sorry for my bad english .Thank you

I haven't upgraded yet, but I do know that on 2.3.2, you have to set a photo from your album (as in taken from camera, or anywhere on your SD card), and set that as your contact picture. It fills up the entire top of the contact bar in 2.3.2, and I guess that they expanded that to the whole 2.3.3. You'll have to download your friend's photo (or just take a picture of your friend), and set it manually. See if that works.

One of the cool factor of Xperia's is it uses almost 16:9 aspect ratio for contact pictures. So, the one's from facebook and google not only download low resolution crap but even if they did (X10 does get high resolution contact picture from facebook) the aspect ratio of picture is messed up.
Only solution I am aware of is to always have a folder with pictures of all my contacts and then edit each contact and assign pictures from that folder. It's a pain in a** especially if you have way too many contacts. I only care about quality pictures for most frequently called people. For others, when I call them or they call, I just update their pictures.
It feels great to have quality pictures show up when we get incoming calls

After 2.3.3 update in the settings/accounts section there are 2 facebook accounts--one from facebook app and one for the native fb integration both with contact sync.
I turned off the facebook account contact integration and left the native contact integration on.

I like to get the High Resolution contact picture as well. My FB is turn off. Native is the one that is running.
@rumnyc : Are you getting full screen picture?

If you select the photo from your gallery, then full screen
If you pick the photo from FB, then Low Res.
Seem there is no solution to make the FB contact photo with High Res. / Full screen

Facebook pictures are thumbnails (which are "just acouple" of pixels). So the Xperia blows up the thumbnail to fill the screen. You know what happens when you enlarge 3 pixels ! Ha!

no i get 50x50 blown up pictures.
does anyone know if once you chose a picture from gallery, if you can go back to fb linked picture?

what app is that ? did the update and my fb doesnt look like that

after 2.3.3 update that is the native contacts app (not facebook app).

I tried to select photo from the gallery but after i pick a photo i need to crop it and the photo is on a half screen
sorry for the bad EN

I've tried both gallery and facebook, and have even tried creating new contacts, gmail contacts, phone contacts, assigning gallery pictures, and just no success, all I get is the small corner picture

Check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097733

I'll say it again:
You are enlarging a couple of pixels to a huge picture. 50x50 to 600x854. Do you get it? 3 pixels was an exaggeration to make a point. So, 50x50 is a couple of pixels. Facebook contact pictures are thumbnails. Use your local library for your contact pictures instead of blowing up "3" pixels. Because we know what happens....!
Muahh hahaha. Hahaha!

Contact picture blur problem (solved) (pics updated 27 Dec)

Hey guys,

If you are using google sync , u need to transfer contacts to phone memory.
I just discovered how to apply HQ contact pics as shown in some SE website photos.
At first , it could be done by editing contacts from SE sync service which is no longer available.
So, the alternate solution is a pc software named mobiledit. You can set full screen photos as your contact pic.
Edit: I found that the pic shows best in the timescape app but it doesn't appear/ appears after sometime in Timescape widget , probably 'coz it cannot load the oversized pic. But you can resize the pic to low res and then set it.

hope this helps many
Thanks mate.
I'll try this later and give a feedback.
EDIT:
Well, it works, but I don't really like it.
Only thing I need is the full screen call image.

Full Screen Call Image
One thing more I love about Sony Ericsson. This is coming from their earliest phones. Back then All the other phones only displayed only a Tiny Image. When someone calls, If you have their Picture saved in the Contact, It is displayed Full screen (well Almost).

The Best Part about this is, The Image is actually saved in the VCF file (Contact Card), So you dont have to keep it in the Phone memory. Earlier days, You had to keep the Photo in Phone memory, and It shows up in the gallery as well. Those days are gone it seems.
Even when browsing through the contacts, The image is displayed vividly across the header.
So, What is the Correct Image Size for a Contact Picture ?
Its -> 3264 x 1990 (pixels). Resize Any Image of your choice, and Transfer it to the SD card. Open the Contacts Application and Browse for the Image using the Gallery or a File Explorer. Once You add the Image, You can delete it from the memory.

So so you know any other software like mobiledit which can assign HQ contact pic and can be seen in widget??
Which is the best app to resize pic??

For resizing I'm using Photoshop.

Wallpapers withouth cropping in 4.2

Short version:
How to get cropping like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(height box as high as the whole box), instead of what we get now.
Hi,
In 4.2, as I understand, I cant set a wallpaper without having it being cropped first - the tool selects different part of the image for landscape and portrait. I understand this, and now that it requires quite a big picture - (2560 for vertical part (in portrait mode) and even more for landscape, because the selected region will be used on, lets say ~3500 pixels (2560+scrolling). so the minimum picture to have and use to get 1to1 pixel is ~3500x2560). And thats fine, there are plenty of pictures like this.
However, when I select a picture to download, o select it as a whole, and not only the middle. So I'd like to put it the whole, as I see it.
It was allowed in older androids.
There is no problem of getting an image of 5020x2560 and higher, so I could use this, but the problem is that 4.2 doesnt allow it at the moment.
If I wanted to do this now, I would have to take the picture, add a big border around it, so the picture itself would be in the middle, and then after cropping, I would get the picture I wanted in the first place.
Hopefully you understood me, and can give advice on how to do this in 4.2.
Thank you
P.S. Just to clarify even more - If, lets say I have image 4000x3000, and I want to display all of it, not just middle, then just let me put it as a wallpaper, and when the tablet is in protrait, there will be more than 2560 pixels to take anyway, so no need of cropping.
Why is it doing cropping anyway?
No scrolling, but this may help:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ridgelineapps.simpleimagewallpaper&hl=en
I search for 1600x2560 wallpapers, and then set the image to the app linked above. The upside of no scrolling is that moving between homescreens is really smooth (it was already smooth, but no stutters at all).
As far as your question goes, I remember using some ROMs that allowed me to re-size the inner boxes (the one that has vertical and horizontal rectangles on top of one another) inside the picture cropping box, is that feature present in 4.2? If so, enlarge the size of the box, and then you'll be able to see the whole picture, not just the middle, when scrolling around.

I just tried this app, but I got much better results by downloading a 2400x1600 wallpaper and stretching the crop box to fill it (it fits exactly).
I'm in the middle of writing a wallpaper app for the N10, depending on what access is available to the wallpaper setting APIs I'll have it automatically set pixel perfect if possible.

Oh god, thank you for this app rec. I despise the scrolling wallpaper stuff spread out over multiple screens. It seems to do exactly what I want. Have you noticed that it affects battery life differently since it is implemented as live wallpaper?

[Q] Unknown symbol in stock Gallery

Hello everyone,
I've started to notice that when viewing some images in the stock Gallery app a symbol appears over the image (and also in folder view). This seems to be related to images with a specific ratio between width and height, but I wanted to ask if anyone has a more detailed explanation of it.
TL;DR: Help, my Gallery app is playing tricks on me.

It looks like panorama.....or maybe the movie view thing in Apple products.
I've forgot to mention: tried tapping, holding, frowning at it, but to no avail. Doesn't seem related to any motion feature/eye control, etc.

it simply says that the pic is a panoramic picture
That's what I was thinking, since it needs a specific ratio between width and height, but it applies to any image with that ratio (not only panoramic photos taken with the camera). Problem is, it stays there all the time, and sometimes I have to zoom in and out and move the image around in order to read the text in it.
Can it be disabled? Or what's the purpose of it, really? I can tell by myself that it's a panoramic shot, no need for it.
Thanks.

No, I was talking about the stock Gallery app, not the Camera. Still, it's not in Panorama, but Auto.
That symbol appears in the above mentioned conditions only in the Gallery, regardless of the Camera settings.
But thanks anyway.

[Q] Cannot crop photos correctly on Photo Editor

Hello everyone, i'm having a problem with the photo editor app.
It doesnt matter how much i try, or what settings i choose, i cant manage to crop a photo correctly, as you can see on the screenshot, i can't manage to ''select'' the borders of the picture, that happens with any picturei choose, i can crop freely the ''center'' but the borders, it just can't reach.
Anyone have a solution for this?
EDIT: The cropping section of the photo editor is all having problems , i have lot of difficulty to crop photos, it doesnt matter the proportion

So i guess the photo editor is showing the picture full screen instead of adjusting it to the screen, and as the code is written to only maximize to a specific part of the screen, its not reaching the ''full screen'' picture.
So i guess i need to replace with another photo editor APK?

Was a solution to this problem ever found? I have the same issue, when trying to crop a photo in the default photo editing app on my Note 3, I can't extend the crop area to the extreme left or right of the screen. The crop line sticks about 1cm from the edge of the screen and won't allow me to drag it any wider. Also I can't zoom out far enough to crop to the top or bottom of the photo either (they are obscured by the menu bars).
Andre
still doesn't work for me either
I still have this problem as above
Has been this way since I got the phone before kit Kat and after
Also after factory reset and rooting it
The crop tool won't let my drag all the way to the border of the photo being cropped
Is this actually a problem limited to a few ?

Bug: Sharing photos in portrait orientation are automatically rotated to landscape

-My girlfriend shot a bunch of portrait photos and every single portrait photo when shared to Facebook (or sharing to any app like SMS, not just FB) are automatically rotated to landscape orientation. Viewing exact same portrait photo in the google photos or the gallery app shows the correct portrait orientation. However, shooting in landscape maintains the orientation whether in the gallery or shared. Therefore the problem lies somewhere between the portrait photo being shared and does not appear to be app specific. I have read that switching to a new camera app like the Google Camera fixes the problem but I DO NOT want to downgrade from the LG G4 stock camera. As of now, she is manually rotating all the photos in facebook which is a HUGE pain in the----- Any fix for this? I am hoping to get more exposure to the issue.

Have you been able to replicate when it does and doesn't auto rotate? I'm still trying to figure out if there is a wonky workaround or if it is indeed a bug.

Four pages of whining until a workaround was suggested.
Just tried few photos and uploaded to my computer and they are all looking properly. Pictures are always digitized as in normal landscape orientation and exif orientation tag instructs viewer to rotate picture if needed. Is it possible that you have some protection software that blocks exif tags when sharing images (since they can contain sensitive information like gps address where picture is taken)? Similar issue was existing before with fb and iphone.
Might be a lollipop bug. I had the same problem on my Galaxy S5 after it was updated. The same problem continued on the G4.
It is an android bug. Especially with Hangouts. Been around forever.
I have had the same issue as well, although have just thought - does it change dependant on the app from which you share the image? i.e. if you share it to fb from the LG gallery, ES File Explorer, Google photos etc. does the same issue still occur?
Dan
I just got my LG G4 yesterday for Tmobile and noticed this bug today when i shared a picture with buddies on Hangouts. It's not a huge deal, but it'd be nice to get fixed. I decided to do some testing with other apps and so far I've only had issues when sharing directly from hangouts or from the Google photo application. If I use the stock LG gallery and share from within that app to hangouts I have no issues. After reading a bit online i noticed there were a good number of people who had this happen in MMS, but I've yet to experience that.
