Internet problems

Ok so it seems I am having a problem with Wifi and Data. I am currently on T-Mobile and my phone seems to be really slow surfing the web or doing anything over the web. I am using T-zones and Wifi. At home when I have wifi on and t-zones on... its still slow. So I turned off T-Zones and tried just Wifi and it is still slow... Also when I try to surf it won't surf... Am I setting the Wifi up wrong? I haven't touched anything and now it seems the wifi is unreliable...
Any one have any suggestions?
I have heard that not all routers are compatible, some of the older ones just dont want to play nice... Perhaps you could see if it works properly on a public hotspot somewhere like MacD's or Starbucks or the library or something?

[Q] Overseas Internet Calling?

Heading to Afghanistan this week. Does anyone know if wi-fi calling works there and will I be charged roaming fees? If connected to wi-fi, will 3rd party messaging apps work? How about skype, tango, qik or gtalk? Any info is appreciated.
The problem with using wifi calling is you can't connect / use when in airplane mode with wifi turned on. You have to have sim card on with wifi, which I was told may or may not incur roaming charges. BUT any call you make with wifi calling on will be like you making a call from the states.
When I went to a foreign country, I use tango, what's app with wifi, and airplane mode. That is completely free.

I was in Europe earlier this year and it worked great for me. I had my T-mo SIM in, mobile network disabled, WiFi calling app set to WiFi calls only and it was working great on all WiFi networks I connected except one - the modems of one of the local DSL ISPs seemed to have ports used by the WiFi calling closed so I was getting connection errors in the WiFi calling app. But this was one single provider and I guess if I'd researched it I could have fixed it in the modem settings.
I don't know anything about the other options.
Skype and Gtalk work fine on WiFi. If your communication can be done at specific hours (which I presume is correct) - Skype and Gtalk are good options, and even video calling on them is good enough and doesn't require much bandwidth usage.

How to get WiFi Calling Feature

I just noticed i don't have WiFi Calling in More networks,
can someone tell me how to get it?

Force WiFi Calling

I am less than thrilled with the WiFi Calling update, it looks like it only uses WiFi for calling when there is no cellular connection. Problem is, most of the time my cellular connection is so low I fade in/out during the call.
I have read that you can force WiFi Calling by turning on Airplane Mode, then turning WiFi back on. Sometimes when I try to make a call with Airplane on, WiFi on I get an error that prompts me to turn off Airplane Mode.
Does anybody know how to get around this or what is causing it?
Mine will default to WiFi calling when the WiFi network is good enough. If the WiFi network seems spotty or poor, then the phone won't use WiFi calling. If I have great 4G and WiFi available at the same time, the call is usually made over WiFi.

Did you change any settings to get it to prefer WiFi Calling?
And you're on a SM-G930V on Verizon in the USA?
Not that I recall.

Strange things about hotspotting after latest update

I noticed that if you are connected to wifi, instead if disconnecting wifi when you turn the hotspot on, you can now hotspot your wifi back out. Perfect if you have to pay to connect to wifi. Means you can share that wifi connection.
I also noticed that if you connect to wifi and activate the hotspot, wifi calling and SMS operate as if you are connected to a cell Network. I had expected wifi calling to work when wifi calling is active, but for some reason, you can also send SMSs ONLY when the hotspot is on.
I cant figure out why either if these two fantastic things work only when the hotspot is on. What is the connection?
It means that if you are somewhere where there is only wifi (and obviously no cell service), you can hotspot to all your devices from your phone, take calls and send SMS. That's something new since the update.
