This morning my phone crashed while I was trying to run gReader. Upon reboot, the phone would just hang at a black screen after the initial SGS Logo.
I decided to recover and put the device into download mode, launched ODIN and tried to flash JP3, JM5 and JG8, all to no avail. At the reboot after ODIN is complete I get the Samsung recovery utilities and then an error message as follows:
Update media please wait ...
E:Can't Mount /dev/blk/mmcblk0p1 (invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media: Can't mount SDCARD:
copy default media content failed
Trying to format the internal SDCARD from Recovery Utils gives the same error
I am stuck! Any ideas?
that's beyond me.
you got into download mode, that's good
but when flashing you get that error, that's not good
did you use the 1 click lag fix?
never mind i see your siggy you were on Modaco rom... hmm...
try Odin-ing a stock ROM, and see if that fixes your phone?
then Odin back whatever is your custom ROM
You are further through the flash process than I was when I ran into problems, plus have a Vibrant over a European Galaxy S - but I'd still try a 'blank' flash with Odin. Enter download mode, connect up and let Odin run without any files linked in. This got me back into the phone and then allowed for a proper new fw flash thereafter.
No matter what I did I could not get the internal SDCARD recognized. A trip to the Bell store and a DOA swap and now I have a new device.
Any update on how to fix this?
I've been using CM11 nightly on my i9500 and probably due to a lot of **** I'd done to this phone recently it has become quite unstable so I decided to wipe everything and do a clean installation when I remembered there's a way to enlarge internal storage up to 11.8G by flashing PIT, BL, AP, CP, CSC from I9500ZCUCMG1.
And I tried and it failed. So I only flashed PIT. Then I tried to flash BL and I see "SW Rev. Invalid magic string." on my phone. I googled it and it seems to be that Odin doesn't allow flashing an older version of bootloader. So I tried to flash I9500ZCUGNH4 but still fails with messages like "sboot.bin", "NAND write start fail".
Then I tried to flash a regular PIT provided here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2269941
Then I tried to flash I9500ZCUGNH4 again, and this time it works. However when the device try to boot, it stuck at logo. I tried to go into recovery and it says:
E:failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
can't mount '/data'(Invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
can't mount '/data'(Invalid argument)
Now I ran out of ideas and came here for help. Help plz. Thx in advance. :crying:
Almost forgot, I did a FULL 14.6G backup (probably all partitions) using method from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/general/guide-phone-backup-unlock-root-t1420351
Is there any way to restore it now?
Ok i am trying to fix my samsung galaxy s4 for-ever now.
When i go into recovery it says:
E: failed to mount /System (invalid argument)
E: can't mount /System (invalid argument)
then when i try to install stock firmware back it gives me this message:
Secure Magicode check fail: boot
when i try to add pit file into that it says
Secure check fail: pit
Secure magicode check fail: boot
Whenever i start my phone it just freezes on the logo
and i tried to do emergency recovery in kies but it doesn't detect my device. But on the ODIN it detects it but doesn't work
HELP!!!
i think i am progressing towards this!!!

Hello guys!
Just wondering if someone has a solution for my problem.
I have a G930F Phone that wasn't rooted. After the original Samsung update it just bricked itself over night.
I tried to do Emergency Recovery in SmartSwitch which did not help. Also tried to downgrade/upgrade the phone to get it back on.
The problem itself is that it just stuck in the Samsung logo and wont start up. FRP is on (idk why I did not turned it off)
In Android Recovery I have the lines :
No Support SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3
E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
dm-verity error...
I tried almost everything I found on the internet.
Just wondering how an unrooted phone can brick like this from a software update...
I hope someone has a solution.
Have you tried booting into recovery/download mode?? Turn off the phone (power+volume down) then to get to download mode, you hold volume down + home + power. Recovery mode is the same but with volume up instead of down.
If you can do this, you'll need some things to flash stock:
Odin: http://odindownload.com/mobile/
Firmware: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/ (not sure what one you need, so you can pick from your location and version you want)
Some people can boot into recovery but not download mode for some reason. If this is your case, there are two methods I know of:
- select the "boot to bootloader" option and use Odin to flash stock.
Or
- Select update from sd card (I'm not sure how to do this, never done it. Idk if you can use the Odin files or not)
My s7 has turned off suddenly and does not turn on anymore in any mode or button combination, i tried all combinations. I plug the charger and there is no charge signal, did it burn the mother board?

Thank you for your response. I can go into download mode. I tried to go to stock like 10 times. New fw, older fw, 6.0.1 fw, only ap files and any other combination. Also tried to delete cache.img and flash first system.img and then boot.img repacking with tar.md5 repacking Tool.
Nothing helped

Does it give you an error?
Also, if you were on nougat you will have to find another nougat firmware to flash. Idk if it's the same for the international version as it is for the snapdragon version with bootloaders. You can't downgrade on snapdragon. Do some research on that and make sure you're not flashing a older bootloader

Please look in my first post, there are the Errors. I have the German version with the exynos CPU. Normally i can downgrade with the full 4 tar.md5 files.
If you mean errors in Odin, then no. It always flash without problems.

Dm verity is in the boot.img. Have you tried a whole new firmware?
Try this??:https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/DBT/download/G935FXXU1DQG1/183751/
It's Germany, make sure to flash csc (not home csc)
From the errors it seems like your efs partition has corrupted, you could try to find a PIT file and flash that through the PIT section in Odin, its a long shot at best as your efs partition (as far as I know) holds vital device information.
The last Update killed my s7 edge totally. The Update killed something on the Mainboard (Maybe was faulty from the beginning as i had 1-2 Reboots a year ago already). Had to send it in.
Couldnt even get recovery to Boot in the end.
Is it bootlooping and getting Hot?
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers Legacy app

Hey
I had exactly the same problem with the Galaxy S8. Odin downloaded the software version and a few days of fighting but no effect ... Odin showed an error and the phone was still cold. The Android programmer helped me fix the phone. I found on the internet his announcement from "raises" the software. This service cost 10% of the S8 price and he did not tell me how he did it: / but the repair is possible so do not give up!
Since then, I use the serial software on a daily basis and I only use my previous S7 edge to play with the administrator functions
Good luck!
Hello there!
Is there any way to fix this problem : Failed to mount /efs (Invalid Argument)?
I have no backup of /efs.
I can still flash things to phone.
Please help!

Try flashing right modem through recovery, or use Odin to flash stock rom or you can try kies to recover it.
Thanks for your reply.
Currently got stock rom on phone but it won't boot, it's stuck at Samsung logo.
Device is rooted and got twrp.
Kies is stuck trying to figure out the device that is connected. And when i try recovery of firmware or something of the like(Kies is installed in french) says this model cannot be reinitialized.
Also like i said i have no backup, so no recovery key for kies either.
But the internal sdcard is recognized by Windows.
Don't know what else to do. I had no problem flashing modem.img flashed OK and such.
Is it normal when in recovery mode when i run a graphics test it says error?
Is it just a bug from the recovery mode?
Hoorray! Found Something that worked for me i'd like to share with you. Thanks to this post : https://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/development/updating-t3210266
Many thanks!!
