thanks for the reply, what I mean is are you limited to what can be put onto the HTC? I have been into several shops stocking them and the staff dont seem to know much about them and keep trying to sell me an iphone, possibly because they are getting better commisson on the iphone?
I have looked around online for info as to what can be put onto the HTC but cant seem to find out much about it. applications seem to be very limited for what seems to be a better device than the iphone.
would the HTC be able to meet the criteria I have for the phone?

Heh - and then some.
You need to look for software for windows mobile, not HTC. The only real things you need to consider are that you need software that is fully touch compatible, it needs to be WVGA compatible (you can get away with a lot of VGA software too, as they mostly rely on the width in portrait, which is the same for both resolutions), and is it for the right version of Windows. Normally, you can get away with anything that is Windows Mobile 6.1 onwards, but that's not always the case.
Just google for windows mobile software and forget about jailbait iPhones. It ultimately comes down to whether you want a smartphone or a toy (I'm not actually knocking the iPhone - I think it's great, but it is a toy).
Incidentally, don't worry about MarketPlace too much. Most people think it's crap and there's a reason for that... it pretty much is. If you want apps wrapped up in one place, try OpenMarket. You can get it here...

thanks for that.
I have seen iphones running sat nav with lane assist and speed camera alerts, would it be possible to get the same kind of sat nav on the HTC and if so how much would it cost me?
Really dont want to go down the iphone route like half of the rest of the world has, would like to get something a little different.
The HD2 can do whatever the iPhone can...minus the ease of use [sometimes]. Sometimes it doesn't work out of the box because there are countless version of builds for manila and such...and only one for iphone. Pretty much the only gripe people will have is that they have to go and FIND whatever it is that they're looking for on the HD2, whereas everything is readily available on the app store for the iphone. You should take some time and play with each device and see what the pros and cons are for YOU. If it's too troublesome for you to dig through different versions of a program to play your video or whatnot, then it's better to get an iphone.

I have seen iphones running sat nav with lane assist and speed camera alerts, would it be possible to get the same kind of sat nav on the HTC and if so how much would it cost me?
Really dont want to go down the iphone route like half of the rest of the world has, would like to get something a little different.

in the uk we get co pilot bundled with the phone as standard. it works perfectly and integrates very will with the phones gps. i used to run tom tom (latest version) on my omnia, which is also a win mobile phone so see no reason why it shouldn't run well on the HD2 as well.
both tom tom and co pilot work with additional info such as speed cameras etc.
i am sure that google will be your friend, just search for navigation software windows mobile or similar and am sure plenty of results will ensue.

If it's too troublesome for you to dig through different versions of a program to play your video or whatnot, then it's better to get an iphone.

thats a fair point, the reliability of the iphone is worrying me a bit as well. Are there any common issues with the HTC phone?

Thanks mike, is the co pilot software a trial period or is it a full version that will last as long as you want it?

depends on the severity of the "issues." I'm on AT&T and have not encountered any kind of problems that some people have.
I don't have the faulty capacitive screen
I don't have any battery drainage issue (good for 2-3 days)
I don't have SMS not sending/receiving
I don't have SMS sending to the wrong person
The phone doesn't froze on me [unless it's my own doing]
etc etc..
So outside of you installing some rogue software/program that cause whatever issues that you might encounter, the phone itself is as perfect as a smartphone goes. I can't really pinpoint anything significant problem about this phone.

are most of those problems possibly just down to settings being incorrect or as you say installing something that the phone software doesnt like?

Some is hardware and some is software (ie, manila). Pretty much all of the problems I've listed have been solved ever since their early release back in Oct/Nov.
yeah, we all know that there are about 100.000 apps crusing around
but, let me say it, which one do you REALLY need?
my brothers got an ipod touch with about 100apps on it...but for everydayusing there are only a handful...
so i would say, that you can even find such apps for windows mobile...everything you really need...and not 100.000 apps, from which are about 98% useless imho.

thats another fair point, dont need lots of apps just some to suit what I am looking for. a decent sat nav and video/internet would probably do me.
mh...one advice from myself: ask also in an apple forum
i think nearly everyone here will tell you only good things about hd2 and winmo

HTC Trophy 7 forum?

I saw that there are forums added for some WP7 devices. I was wondering why there's no forum created for the HTC Trophy 7. (I get one this thursday and I really need some roms etc .. no, the official reason for asking is, I believe the Trophy 7 is one of the only devices HTC is going to launch in Europe, so I think a forum would be very appreciated.
I was about to ask about this.
I get mine Trophy 7 deliverd tomorrow, but it's vodafone branded.
It should work with my KPN sim, at least thats what the shop said, but I want to get rid of the vodafone branding in the software.
There also wont be any logo's on the phone itself, just the software.
I'm sure i can flash an official HTC rom on it.... but i'll need some help.
I do have some experience with flashing. been flashing my Touch Pro since the first month i got it (been 2 years already )
so please make an Trophy 7 related section for us guys from Holland
HTC 7 Trophy
Hello all togeteher,
I was going to ask exactly the same question. I think there are already a few people who would like to see a Forum which can be used for discussions etc. about the HTC 7 Trophy.
I too would also like to see this trophy section created. This and the HD7 (I believe) are the only wp7 devices available from htc that are unlocked so these should get the most attention imho.
Trophy forum coming soon! Today we added a couple more WP7 forums.
today i was the proud receiver of a HTC Trophy
Been playin with it for a couple of hours now, but it incredibly smooth.
I'm happy with it

Did you receive the Vodafone's branding device? Is there any logo on the device? How about the software? Is it about a vodafone theme that you can change or something permanent?
thanks in advance for the answer

your making me super excited!!!! i get mine on monday!!! monday morning, few hours from now. feel like a little kid before Christmas, havent had this feeling for a long time.
hopefully htc and MS fixed this whole xbox xtras app that crashes on htc phone tommorrow. wanna shake my phone and make my avatar fall down....ooooh its raining hailstones!!
sorry for the late reply..
it's indeed the vodafone branded one.
The guy from the shop called me about it. and i asked the guy if there was any branding on the phone itself and he confirmed that there is no branding on the phone.
So when i received it, i was quite anxious about it, but there is only a bootscreen with the vodafone logo, a tile with vodafone (wich i deleted right away) a vodafone app (also deleted) and the manual setup of my APN settings (just had to fill in portalmmm.nl for my Hi account ) and thats it.
Ow and the tiles where red, but adjustable to your prefered setting (mine is blue right now)
@levi3man: xbox live and avatar are working fine, but i replaces my regular live account with an WP7 exclusive one because my contacts from my regular acount is a mess, and there are some people in there my girlfriend wouldn't be to happy about .
So i made an new account with no avatar at the moment.
g'day there.
just wondering if you can tell me if you can swap out the microsd card in the Trophy? this has been rumoured on a few sites.
cheers,
milka
I got mine from vodafone NZ and it has absolutely no branding at all, not even the common vodafone start up screen. Perhaps they didn't have enough time to flash it given NZ was the first place in the world to release a wp7 device?
Hey guys just wondering if someone could let use know what the screen is like under direct sunlight? Although it is not that important I would still like to know what I am getting myself into.
I currently have a desire and it's quite poor in direct sunlight - just for reference.

It's usable under direct sunlight, a lot better than my nexus ones amoled display. Perhaps comparable to my old 3gs and maybe a bit less than samsung's super amoled displays.
The SD-card is not in a separate slot below the battery or something so you can't remove it.
I haven't had any issues under sun-light, it's readable and clear enough.
the only thing that bugs me now is that the notes app does't work after the HTC update... Not that i'm using it but still
still playing with the phone, and as i go along, i'm discovering new features.
With windows phone 7 attached to your winlows live profile, you can do some neat things, at least i think their neat
You can map your phone, and it shows on a map the location of the phone, and in my case it was spot on.
You can ring your phone, wich lets your phone ring, so you can find it if you lost it in your room.
You can lock your phone, where the app asks for an 4 digit code to unlock the phone, and an optional message. With this app you can lock your phone from a distance and on wake (power button press) the phone shows an message that the phone is locked or your optional message. and after an reboot the phone still stays in locked state. The only way to unlock it is to enter the 4 digit code. It's still possible to make emergency calls with it.
And the final thing you can do is erase your phone, revert it to factory settings i guess, because i didn't test this part

It doesn't feel plastic at all. The glossy finish gives it a sort of "industrial design" look. Also, the coating on the back gives it a very sturdy grip.
All in all I like the minimalistic design of this phone. It's one of the best designs I've ever seen from HTC. But of course that's a matter of taste.
No scratching of the lens/flash. The lens/flash/speaker compartment is a bit raised, so when it is laying on the table it doesn't lay completely flat. The angle is just enough to prevent scratching.
bootup logo
I've got my Trophy with a boot up logo from Vodafone. Is there any way to get rid of that bootup screen?
Thanx in advance

sent back!

just sent back my s3, cracking phone but went to orange from 3 ( who i have been with for about 7 years problem free) & there customer service is shocking , cant get the sat nav swappable , vioce command keeps saying network error & i cant call orange to talk to anyone as they put you on hold for ages, took me 3 days to get through , just glad im still in the cooling off period & rreturning it now, saved a 2 year contract , might just get it off 3 now

Orange are crap I agree they are the best at screwing up phones with there bloatware, I've been with them for over 10 years but on a business tariff so I now get through straight away.
Beware if you got with three I was going too until I found out as of the end of may three don't do phone insurance anymore.

Really? After reading all 14 of your posts, I realize that I can't seem to dumb myself up enough to understand your poorly written thoughts. I have taken the liberty of quoting my absolute favorite of all your well thought out posts below. I think the use of "sound so stupid" within it is priceless.
You're definitely proof that reproduction has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence! How else would you have grandchildren?
Do the forum and yourself a favor and spare us your remarks so as to not "sound so stupid !!!"
Do your grandkids a favor and never attempt to read them a bedtime story!

hi, firstly may i say im sorry for asking these questions as to you guys they will sound so stupid !!! after giving up my trusty se k800i after many years & pressure of the grandkids to move with the times i now have a htc wildfire ( didnt even know who htc were untill now !) although i seem to be getting to grips with it ( well kinda lol ) i am quite dissapointed that there wasnt a better instruction manual in the pack, i only got a quick start guide, so these are the things i would like to know
text message- how do i forward a recieved message? i cant find the option anywhere ?
is there a option to get up all the text boxes? ie: sent box, recieved, drefts etc..
locked- is there any other way to wake the phone up apart from the on/off button at the top? i have problems with this now as i bought a gel cover & its makes it harder to use with 1 hand !
glowing buttons- is there anyway to have the 4 buttons (home, menu etc ) on the bottom glow when the phone is in use? these are impossible to see in low light & i am sick of hitting the wrong 1 !!
apps- is there a app for viewing tv on the wildfire? bbc i player , catch up tv etc, i looked on the net & skyfire seems to be the app but when i search the market its not there ?
anyway , that will do for now lol, im sure i will be back with more stupid questions soon lol, i quite like the feel of this phone although i was very dissapointed that it will not do video calls as this is a feature i used quite a lot on my old phone as i work away & chatted to the grandkids & they showed me stuff they had made at school etc, its my own fault for not checking i suppose, i just assumed, if old phones can do it surely the cutting edge phones can, i was wrong lol, anyway thanks for letting me drone on !!!

:good:
they were just questions about a new phone i had purchased, i don't do gizmos & thought i would just ask on here as there were a lot of people on who knew what they were talking about, after all i thought that was the idea of these forums to pass on knowledge & if you don't ask you don't learn, obviously i was wrong as there's people like you who know it all, anyway i see from your profile that your a usa marine, i worked along side them many years ago when i was a engineer in the royal navy & if i remember correctly when i said “good morning “ to them they were stuck for a answer! so i fully understand why you get excited over a new screen protector, anyway thanks for your invaluable help & i think i will just leave it there!
