[Q] Recovering Deleted Data - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

So without there being a mass storage option what is the best way to go about recovering data like lost pictures and what not?

bumping this im keeping my tablet turned off till I get an idea for this so I dont write over the data I lost so cmon I know someone has to have an idea for this.

plug ur tab into your computer as mass storage mode, download/buy "recover my files" then recover your files

not sure if im doing it wrong but I have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from Google IO and when I plug it in I get no options for mass storage or anything just Keis which then the recovery software doesnt work on from what I have tried.

Recover Internal Storage

I have a omnia 2 and have lost my 16GB internal storage and have tried everything to get it back. Tried nustorage manager and it dose not see the MMC card, tried connecting it as mass storage just so i can format it, tried connecting it to unbunto to see if i can get it to recover it and have no luck. In windows it detects the drive but fails to start it so i can format it or anything.
Is there any chance i can repair the phone without sending it in?
I just woke up one morning tried to access my music s2pwas taking it time to load and knowing the crappy omnia i just rebooted thinking the phone froze and lost the storage.

[Q] Can the Acer a500 support any other Android OS released except Honeycomb or ICS?

hello, I accidentally deleted the /sdcard folder and now it appears that i've lost all my data. So, i've deleted the folder by mistake from windows explorer and the tablet "auto created" a new one and none of my data shows up. I've tried about a dozen recovery programs but none will recognize my tablet. How can I make it show in Windows 7 like a Removable Device and not like a Portable Media Player. I kown it's more of a windows question but maybe someone else here made the stupid mistake i did and kowns how to slove my problem or please send me to a forum were I can get some help.
ps: I kown not to write anything on the tablet's storage until I solve this.
ps2: i don't actually have a sd card, all my data is on the internal memory.
Thank you!

Had some free time lately and did some research and I found out that the reason I can’t access the internal storage through software like recuva or other data recovery sw, it is because Honeycomb uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) instead of UMS (USB Mass Storage), like android did until honeycomb and data recovery software doesn’t work on MTP, or at least none of the ones I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a few. So, I decided to change the thread question to: Can the Acer a500 support any other Android OS released except honeycomb or ICS (I read it uses MTP also)? and: Can the internal storage be accessed by a recovery software on Linux or any kind of OS? plus: Did anyone manage to recover data from internal storage through any method?
Ps: I don’t need a full working rom, just the touch screen or a mouse so I can mount the internal storage.
Ps2: I would have tried it myself, but I don’t have the knowledge(all I could think about was to download the rom from other tablets that run on 2.3) or the time to joggle with roms on my acer so if any of you developers out there could help me I would be in great debt to you.
Have you tried these apps? (seems you need root though)
I don't know if they will work, but just trying to help you out (I too have deleted my internal memory, but it always happened while ROM flashing... forgot to back up my files first).
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.undelete
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hexamob.hexamobrecoverypro
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hexamob.hexamobrecoverylite
(^ the free and possibly not as good version of the one above it)
Also, on the W7 computer, have you tried Recuva?
Again, not sure if it will work, but I have used it for memory cards, flash drives, etc and it worked really well.
I think the biggest challenge though would be the way that the computer reads the tablet. It doesn't appear like a normal external USB device.
So, I think that an app will be your best bet. I think too that Android keeps apps*, OS*, and user data (your pics, movies, documents, etc) on separate partitions, so installing an app shouldn't overwrite any of your old stuff. I am only 90% sure of that though. :/
*It may actually be apps + OS
Were you rooted??? Did you make a nandroid backup??? If you have a nandroid back up you can restore just the data partition from recovery and you will be current as of your last backup. Another major reason to root your device.

on your tablet then try to access your files using your recovery program on your pc. If you have questions about samba server look here.

My thoughts were that Samba acts as a server and would be used with wifi to show as local network share on your pc. Then to use a program to recovery your files. I think that idea is not possible after further checks. Seems none of my recovery apps will recover from network drive. Some will save to Network drive though, but that doesnt help you.
One of the apps from the market spexwood suggested may be your only hope.
I would suggest getting an sdcard and save your photos and videos on it.. much easier to recover if erased.

[Q] Galaxy s4 i9505 any way to enable USB Mass Storage Mode?

Okay so first of all, i am very happy with my galaxy s4. i used to have galaxy s (very first one) and the galaxy s3 for a month but returned due to random reboot issues. anyways, what bugs me the most is the lack of USB Mass Storage Mode. I know MTP has some benefits, that for example you can listen to your music on the phone while you mess around on the file system through MTP. But still, the disadvantages are worse in my opinion.
so first of all, copying to my s4 with mtp is slower than copying to my s1 with ums.
whenever i try to copy a video file, windows always asks me if i really want to do that because my device won't be able to play it (wtf?)
and some other minor quirks but still, enough for me to want to go back to ums
So things I tried (of course my devide is rooted):
SGS3 easy UMS, didn't work
sadly, su, setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage, reboot didnt work either
so any other ideas would be very helpful

if you go into the app store there is usb mode switches which allow you to do exactly what your talking about, your phone needs to be rooted but that is not a problem as you said ur is rooted, just type in usb in the search bar as there are literally hundreds, i have not tried these yet because i have not yet rooted my S4 as am not sure which is suitable for my version, hope this helps a little maybe ?

I have tested all of the USB Mass Storage programs from the Play Store. But none of them actually works.
I can get it to mount the microSD card though, but it's not possible with the internal memory atm.

really, that's a pain, have you tried the sgs3 easy ums apk. link below or is it the same thing, i always had usb mode enabled on my s3 but actually never really noticed about it only been for the micro sd and not for the internal storage.
this is what i used on my s3 but it is ok for other samsung models as well
http://tutznet.com/81-enable-mass-storage-mode-samsung-galaxy-s3/.
P.S, unrelated question. your s4 when you bought it,was it locked to a specific network? i mean like the firmware? do you have custom rom or new firmware on it? are you usa or uk or from other country, i am on "three" uk network, and am wanting to root and custom firmware but could do with advice about which roms can go on to a firmware specific phone.
*UPDATE*
I JUST READ ON ANOTHER FORUM THAT THIS DOES EXACTLY THE SAME THING only mounts the sd card not the internal storage, Sorry

The reason why the internal memory doesn't gets mounted is probably because the internal memory is located at /storage/emulated/0 or /storage/emulated/legacy now. And this is not the same location as it have been on the Galaxy Note / Note II and Galaxy S III.
So someone have to make a new USB mount program that mounts that location.
as I wrote in my first posting SGS3 easy UMS doesnt work at all for me. Not even the external Micro SD. Am I doing something wrong? External would be a big help. Internal I can do without it
I hope this gets sorted out because it's really annoying to click OK for warnings and wait a lot longer with MTP.
MTP is sux and SLOW ! , it changed file created date , I can't see Linux hidden files (names start with "point")
, at least External SD card should be with an option to use as USB Mass Storage !.
I rooted my phone just for this option, and even root didn't help
I have tried SGS3_Easy_UMS_v1.2beta2.apk and it doen't work well (PC can see disk , but not what inside disk)
All I can do is to remove external SD card and connect to card reader, but it's annoying !
also have tried some apk, nothing works...(I have I9500)
so i guess no news reagarding usb mass storage mode?

CyanogenMod 10.1?
With my SGS2 I used the program Android Commander on my pc to access the root files of my phone.
Somehow Android Commander doesn't recognize my rooted S4.
I am looking for a way to connect my rooted S4 to my pc and access the root files. Would anyone know how to do this?
Just plugged in a 32gb usb drive - it found it immediately on WanamLite rom and automatically opened My Files app. Never did try on stock rom, tho...

I have used it and it works flawless
Just wanted to confirm about S4 thay you can't plug in to USB and have the storage displayed. my s3 shows options to access phone and card when ive connected to pc but missus's s4 just shows the name of the phone and comes up with an error message. drivers aren't installing for it either so there may be other issues
cheers

Install that. Then install busybox from the market. Then open BusyBox, click the install button within the app, now plug your phone in, go back to the UMS enabler and choose USB Mass Storage. Your micro sd card will now work.

It is simple, you go to the USB icon in the status bar, and select Camer (PTP), it automatically unselects MTP modus.
Now your S4 acts as a storage, you can access phone and SD card from the PC
Edit: I was too quick, I can see folders but not all files.... sorry, just got my S4 today

[Help!]Is it possible to mount S4's internal SDCard in USB mode?

I accidentally deleted some important photos which stored in my S4's internal SDCard. So I connected my phone to PC through USB cable, and plan to run some recovery tools from PC to get them back. However, when connected, my S4's identified as MTP (portable media device) rather than USB Mass Storage, therefore those recovery tools can't do anything.
I googled the net and found some apks that help my phone to switch between MTP/USB mode, however this method only works for external SDCard.
Any ways to retrieve accidentally deleted files? Thank you in advance!
p.s. I do heard about that flash TWRP in will help the PC identify the phone as a USB Mass Storage Device, is this true? If it's true, how do I do it?
Thx!!!

Recover from Factory Reset

Folks, quick quesitons:
1. Anyone had any success recovering the data from Galaxy S5 after a factory reset without Root?
2. Does Root make things worth for recovering files?
For normal USB drives, you can try by using deep scan if the deleted space is not covered by new files. Anyone knows how you can do it on Android since UMS is no longer supported and MTP is not recognized as a drive on computer?
Really need your help!
