Suddenly today Email app refuses to connect to Gmail!
It can send emails but not receive saying error. Also connection test gives error.
Gmail itself works but it's disgusting app so I don't use it and it doesn't even store emails on phone.
Did Google change it's policy or what? Help please.
Everyone can't connect to gmail imap servers too.
Just have to wait it out.

No I didn't.
I just set it up on my phone and it seems to be working... could it have been a glitch on the imap servers?

Since ive had my blackstone ive been having this issue, it isnt a great pain in the ass but nonetheless should be solved. I've configured my gmail account on it, but when i send an email with my blackstone it appears twice in my gmail outbox. The recipient however just receives it once. How can i fix this?

I had that case ones when use IMAP. I could fix it with disabling the option "keep copies of sent items in sent folder" in outlook account settings.
i cant find that option, can you specify were it is?

In Short: it is the overview as you would set your email Singnature
Choose Email-->Select an Account overview-->soft buton Menu-->Options..you will see your setup email accounts-->Message option... Keep copies of sent etc. un check it

Hi
Android has GMail Push functionality, im wondering why i dont get alerted immediately though, sometimes up to 30 mins after i recieve the mail i get the notification.
The 3G coverage in my area is excellent, so it cant be because of this. Is this normal? I thought push email arrives instantly?
It isn't exactly push like in the iPhone. The phone itself checks Gmail once in a while for new mail.
Check In settings->Datasync... See if Gmail sync is disabled... If it is enable it... which will work more like push... but beaware battery drainage...

Thanks Ratheen - my Gmail was working a treat until today - getting my emails pushed to my handset as they came in (yes.. pushed to the handset.. not pulled from the web).. but seemed to have stopped working today... going to try your suggestion..
It worked... just sent an email from my hotmail account to my googlemail.. and the phone received it about 10 seconds later.. MARVELLOUS...
Hi, it seemed that this link was broken. Please give some info in detail.
Anyway to fix this? I need my email real time for work and have to manually refresh to get new email.

If you are using Gmail 2.3.5, check out the feedback ratings on the market. A LOT of people are complaining about that issue, as well as the fact that the update disabled the functionality of third-party widgets.
If you're not using 2.3.5, for the love of God turn off automatic updating and don't install the newest version...
This is for everybody looking to get Exchange/Activesync Email working on the Kindle Fire: I pulled the email.apk from CM7 - installs fine and works without any problems.
BTW - is it just me or does Gmail not automatically sync when the KF is turned on and connects to the wifi?
Email.apk and calendar.apk from CM7 attached.
Huge thanks, I was using Touchdown trial version and was loathe to pay for it. It has a couple of nice features but more misses than hits.
I picked up Enhanced Email so far it functions fine at that point in time I grabbed it for 2.99 so it was the cheapest option to get multiple exchange accounts.

See if sync is turned on under Menu>Account>Menu>Account Settings>[email protected]
Mine was off by default. It now syncs whenever I connect to wi-fi.
Yeah I grabbed Enhanced Email while it was free on the Amazon App Store. It works great. I think its all based on the same open source code (its under an Apache license I think) as the Cyanogen email.apk as well.

I can get my godaddy account to work with this but can't seem to get my Work Exchange account to work, keeps saying "unable to open connection to server". I've tried every network setting i can think of. not sure whats going on. I overwrote the existing "kindle" email app, could that be the issue?

Quite annoying.
Does this email app support HTML emails (reading or sending)?
I didn't see it, but thought I'd double-check.
Thanks
Works well for me. Thank you! Now I can use this for work.
doesnt work for me because im connecting to a corporate exchange that requires a higher level of security. i did try touchdown, which has a problem with activesync not being recognised - does cm7 support activesync on kindle fire?

this is the cm7 email apk which supports all security.
If this does not work, you exchange server will not work with android period.
(and yes: exchange support in android still sucks!)
The email application works well for my College Exchange email, but the Calendar application has a weird gray bar on top and is very annoying. How do I remove that gray bar. Thanks in advance.

If you had/have an existing Gmail account setup using Exchange before (I think) 30 Jan 2013 then it'll stay that way and continue working. If you get a new phone or have to re set it up you won't be able to use the push exchange option.
For some reason my phone isn't syncing my gmail unless I actually go to settings and click on Sync Now... but I have to do that everytime I wanna check my email
Any solutions?
