How to force an app to launch with hyperlinks? - Desire HD General

Hi all,
Maybe not the right place for this, but as I have. Desire HD, here goes.
I was wondering how it would be possible to have a certain app load when you click on a link on a website?
I'll explain:
I would like to create a hyperlink on my site, for example, 'Listen here' and have it launch for example, A Online Radio or TuneIn radio.
This is possible on normal Windows software by adding the rtsp:// protocol or .rm file extension to force Real Player or .asx to get Windows Media to open the file/stream
Is this possible with Android? The link would be placed on a mobile site and I would hope to get either of the above two apps to open, bit what extension/prefix to use?
I hope I've made myself clear!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The problem is that WMP do not give the possibiità to me memorizzare the URL that I insert. I can resume them solo from the chronology. not is way to create a directory of addresses like happens on Internet explorer.. therefore from being able to recall the tv as I want?

Hi Azzur
Hope I understand you correctly -
What I do is to create a word document with links to streaming TV and Radio stations. I open the document and tap the station I want. It automatically opens the station. When I close the player it returns to the word document and I can tap another station.
Mike
Mike thanks for the answer.
A program as wmp similar function does not preview one? Uncle BILL disappoints to me!! How is made not to implement one function for the added one of the addresses? Exists a better program in order to make that? Thanks!!

About to Get a Mogul...What Programs Should I Get?

There seems to be a ton of posters here who know a lot about the Mogul and phones/PDAs in general...so I figured I'd pose the question to you all.
I'd love suggestions for what I should download...so if possible, could you respond with answers to the following questions:
1) What program?
2) What does it do? Please state the purpose/usefulness.
3) How do I download and install it? Link to find the download?
4) What, if any, existing program will be unnecessary once I download it? And can that unnecessary program be deleted?
I've never had a PDA, so any and all suggestions are welcome. I'll be using the PDA predominantly for calls, web-surfing, and messaging.
Also keep in mind that I'm new to all of this, and I'm a complete moron...I don't understand a damned thing. So talk to me like I'm a 5-year-old. I don't know abbreviations like SMS or MMS, or whatever.
Thanks in advance, I appreciate you taking time out to help me.
Well one of the programs I use the most on my phone is The Core Media Player (TCPMP) it is by far the best media player for Pocket PC's and can play most file types. you can get more information from here, and if you want to download it just respond saying yes and ill post a link. Don't download it from the site as I have a newer version than on that site.
http://www.freewareppc.com/multimedia/tcpmp.shtml
i hate to be the one to say it, but after seeing the views on this go up and no replies i'm just going to say what everyones been thinking. look around? theres hundreds of threads with stuff to download for your phone, you just have to look a little
Most of our WM devices are very similar. As such, pretty much everything that's been said before still applies, so check the wiki, where you should find many articles related to this conundrum.

Yeah, can you post a link? Thanks, I appreciate it.
And to you other two, I understand that...like I said, though, I'm a beginner and a lot of stuff goes over my head. So I figured I'd create a thread and can ask questions and whatnot.
It's fine if people don't want to respond, though. Life will go on. And some people have been nice enough to take time to explain stuff to me, so it's ok.

Have you got .8?
I've heard rumors of its existance, but can't find it yet. Still running 0.72... If that's the newer version that you've got, would you mind sharing it?
Here it is v.81, sorry it wouldn't let me upload to the site like normal so i put it on megaupload, to install it just download the file and copy it to your memory card or phone memory, then open it with file explorer on your phone and install it to either the device or memory card. Then open it from start/programs/media player

Sprite Backup
Sprite Backup is a must! Even if you keep it connected to your ActivSync PC daily, it is good to have a baseline you can always restore to, and I'd suggest having it backup to your SD card, and rename one of them every few weeks so you have something to restore from in case it gets completely fragg'd.
Another one is Skyfire (Beta) mobile internet browser.
I'd also suggest you get Microsoft Reader or EReader so you can have pocket novels on your phone (it's a nice thing to have when you're waiting for something). Also, rip your DVD's to your PC and encode them to WMV format and your ActivSync can put them on your SD card...
All of these tricks are discussed here in the forum. Hope this helps.
I will just give titles of some of the apps that I use. Google them to find where and what they do.

Couldn't use it... Seems to have problems with my OS localization?! My system uses pathnames with chars such as "ã" and "ó". Does the app support full unicode? It complains it cant find the path to the database file which is in \A minha memória\TPSMP\Database...
Also noticed it doesn't install inside the "Program files" folder (or respective localization name) but rather installs to the root of the selected drive.
Could you tweak the position of the buttons and stuff so that they'll be right above the bottom bar? I have an Omnia (WQVGA) and there is empty space between the button bar and bottom bar...
What kind of media does it currently support? Also rather than using WMP wouldn't TCPMP be a better option? Either that or have built-in player capabilities like using ffmpeg for ppc...
Looking forward to try it

Hy,
it´s a bug in the get application path function. It appears when you have a blank in the path. I will fix this horrible bug!!!
Currently it only supports the codecs given from WMP.
Greatz

-> FIXED!
If you have an idea for tcpmp and ffmpeg plz talk to me.
Thx.
Sorry I have no idea... Not a coder.
Just thought that the ffmpeg.dll could be used to make TPSMP not depend on WMP. But for what I read in it's release thread the current compile has the network functions disabled... If it were to be used it may need to be recompiled with these functions active.
Nice to see you already fixed those
No prob. I will talk to milesmowbray. Maybe he can give me a hint.

Thx it works I like it I can even add my own Channels thats coool and it plays really really well better then TCMP for me no buffering
I'am very glad to hear this.
Thanks

TV works nice but for some reason I haven't been able to use radio... I usually get messages from WMP like "Access is denied" (Bayern), "The parameter is incorrect", "Unable to open file. The file is damaged or not supported by the player", "At the moment it's impossible to perform the requested action" (rough translation from portuguese message)...
I reckon the interface is not the priority at the moment. I have two small suggestions:
1- Fullscreen on image/video press (like TCPMP).
2- A small suggestion on the volume control. How about something similar to the way TouchPlayer on the Omnia does it (easier on the finger)? Volume bar pops up when the volume button on screen is pressed.
looks nice.
I will test it and report back

Can anyone make pandora run on the xperia x1a?

Pandora works on windows mobile 6.1 but everytime I try to download it, it doesn't let me and says that my phone is not supported...but I would assume it would work with it either way. I'm thinking its just a test that needs bypassing. Any suggestions?
Lol
Maybe some elaboration for those not familiar with what you speak.
Pandora refers to many things; a box, a myth, a multimedia device, a company, a radio application, a female name.
I'll take a guess and assume you are referring to Pandora the internet radio service and so are talking about the Radio application.
After visiting their home page it appears Pandora is only supported on a select few (read: 5) HTC mobile devices.
A quick search on the forum (although I found it via google) will show a downloadable cab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407305&page=24
post 237.
I even went to the liberty of installing and testing it for you on my Xperia.
It executes but the program tells me that Pandora is not allowed to be used outside if the US.
In which case, if you are in the US I assume it should work just fine for you. If not, it will not.

Yes I was talking about pandora the radio program
Yes I am in the US
How did you find the installation file? Lol I spent like 30 mins google'n it That's exactly what I'm looking for.
Thanks for your help.
My pleasure.
I guess some of us are just more seasoned at "information aquisition" than others.
It took me a whole 2 google searches and I followed only 1 link, the first one that mentioned XDA.
Well I installed it, but it keeps saying " We're experiencing network communication difficulties. Please try again later." So I'm assuming that it doesn't work on the xperia x1. Again thanks for your help.
Hmm
Do you have your network settings setup correctly? Like I said I can't help much because it is not supported in my country.

Yes they all are, so I just ended up getting last.fm. Pandora has to be either in vga or xvga for you to be able to sign in on the xperia to my knowledge. But again thanks for taking your time to look into it, i really appreciate it! I'll continue using last.fm until pandora comes out with a new wvga application.
Is last.fm an app that we can download to stream radio stations?

Need a HTC mentor...

Hi,
I just bought a HTC HD2 (Leo). I've looked around in all the forums and can't find the info I'm looking for plus all the answers to all the other questions I have.
My first question is, how can I save directly to the SD card instead of the phone memory? I've looked everywhere to find an answer to that and I've even contacted the HTC support (in Sweden) but no luck. Does anybody know? Is it possible? I have a ton more questions, but I can only ask one at a time, if i understood the rules correctly.....
Sorry, but what are you trying to save, an example may help. Usually you are asked where you want to save something. Also treat yourself to Resco Explorer at some point. Makes working with files so much easier.
For example, when I send files from my old phone (photos, music etc.) it just saves it on the phone memory. It fills up my phone completely and at once. I had to move the files to the SD memory but everything didn't fit on the phonememory. I don't get any question where I want to save my files. Is there any way (that someone knows about) where I can change that? And thanks for the tip about the download, I will check that out! And I can't whatch divx movies on my phone - any tips?
Hmmm, see I used Windows Media Player to sync music and photos and it gave me the option where to sync to. I guess the problem is if you are going direct from Phone to phone you aren't getting the same level of configuration.
I believe Coreplayer is for DivX.
Free DivX layer here
Thank you for the link!! Been looking for that one. Since I'm new to windowsphones, do you know of any link (tutorial) where I can learn how to install coreplayer (and other apps - like flash and others)?
Things will either come as Install packages that are run from your PC while the device is connected via Activesync or WMDC. Alternatively applications are downloaded as .cab files which you stick somewhere on your storage card and run them from within File Explorer.
Thank you for helping a novice out! I'm gonna try it out!
