I just got a HTC desire HD from a client ant it's stuck on HTC screen.
Unfortunately I an kind of new in the android world so I would like some help please.

If your being paid then maybe offer money for help outside of xda, making money off the help people give for free is immoral.
However, it sounds like a bootloop. Has the client been flashing/rooting?

@OP: Take battery out, then put in and turn on while holding volume down and let us know if you get a white screen with writing on it.
Look for S-ON or S-OFF. If it says S-OFF then you can fix this really easily.
Edit: As everyone is say "ZOMG CLOSES THIS THREADS OMG I AM TEH AWESOME!!!111ONE!!!!1111ELEVENTY". If some mod comes and closes it, because you dared to ask for help. Then feel free to PM me.

As for doing something productive, you know virtually nothing about me, nor how much money I earn. If I was desperate for cash I'd probably have a "Donate to me" button next to my username and spam up threads.
I apologize if me asking for you assistance made other people argue but I am just a employee in service that repair mobile phones and other electronics. Witch means that I am not paid directly by the client. My kind of work might make me discover other solutions to other problems I would not have any problems sharing them to other people without caring why they need it.
I am sure that everybody in this forum works somewhere and many of you in the mobile business so many of you are being payed to do this.

I don't know what's the point of the whole argument.
A guy posted a question asking for help on how to fix a client's phone. Who knows how many members of the xda are community are working on repair shops, who of course ask for money in return of their services?
If you're not willing to help then do yourself a favor and quit bashing the guy. Don't act as you're the only all-knowing guy who could fix his problem.

There is no need to apologise as you have done nothing wrong, aside from posting in the wrong section which wasn't a crime last time I checked.
I was never my intention to turn this thread into an argument, nor do I think I did. I never bashed the guy. If you read through 99%+ of my posts I do try to help people. Not act like an obnoxious child.
We (the community) would need more information to help you. Do you know how to access the bootloader? Did the client tell you what had happened prior to this problem. Has he/she rooted / modified the handset.
HERE is a similar thread from the info we have so far. The problem was solved. Try following this thread to see if that solves your problem too.

It turned out that the owner of the phone had been playing (flashing/rooting) with the phone.
So yes it was a bootloop and I fixed it.

I hate to let you down, this is not related to rooting the phone.
I'm not a developer. The most advanced code I've written was in my high school computer science course in Pascal. I've used C++ before, but never got anywhere.
You probably don't realize what you're doing requires an amazing amount of skill and mental aptitude. Its something second-hand almost to you developers, but some of us even have a hard time understanding step-by-step instructions. The only way most of us can even begin to contribute is by money, but unfortunately, I can't afford to donate to supply you a source of income, so I know you are mainly doing this for yourself, and then sharing it with others to showcase your ability.
Honestly and wholly from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for everything you do for us. I know this is probably unnecessary motivation as you're probably working on rooting right now, but really your hard work is truly admired.

I hope everyone else who sees this and can offer no other means of gratitude will add to this post in support of our developers.

I've just completed my first year of college for Software Engineering, and it can be frustrating enough trying to find other ways to solve a problem when all the ideas you had didnt work. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to work on rooting a phone.
I'm pretty sure the dev's enjoy a thank you every now and then. I would imagine its nice getting some appreciation inbetween all the complaints that the phone isn't rooted yet and that it need to be asap.

LOL, I think the point here is well made.
But anyways, I can tell you rooting your phone did not destroy your battery life. Skip the lag fix if your not having any major issues. Or if you feel like you just have to have more speed, flash one of Eugenes great roms he has out.

When you do this, it gives the forum a lesser appearance, especially when people come in these to tell you how stupid/ignorant you are for all the needless threads.
How does telling the world you got a new vibrant to fix your battery problems make this forum a better place? Especially when you dont even state what you did to cause said battery problems.
Please consider this before starting a thread. If not, before you know it mods might start restricting rights who gets to open threads which in effect world kill this forum.
Might I also add this is why we have the Search function as well to reduce the amount of topics posted. This allows us to consolidate all of the information into one post rather than having to hunt and peck for information. Please be more considerate to those around you and if you have an added question then request it on the same thread or people will ignore your request for help (i haven't seen anyone with any real help for you here)

And how are we to help him without any reference points "my battery drains fast" and what is fast? 4 hours - 6 hours 8 hours? This is a disgrace. Anyone who exploits the hard work and unwaged development of Android/Linux on the Hd2 should know that you are only doing the community harm by discouraging devs to continue progress. You basically stole their knowledge and are hawking it off as yours. Disguisting.

I just filed a report against the item as being copyright infringement.
What an idiot, he got that picture from XDA too. I think its from mattc?

i think the best way to fix this is for everyone to file a simple report of violation of android GPL. and intellectual property.
if ebay gets enough reports of similar auctions, it will go on their banned list. unless you can prove you programmed it.

maybe his mailaddress is a part of his account on XDA so you'll be able to track him down.
Stay in contact as long as you can, that way you will gather more information.

Time for the Mod's to get involved and sort this matter out, reported it to e-bay but they aren't really going to do anything which is sad, but the mods here can!
Unbelievable! Just out of curiosity I did a search for "HTC HD2 Android" on eBay and there are several other no-conscience sellers peddling instructions on how to install Android. Outrageous! One seller "alpleco" out of Long Island has sold over 600+ of these instructions at almost $2 each.
There's just no shame!

He's basically scamming you of something you can do for free.
You're already on XDA, how easy is it to use the search function and learn to do it yourself? Also, you have a variety of rom's to pick from ... and I don't think 25 dollars is right. What would developers think when they find out their work is being sold for profit.

He's not selling android, he's not selling the dev's work, read what it says, he's selling a service of putting it on to someone's phone. You'd be surprised how many people are still wary to touch their device in-case something goes wrong, so paying someone else who knows how it's done is no issue at all, people buy and sell services to each other every damn second of the day, this is no different.

FYI I am not flaming XDA with junk, I just wanted to make sure that XDA members are okay with this kind of services.
I owe a lot to XDA and because of XDA I am in love with my gadgets.
If everyone is okay with these kind of services, then I dont have any problem.

I am not advertising for anyone, and I believe that whoever has clicked on that link is a XDA member, and I dont think that any XDA member would give someone $25 to install android on their HD2, instead they will do it on their own as lots of information is available on XDA forums.
I kept the link so that if someone from XDA need to take action against that guy, they can go through that link. But as everyone is okay with this type of services I am removing the link.
I would also like MOD's to delete this thread as it is of no use now.

Why not just ask the developer or developers that you donate to instead of opening up a thread?
What do you gain from opening up a thread like this? You say that you don't want to piss off anyone BUT this is asking for someone to bash you or become the stepping stone for something bad.
There's a reason the MODS closed the other thread...hahahaha My advice to you buddy, is to go PM the developer or developers you donated to and ask him or her where is actually going! 75 percent of the time when you donate to a developer it goes towards development. Things like buying new phones or buying software to help them develop more ROMs or whatever the case may be.
Hope this answers your question BUT like I said before, this is just asking for trouble!
It's like those darn telemarketers...like the Police Benevolent Association. The cops only get about 3% of the donation. I didn't realize that the donations were distributed per the dev. I thought it might be regulated. Why am I such an ass if all I want to do is make sure the donations go to the right person. How many people get on here and download ROMs and themes and never pay a dime for them?? I think I had the right to ask. Sorry for asking. I'm a bad person.

To answer your question. Pm or email the developer and ask for their PayPal acct. They should be more than happy to provide it to you. You can also check their sig, there is usually a link there
