Where can i find the chinese update zip?
I found a link but it links to a 404 on dropbox?
Anyone else have a link to it?
Thanks
Try this...http://xda.richardtrip.org/?dir=./Acer/Update
Ah thanks.
Also would this update wipe my data?
If so, is there anyway to back it up so I dont lose it? Despite the fact that I am currently brick =.="
Trying to unbrick my Iconia and the Chinese zip fails as being unsigned. I can not get to the tablet via adb. It just hangs at the Android on boot. I can boot into their recovery mode and tried the keyboard method and wiped out everything, I guess, but still can't find a way to get it back running. Any ideas?

Hi all,
I have an LG D802, was running standard ROM just rooted and with PhilZ recovery. Well I was silly and tried an OTA update, and got stuck at recovery...unfortunately I panicked, cleared everything and tried to flash another ROM but I'm still stuck at recovery.
I tried the instructions in the thread about being stuck after an OTA update but as I;ve formatted the sd partition it didn't work.
I want to go back to stock, I just have no idea how....I have ADB access though if that helps! I'm not really experienced in this kind of thing so please dumb it down for me!
Any help much appreciated!

can you get into download mode either try the adb reboot download mode or turn phone entirely off and hold volume up(only volume up) and plug it into the pc usb, if you can use the back to stock guide to get your phone working again

Yes trued flashing a custom ROM, however in my haste to try and stop the OTA forcing me to recovery I may have formatted some partitions I shouldnt have.
Can I restore everything by downloading the kdz with all the correct IMG files in, converting to a flash able zip (saw a guide on here) and trying that?

Android Central has the log change. It's bug fixes really.
Also, in this thread a user states that apparently only with the full 5.0.1 can you install it with CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...p-nvidia-shield-tablet-ota-android-5-t2982677
You will lose root and CWM after the reboot but those took about 3 minutes to get back .. easy peasy. I'm now at 5.0.1 on my shield with root and CWM.
Cheers.
Hello aegern,
deletes the full update all the data? can you give me the recovery and root attach files?
Thanks

So here's what I did:
Download the full OTA then reboot to CWM (assuming your rooted + recovery) and unmount system partition ( I believe all others were unmounted) and then delete system, data, cache partitions respectively. Then flash the OTA zip followed by latest supersu.
Just tested this method and I have a rooted 5.01 32GB LTE US model working flawlessly. Even managed to take out the top spot in Hwbot Prime for the Shield (woops to newb for links I see lol)

I really appreciate your advice but I get the same error

This package is for "shieldtablet" device; this is a "ardbeg".

I've tried with a few zip updates through in xda but nothing. I guess is because the CWM recovery image but Im not an expert on this and cant be sure if flashing the stock recovery will let me make the OTA successfully. But neither i have found the stock recovery image

So, did it work for you? I've tried the file in both this link and the official update and get the same thing with both. I'm still on KK and I can't install either the 5.0 or the 5.01 updates. I get the same "this is an ardbeg" error with any update I try to flash, and I'm flashing the full files, not the incremental updates. In fact, I have two tablets (both lte) and I updated the first one to 5.0 a week ago, no problem, but the new one I just bought, I can't even though I'm using the same files (cwm and update). I'm stumped.
Bah. nm. I went back and reinstalled the recovery from here again, http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi.../recovery-cwm-recovery-nvidia-shield-t2848064. Flashed 5.01 just fine. Not sure where I got the other recovery.

Hi dgjenkins, sorry answer so late. So, answering you first, not, it did not work for me. I actually did give up, the bad was that I tried so many ways to do it that I freezed the tablet and did not start again. Well, looking out there, I found this amazing video who saved my tablet of bust it again the wall and start from the original firmware.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsMo1tPlIFU
I did intal the Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Copy the image files in to the Minimal ADB and Fasboot directory c:\Programs Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Ope Minimal ADB and Fastboot
-Type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
-Type: fastboot flash boot boot.img
-Type: fastboot flash system system.img
-Type: fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
-Type: fastboot flash staging blob
-Type: fastboot flash dtb tegra124-tn8-p1761-1270-a04-e-battery.dtb
And done . I can now install the updates from the stock firmware. Maybe I will root it again once a stable way to root the shield tablet appear out there. :cyclops:
Happy Holidays and Thanks for the interest! :good:
Nvidia updates definitely trump Android ones. These days, Google is in the habit of pretending that a nexus 5 camera bug is worthy of a new Android version (that was KitKat) or that an update is a great place to break functionality (App Ops, also with KitKat). Anything that's not a minor version with updates you know you want... Avoid on a non Nexus unless you have a great reason for it.
Manufacturers besides Google, see, they do this thing I like to call quality control. They generally release an OS that is ready for the hardware and software*. Crazy, right?
* unless that hardware is, say, the pen
After attempt at installing software update to Nexus 10 tablet will not boot. Have wiped Cache and even then did a factory reset. Nothing. Google appears and then twirling colorful dots and nothing. For hours just twirling dots., Samsung and Google and Best Buy geeks says nothing they can do. No longer under warranty but very upset since tablet was working great until update. I am not very tech savvy but can anyone help or do I just have a new paperweight? Thanks for any advice.
I have not made any modifications to the tablet.
Just flash the newest factory image. Get it and the instructions to flash it from here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
yes flash the newest image
After getting a notification of the latest update I went and rebooted for the update to install but it went to the twrp recovery and nothing happens, is there a way to install the update?

Hi Khaon, I have stock lollipop version 5.1.1 . (LMY47V) and latest twrp version. When upgrading it restarts and goes to recoverys main screen.
BTW how can I check which version my bootloader is?
same problem

as a newbie .I'm not allowed to reference your link !!
I rooted my nexus 10 using xda instructions., installed CWM. All good. I tried backup and recovery and screwed something up in recovery. Got stuck in recovery mode reboot loop. Many gyrations, no fix, so I tried factory reset. Still no fix.
I decided to install a new version of the OS using the Mantaray tar you reference above. UBS connecting and fastboot. All messages look good. Now I have the problem reported in this thread. Stuck with flying balls and no boot. Very interested in any suggestions you may have.

So you keep just boot looping into twrp, right ?
Did you try installing a custom ROM through adb or just connecting your device?
If it keeps boot looping you gotta to wipe the full storage.

No, on a normal reboot or a shutdown/restart it's fine no problems there but when I try to install the update via system update it reboots into twrp. I attach a pic of my system.

Oh I see, well, you should just flash a custom ROM or if you want to stay with official factory images, you should just follow instruction there:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
What you do need is just have fastboot executable once you are into the bootloader.
You can easily access the bootloader from twrp : shutdown > reboot into booatloader
Cool thx for your continued help :good:
The problem is due to your attempting an OTA update with a custom recovery (TWRP). You can only do OTA with stock recovery. Once you are in this situation, your easiest way out of it is to simply apply the latest factory image using "fastboot", but this will also wipe your user data so backup any photos, music, etc. before you start. You will also have to reload programs from Playstore once the new image is installed.
Has anyone know how to update the SM-P580 to Nauget through TWRP?
I don't want to lose root or recovery.
No one?
Don't think you can yet. Just install it normally and then go back and do TWRP again like the first time - it works fine

Do you have a link to download the Nauget firmware?
Links are broken. I get a 0.0kb zip. Tried all mirrors.
Even thought MD5 says 1.6Gb.
So far i have no troubles installing the FW and TWRP trough ODIN. But havent found a root tool that prevents me to trigger "verification failed"
I tried to remove root.
First, I used supersu and used the full unroot setting. However, after rebooting back to android, it is still showing root.
Therefore, I used magisk uninstall. After that my phone is in boot loop with dm-verity error.
Tried to go into TWRP (still works) to install no-verity 6.0 zip but it says boot cannot be found.
So, I am now trying to install recovery.img and boot.img. However, I am unable to find recovery file for WW_15.0410.1807.75 (Android O).
Can anyone help shed some light? How can I restore back the phone without losing data?
If all else fail, what are my last resort to get the phone back to working?
Appreciate any input. Thanks!
Ok, I tried a few things and all failed. Now the phone keep looping into fastboot when I plug in the usb.
I would like to just flash to latest firmware will do. Data recovery is secondary now.
I tried AFT 1.0.0.45 but it only allow zip files. I cannot select the raw file. I tried renaming the raw to zip but it still refuse to flash. I get error saying unable to unzip. However, before that I can see the app is trying to connect to somewhere for verification. I think something about FRP. Don't know what is that.
Appreciate any input on this. Thanks.

if you flash stock ROM, recovery is restored automatically.

Thanks! I manage to flash the stock ROM and it is able to boot into the OS again.
However, I am still seeing this "DM-verity in EID" screen whenever I boot up. Is this okay? Cause I remember this screen wasn't shown previously. It supposed to show a screen saying bootloader is unlocked and some security thing. Now it's showing this EID screen. Anyway to fix it?
if there is something like vbmeta partition, flash vbmeta.img otherwise I don't know. the screen ask for locking bootloader, but I do not recommend this. usually locking bootloader only works if every partition is stock, I doubt the locking process will fix anything.
