Gingerbread!!!!!!

Just Recieved the OTA update prompt for Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread!!!! Can someone show me how to upload this to the website?? I'm taking pics with my Evo and will upload those soon.....I'm so excited!!!!!

whoa. keep a adb logcat running it will show the url from where it fetches the .zip file.
If you install aLogcat form the market you can look at the log file generated.
Somewhere in there will be the link to the update file from Google's servers.
If you update before looking at the log, the information will be lost.
Downloading alogcat now.....

The internet has jaded us all.
I am not sure if you need to start the download first or not. But when the download starts the actual link to the file will be in the log.
So you could just write down every web link you see in your log.
If u guys dont believe me then I wont post it after all.....just tryin to help the community out....

I believe you and I want the zip also
If someone gets the update, can you please do this before you accept it. and post the logcat.txt? Please this may help rooting.
How to get the URL for the OTA zip the following way:
Run logcat on the pc and accept the update on the phone
$ adb logcat > logcat_accept.txt
This will sit like this (it continues to log output into the output file) until the phone reboots. At that point, the adb logcat job will terminate, and the name of the zip file will be indicated in the logfile in a message similar to:
W/SystemUpdateHelper( 64): !!! REBOOTING TO INSTALL /cache/
You should see a link in the file like https://android.clients.google.com/u.../partner/*****
Thank you for whoever can get this done

There are no videos that I know of and your question is very vague. First of all, have you put your phone in USB debugging mode? If so, then try other USB ports and if that doesn't work try a different computer. That is the only help I can give you. If you are using the oneclickrootandrecovery made by Drockstar it is rock solid and very very easy to use.

Wow, just wow. Please don't respond to any more questions. Heimdall is the program for Macs but most people I've talked to cannot get it to work. If you have a newer Mac and want to continue flashing I would recommend getting a copy of Windows and using it to use Odin.

Rooting questions

So, I have 2.3 via the store and am considering going back to 2.2 so I can root and use a different ROM. The problem and my reason for posting is I cannot get sdk to install properly. I run it and it tries to update everything but fails and won't allow me to connect to my phone. Now do I need temproot before this will work or am I not installing it correctly? I have read a bunch of tutorials but haven't seen this issue come up. All help is appreciated.

have you tried installing just the ADB drivers? TrueBlue_drew has a great walk though. Link in my signature.

Windows requires administration privileges to download and install things on the SDK. Try right-clicking on the icon and selecting Run as Administrator.
OK, couldn't get it rolled back (lady was retarded on the phone) so what do I do now? I ran as admin and it looked for updates and such but found no virtual drives. Will anyone be willing to walk me through this over the phone?
OK! Got adb working now. How do I roll back? LOL I will be searching but in the meantime if you wanna add something, I would appreciate it.

Adb unable to detect device running 4.2.2 ROM

I'm currently running a 4.2.2 ROM both on my Razr M and Incredible. Whenever I run adb devices, it will not list anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
USB is broken on 4.2 for now. Try restarting while plugged in, it may recognize it then. Make sure USB debugging is on too

Thanks for your suggestion but that is what I have been doing for most of the day before I turned to this particular forum to ask. And so far any suggestions I've found have not yielded anything positive for me. Drivers are up to date and I have version 1.0.31 of adb. Debugging has been turned on. Are you on a 4.2.2 ROM on your phone? Are you able to plug in your device to a PC and run adb devices and have your particular phone show up?

No problem. I think that's an issue with the USB drivers on the phone... Not really sure why it works when you restart but it's a minor annoyance.
