[Q] Sorry I'm a newbie

hi there, ive just purchased an X8 and a bit disappointed i can only get android2.1, if i root my phone can i put 2.2 on it, sorry i have searched but lots comes up and looks complicated, if anyone could point me in the direction of an "easy on the brain" tutorial then that would be fab, mainly want it for flash and anything else thats usefull,

Xperia X8 will not get android 2.2 officialy, but you can try MiniCM X8 or 2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12 from ratch.. And yes, you have to root your phone

Install xrecovery, then install a custom rom.. See here:

But remember, it's not stable yet..

im also using x8 with minicm-alpha3.1 custom rom on it, it is working so fine and a lot stable. native app2sd working awesome. no problems except the camera video recording so far for me. you should really try it....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964223

HELP! 2.3!!!! Help this noob over here =)

Hey guys, ve recently found out that androids can soon play playstation games. but it requires android 2.3 and above. so for x8s running of android 2.3(eg Gingerbread) can they play the playstation games? and can they support FLVs ?(according to my knowledge flash player needs 2.2 or above)
and also ve found out that sony has stopped updating x8 OS, eclair 2.1 is the latest and last ( or something like that) but since we can change our x8 to other OS like 2.3s , why are so many people still so frustated ? (just want to understand more ~ im a newbie)
I wanna use gingerbread 2.3....HELP

What should i start with? - Rooted, Link2sd, 2.1.1.a.0.6, the last 3 digits of my Baseband version is 015,

People say the 2.3 is still not stable yet. Camera not working, wifi not working(but i believe that some of the bugs are fixed).. Can anyone tell me the latest condition? What's not working?

Flash player will not work in x8 because of cpu limitations
Quadrant: most popular benchmark app for android. See in market
Cyanogen mod is a good custom rom made by a xda member
Flash rom: install a custom rom
The most stable rom at the moment is the minicm 2.2.1 See that topic in x8 developement section. 2.3 is not too stable, has some bugs. Nor recommended for everyday use

you must have Xrecovery instaled when you want to instal na custom ROM, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878426 here is the thread for xRecovery, see instruction's how to instal it
and beforre you get xRecovery you must root your phone (easyest way with SuperOneClick) search on youtube and you will see how that work...

thanks dude. btw what dya mean by not recommended for everyday use? r u trying to say that the longer a not-so-good stuff is used in our phones, the more dangerous it will be? and does minicm2.2.1 require anything other than xrecovery?

yes for backup your curent OS and restore new (2.2 or 2.3 android)
I don't know exactly what is Jit, i just know that has to do with performanceof your phone!

for every custom you will need xRecovery, because you restore (or flash) miniCM or ratch's 2.2 or 2.3

Jit= just in time
Android 2.1 translate the java code with precaching, but if you enable jit the code interpreter translating in real time, doesnt use cache. So it is faster

Not recommended for everyday use because relatively usually reboot, freeze, etc
Camera and FM radio doesent work also

Okay i wanna ask a question
Link2sd needs two partitions in ur sd..i have..One for normal usage and one for apps only.
I just installed cm7 rom and ive found out that it only uses the free space my first partition and the free space of my 1st partition becomes its "everything". so for my cm7 rom, theres no 2nd partition. how can i get link2sd work on my cm7 rom then?

2.3 roms use only fat32 partition. Backup data from sd and format sd as fat32

okay maybe im not detail enough..
i was using stock rom 2.1.1.a.0.6,
and my sd has 2 partitions, both FAT32 , i call them :
a) for normal usage
b) for creating links using link2sd
so now i installed the 2.3rom into (a) and it becomes as if it only has one partition. so im just wondering can we use the partition tool shown in the xrecovery menu to solve this, to divide my (a) into 2 partitions.

I am planning to develop Custom ROM's as follows:
Stock
Stock Ultimate
Clean
Clean Ultimate
Ultra Clean
Ultra Clean Ultimate
Battery Saver
The features of each ROM version will be decided and then the ROM will be finalized and uploaded.
I am also planning to develop each of the above version for different BASE ROM's like
JPM
JPN
XWJPF
DDJP2
The reason to develop the following ROM's is not to provide final CUSTOM ROM's but Basic Custom ROM's which the users can then customize as per their requirements...
SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO WORK ON THIS COLLECTION...
NOTE: If there is not much response then I will work on something else other than this...

Dont take it as bad dhram bro...but many of us or atleast me is fed up of custom roms...coz in every rom nothing new...new theme and just new apps that v can download through market too....so its better you work on something else....hope you will take as an advice...;-)

Yeah don't waste your time, however I would like to see a battery saver rom. That would be something new, I think.

Hey , my name iz Lex aka KingLex i just recently picked up the Acer Iconia A500
im in LOVE with it so far so good. Ive also installed and flashed a Custom Rom which is 3.1 Kernel Version is 2.6.36.4-UNITY-V5-ge7dee2a-dirty
and the builder is Virtous Picasso v.1.1.0 if that help - ooh yes i did however ran into 1 issue.I cant get noting from the market keep getting some purchase error.Its forced to closed.Are there any other custom rom thats out thats better or recommended ? if so please it will be help
PS: i am a noob once it comes to rooting tabs/phones and such but i do have
lots and lots of experience with hacking a PSP and PSP Bricks

Install taboony 2.2 rom and richards 3.7 kernel. Look in the development section and youll find both there.
Im pretty sure ive seen the market issue around but i never read up on it, just use the search funtion. But the rom and kernel i suggested is faster than what you currently have.

Try this guy, he seems to update his ROMs. VirtuPicasso is discontinued now, no more updates. So stick with the living guys

I'm a bigger noob than u are, so I've some question for u; which I'm afraid to ask the senior members for they might get mad for asking them stupid nooby questions; since you u recently learned these tricks u must be very excited to answer my questions.
Q1 Why and how would I flash custom rom to my a500?
Q2 If I constantly flash rom to my device would it harm my device in any way?

Personally i would recommend the Rooted Stock 3.2. I played with few ROMs. And came to conclusion almost all ROMs have some sort issues. Nothing major just different minor ones.
But that Rooted Stock 3.2 is one of the best so far IMO. No issues with any thing runs smoothly/flawlessly. I am using it with Thor Kernel 3.7.

Dude dont worry about asking nooby question, we were all noob once, hell i still am lol. As long you are being respectful and not bashing on the OS for no reason, no one will mind helping or answering your question. Any way back to your questions
Since you new just a heads up. Dont do OTA 3.2 update, or you will have to downgrade and then Root the device.
A1. I am going to assume you have Rooted Device. Why you flash ROM: Well different ROM comes with different app, and may be some added support to hard wares you want, that your stock dont have. Also they have fix for some problems that the stock has, higher efficiency too may be... you get the point.
How you Flash ROM Video Tutorial to give you general idea: Once you have CWM installed, you just get what ever ROM you like to try, put that in SD card. Go in CWM menu, do the necessary wipes of appropriate section. Then install the ROM from SD.
WHAT EVER ROM YOU DECIDE TO USE, JUST READ EVERY THING CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU DIVE IN IT
As for flashing ROM constantly, it will not harm your device, least not that i am aware off. Just as long as you follow proper instructions. Its just like installing windows on PC over and over...

4.Only have 2 lang(Eng & Chinese)i dont mind cause i always use English.

Yeah man...give it a try & pls post any comment in here.if anybody have better menthod to improve this rom,u are welcoming to share it.Im not sure if everything is working.As i know all basic fet. is working fine(call,msg,bt,wifi,games,camera&music).For me,i satisfy with it because it has difference UI from other CM7 roms.Im gonna stick with it until Paul xxx release full working version of CM9.(nobody will say no to ICS)

I don't know, Why some peoples are unliking the rom,
I found it really nice.
I had attached Antutu Benchmark screenshot.
You can see , its a great score without memory card score.
This rom is great in my views because it have a good UI with good performance.
It already stated that it has Poor 3D score.
I flashed Adreno library for ALFS ICS kernel.

LOL didnt' know someone will post this rom here man i think u need permission from original thread (there is a link on xperiax8.com.pl) Bcoz xda is dev site unlike xperiax8. I mean xperiax8 is site where u can find everything to our x8 i was just posting a rom there to get to know others from my country About keyboard etc. i just simply took one from GDX and its working
P.S. Thsi rom should be working with all kernels (im using Stock kernel and its pretty fast)

Thanks uremytoy,its would be great news for our bro & sis With stock kernel.Many of them cant unlock bootloader and stuck with it forever.This rom will be good alternative for them.
