I have an HTC Vogue Touch CDMA phone (distributed by NZ Telecom as OKTA).
Since NZ Telecom will soon be terminating the CDMA network the unit will be useless in NZ.
Anyone interested?
Alternatively can anyone suggest best place to put it up for auction?

Hello all,
I've been looking but haven't found the answer I'm hoping for
Out local teleco (MTS) is usually a couple of generations behind on hardware so the 6800 is not available here.
Bell Canada carries them as do, from what I can see, Sprint and Verizon...
My question if I was to acquire 1, is it possible to get it carrier unlocked so that I can get it connected to the MTS network...
Basically we need CDMA, 1xEVDO, wireless and a touch screen... if I cannot 'move' a 6800 to another carrier, is there one that anyone can suggest that meets these requirements?
thanks!
i dont think it needs to be "carrier unlocked" as it were, you just need a carrier that allows foriegn devices
Hey, I am going to egypt for a vacation and I wanted to bring a phone with me there to use for internet, aim and phone calls. So I was wondering if i bring my HTC 8525 from America to egypt would it work? I would have to unlock it but I mean if i put another company like Vodafone(idk if you heard of it) will it be able to give me phone service and internet service? Thank you for your time.
Anyone know?
go to the wiki of your device
if it support the Hz's of the place you're going
think egypt use 900/1900 for gsm not sure if they
have 3g if they do it's most likely the hz's the rest
of the world outside of usa use
Thanks a lot for ur helped. I checked out and u were right egypt uses 900 GSM. Once again thank you for ur help.
Hello friends...
I am from SPAIN, and I just switched mobile company from good-old VODAFONE, which for some reason have been losing coverage where I live, and now I am on this new company called "SIMYO" who´s service is simply great, with awesome coverage troughout Spain (uses Orange Antennas and repeaters) and probably the best tarifs also in Spain (we are the MOST EXPENSIVE mobile-tarifs European country... ).
Here is my request.... Do you guys know if we will be able to get a "connection manager" tool so that my HD will not show "roaming" all the time, as it does not detect SIMYO as a local carrier?.... I always get the "roaming icon" when calling, and obiously if I try "connection wizard" I don´t have the option to chose SIMYO, as I can only chose Telefonica, Orange, Vodafone, even Yoigo, Carrefour Movil, Bankinter Movil, Euskaltel, etc..... but no SIMYO, and I had to enter Internet parameters and MMS setting manualy...
Hope anyone can gimme a hand over here .
Thanks folks!
MOD EDIT
Move to general discussion forum as not relevent to ROM development forum
Anyone?.... I am surprised that noone is having the same problem, as I think SIMYO is also existing in other countries...
same problem here
hi there i put an Etisalat sim in my defy (CM7) but no signal , so after searching n asking i knew i have to use Baseband Switcher and change something in my radio? would you please tell me what to do im newbie thanks alot
it all depends on your country and network.
In Australia we have 3 networks.
Telstra, Optus and vodaphone I think the other is.
Now there are heaps of mobile carriers but they will use one of these networks. Telstra is the easiest as they wont off sell there network to any other carrier. Optus and vodafone how ever they will sell them off to all the other carriers and what carrier uses what is up to them.
Your best bet is to ring your carrier ask what network they use and you should be able to find it in the baseband switcher.
If that fails google the carriers for your country and try them all in the switcher one is sure to work

You may also need to Carrier unlock (CID) your phone in order to use the new SIM card on another provider.
